As an ELT educator I'm always on the lookout for books that teach necessary literary terms and definitions in a funny way, as kids today are easily bored with regular textbooks. Finally there is a different kind of book that names and explains those things in a very engaging way. One simply cannot stop smiling reading the verses in this little wordy "cook" book.
I'll definitely would use this book in my lessons. Thx to the author for the astonishing choice of words and the illustrator for the funny pictures.

Lots of rhyming fun for kids to read! A great book for beginning readers with fun illustrations. The title is a bit misleading, however, as their are no real recipes in this book.

Kid's Word Cookbook is a great "read with me" type of book for parents & children with fun illustrations, tons of rhymes, wit, and just fun reading. Perhaps one of the best features is that this is not a quick read but more of a read a chapter and engage in conversation with your child, and let the words "simmer". Not only does it increase the readers knowledge base, but it also increases the amount of quality time to spend with your child. Ravede used more literary devices in 32 pages than I think I ever learned as a child/teen/college student.

This is like an updated version of Fox in Socks by Dr. Seuss except it explains the different techniques that are used (homophones, heterophones, etc.) in each poem. I felt the whole "recipe" thing was a little gimmicky (also a little confusing because I originally thought this was a cookbook) but it was still a 5 star book, my child (7) loved it!
