The Teacher's Secret by Loren North kept me guessing until the end and even then it surprised me! When Cate her son Archie go missing one afternoon, her husband Oliver is implicated in the crime. After being hired as a substitute to cover Cate at the local school where Oliver is Headteacher, Lexi gets drawn into the mystery and sets out to to find Cate & Archie.

There were so many questions throughout this book and each one was carefully crafted to keep you guessing. Suspecting Oliver one second and feeling sorry for him the next was a wild ride that continued until the end. This is definitely a book for anyone who enjoys psychological thrillers.

Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for the opportunity to read the ARC (Advance Reader Copy) of The Teacher's Secret by Lauren North. This book was not a favourite of mine. I did enjoy it but it seemed to drag on a little too much. The beginning of the book was difficult to follow but I persevered. There were not any "thriller" moments that I look for. Not a very exciting read. I would only recommend the book for an easy read but not for someone looking for a gripping thriller.

"The Teacher’s Secret” by Lauren North proved to be a solid 4-star read. When Cate and her son Archie fail to return home one Friday afternoon, the community rallies around Oliver, her husband and father, to comfort and support him. However, as suspicions arise about Oliver's true nature, it becomes uncertain who the community is truly helping.

The story unfolds through the perspectives of four main characters: Oliver, the grieving husband and father; Lexi, the substitute teacher; Jeanie, the vigilant neighbor; and Gemma, another teacher from the school. All four of them lie to the police to hide their secrets. While some aspects may have pushed boundaries, overall, I found the story intriguing. Lexi exhibits drastic swings between confidence and being frozen with fear. The ending was satisfying, and all the secrets were revealed.

Thanks to Bookouture, Lauren North, and NetGalley for providing me with the opportunity to read this ARC and share my honest review.

The Teacher’s Secret promised to be a twisty thriller, but I found it just okay. I enjoyed the author’s writing style and the multiple POVs, but the vast majority of the book not much happened to progress the story. The book gripped me at the beginning and at the very end, but I lost interest throughout.

I liked that the book is told in multiple perspectives of different members of the community and has short chapters, making it a quick and easy read. I appreciate the ARC

This book is very slow paced. I think it's the author's style to contextualize a lot before anything happens. I came to the same conclusion after reading She Says She's My Daughter. I didn't get goosebumps while reading this book so much so I actually feel asleep about 30% in. It says it all. There was so much going on in the beginning that it was very confusing: several POVs, a lot of pointless information, and little forward character/plot movement. The character of Lexi was captivating, however, and the main suspense plot kept me going enough to finish it (with great effort from me though).

Overall it's safe to say Lauren North's writing style doesn't work for me.

The Teacher's Secret by Lauren North was a nail-biting, thrilling story and I just wanted to keep on reading.
Twist after twist makes this book impossible to put down.
A gripping, suspenseful read that had me racing to the finish line.
The plot had been designed well, with twists and turns that kept me on the edge of my seat.
Another impressive read from an author that's fast becoming one of my favourites, can't wait to see what's next!

Thank You NetGalley and Bookouture for your generosity and gifting me a copy of this amazing eARC!

I found “The Teacher’s Secret” to be a fast paced thriller that was hard to put down. Just when you think you know what is happening, there is a well timed plot twist. It is written from alternating viewpoints, which helped add to the suspense. All of the characters were intriguing and the plot did a nice job of bringing their stories together. I would definitely recommend this book to others. Thank you to NetGalley, the author, and publisher for the digital ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.

Just finished my first ARC read, The Teacher's Secret by Lauren North!!

A thriller with several twists that will keep you hooked until the end. The story focuses on several character POV throughout. It is about a woman named Lexi who comes to a town to take a substitute teaching position at a highly rated primary school and finds out that the well beloved teacher she is subbing for has gone missing along with her young son. Definitely recommend!!!
I give it: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5!!!

It will be coming out next week!

Wow!
What an incredible read! It is currently 2am. And I HAD to stay up to read to the end! It’s been a while since a book left me so unsure of my own opinions of what the ending is. So many hidden clues and red herrings. Such a well written book!

Lexi is a substitute teacher whose work throws her into the middle of a small town whodunnit. Cate, a year 4 teacher (and the headmaster’s wife) and her son have disappeared. But who is to blame?

The flits between 4 main characters: Lexi, a substitute teacher, Gemma, the Re period class teacher, Oliver, the headmaster (and missing pair’s husband/dad), and Jeanie, a local busybody.
But, as the story unravels, nothing is as it seems. And everyone has se rest they’d rather stayed hidden!

Wow just wow, The Teachers Secret sure is a page turner! I was hooked from the very start and struggled to put it town!

When a mum & son go missing from a small town, Lexi is called in to become a substitute teacher to cover for Cate’s class, with not knowing how long she will be working there she jumps at the chance, better than needing to live in her car, right?

Lexi fits in night in, she loves the kids but then some of the mums question her references, where did she come from? Why is she taking such an interest in missing Cate & Archie?

Lexi then starts to feel like she’s being followed, and notes are being put through her door warning her to keep her nose out or she’s next.

Without giving anything away about this book, you must read it! It’s a truly amazing thriller that keeps you wanting more, the twists and turns when you think you have it all worked out are brilliant!

I’d like to thank Bookouture and NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read ‘The Teacher’s Secret’ written by Lauren North in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.

Popular primary school teacher Cate, wife of headmaster Oliver Walker, is walking their eight-year-old son Archie home from school on Friday afternoon when they disappear. Lexi Mills is brought in to temporarily take over Cate’s year 4 class and has her own reasons for wanting to uncover the truth of what happened to Cate and Archie.

‘The Teacher’s Secret’ is a novel based in the quiet country town of Leedham with the story told through the eyes of several members of the community, each with their own secrets that they don’t want to reveal to the police. I was gripped by the beginning of this novel that was slow-burning and could have lost me if I hadn’t been interested in the characters, and the twists and turns kept me reading until I reached the unexpected conclusion that tied up all the loose ends. Although not the most exciting novel I’ve read, it’s a good solid read that made me want to keep reading to find out more.

What a brilliant book! The Teacher’s Secret begins with the disappearance of teacher Cate and her son Archie. Headteacher and husband, Oliver, is behaving very suspiciously - as well as many others in the town. We meet substitute teacher Lexi, who has her own secrets to hide and reasons for preferring to be a sub and move around rather than settle in one place… Full of interesting twists - whilst it’s fun to figure out what’s happening and you may feel you have some elements worked out, there are a lot of surprises and switches too! Really enjoyable read

I enjoyed this book! It was puzzling, twisty and entertaining. The author, Lauren North, spun this mystery so that the reader would be lead in many directions. Well done!

Lexi is a substitute teacher , arriving at a new school in a new town.
She is needed to replace Cate, the teacher who has suddenly disappeared with her young son.
Cate’s husband is also a teacher at the school, and immediately becomes a suspect in the disappearance.
While the police search for mother and child, Lexi becomes involved in the mystery, while also receiving threatening messages, to “mind her own business”.
There are multiple story lines, suspicious characters, and old secrets.
All is revealed in the dramatic conclusion!
Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for the ARC, in return for my honest review!
4 stars.

In a village where everything and everyone seems perfect but that aren’t! So many lies, so many people have secrets that they are willing to do whatever to keep hidden. I love everything about it is his books!

Lauren North is rapidly becoming one of my favorite authors. And this may be my favorite book of hers. The characters are vividly drawn. The multiple pov's don't always work for me. But in this case it was done beautifully. Every single person added a new layer. The ending was perfection. Thank you to netgalley and the publisher for this ARC!

There are certain books that are like comfort suspense. You sit down and you know you’re in good hands with the author who is going to take you on a journey and you’re going to like it. These authors include Kiersten Modglin and Freida McFadden. The books are just the right amount of suspense, the right amount of pages and the right blend of intriguing plot and sympathetic characters.

The Teachers Secret by Lauren North embodies those elements too. I enjoyed this book, and highly recommend her 2019 novel, The Perfect Son.

Synopsis:

It’s only been a week, but the bright little faces at the picture-perfect school I’ve stepped into have captured my heart. Their big doe eyes, their paint-covered fingers and clinging hugs. They’ve been through so much, with their favourite teacher and classmate still missing…

I’m doing all I can to help them adjust, but I can’t avoid the swirling rumours that say Cate Walker’s charismatic husband, Oliver – our headteacher – is involved in her disappearance. The thought makes me shudder. But the more I find out about Cate, the more I wonder if she was also hiding a terrible secret…

I’m determined to uncover the truth about what really happened. I have to protect these other innocent children from the same fate – it’s my duty as their teacher.

That is, until an anonymous note turns up threatening me if I don’t stop looking. Until my home is broken into while I sleep.

I know the longer I stay here, the more danger I’m in.

But whoever’s trying to scare me doesn’t know who I am – or why I’m really here.

Set in a lovely village where everything on the surface is perfect. That is, except for all the lies - everyone seems to be covering something ugly while no one has anything on The Teacher's Secret! Very well done, an enjoyable read!

Many thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for this ARC!

Substitute teacher Lexi, is called in an emergency - a teacher and her son have gone missing! As Lexi becomes involved in the village drama, it’s evident that several of them have huge secrets to hide

I thought the split POV between the handful of villagers was such a treat! Every single one had a major secret to hide and I loved hearing their thoughts and reactions to all the action. Jeanie, the busybody neighbor was totally terrifying and batcrap crazy! Gemma, one of the teachers was hilariously awful and I just couldn’t work any of them out!

The characters were unlikeable, villainous, hilarious, secretive and batcrap cray, but they were also surprising and totally lived up to expectations

The twists came slowly but when they came - bam 💥 I kinda guessed one a minute before the reveal which was fun but the rest were so surprising! Lexi shone and she quickly became one of my favorite characters. I loved how the story all came together and the end was as delicious as the rest of the book! A must read for thriller fans

Lauren North thank you! Thank you for writing a thriller that was actually thrilling!!!
