Trigger warnings for rape, childhood abuse and suicide.

I am sorry to say that I did not like this book. I would like to be clear that I understood that it is supposed to be dark and that was OK with me. I just thought that there was a lack of plot and it just seemed to be nonstop sex with a bit of background into Nico's childhood. His behaviour was unacceptable in a certain scene towards the end (and in prior scenes, to be honest. Lena put up with a lot of shit considering she only knew him a few months) and I was glad that they did not end up together. I did like the world of F1 (which I didn't know much about prior to reading this) and would be open to reading more books set in that world. Another reviewer suggested that this seems like the first book in a trilogy. If so, I would like a book centering around Davide.

Firstly this book has several trigger warnings and I would go in to reading it with your eyes open.
This is not a pretty romance where they see eye to eye and eventually get together.
The male lead is an arse, to put it nicely, and although in lots of books we love the heroine managing to bring him round to being nice, Nico is just an arse to Lena and I wasn't a fan.
She blindly went back to him too many times without really thinking of her own wellbeing and that felt a little too like real life for me!
Great storytelling for the right reader :)

So when I saw this beautiful cover and read the description "A dark and spicy love story about desire and obsession, set in the world of Formula 1." I thought I was in for a treat. It was also compared to the writing style of Sylvia Day, so I was really looking forwards to reading this book.

Let me start by saying this is not a love story nor in my opinion should it be in the romance category. This is erotica and not even the good stuff. This book should come with a list of trigger warnings from the outset as there is a lot of sexual content, some of which will put a lot of people off, even those of us who like some dark romance. At least we know what to expect going in.

The sex starts in the first few pages of the book and is full on. I personally enjoy the build up of a relationship or chemistry between characters, but I didn't get either of those things from this book nor is there a story line as such. Lena is obsessed with Nico after just one encounter at a party. That frankly happened so fast, blink and you miss it, but according to her it was the best sex of her life. She then starts to find a way to be at the same events he is. Basically he just uses her for sex, and in fact goes as far to give her a safe word 'red' and continue to carry on having sex with her even when she uses the said word, repeatedly. And I guess on hindsight, without really explaining the rules to her.

I read the book, all the while wondering when it was going to be over. Sadly, the only thing I liked about it was the cover.

Thank you to NetGalley for an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Not for me. I am a massive motorsports fan, and this is marketed as such. It reads like the author watched a couple of F1 videos, and strung together a plot - to make it seem like they knew about motorsport there were VERY thorough descriptions of F1 processes which is great for those new to the sport but also felt like a mini lecture plopped into he book to make it F1.

Other issues:
-The characters are incredibly unlikeable. The MMC is a total misogynist and very toxic and the FMC is simply just an idiot for wanting him at all.
- Book has this very bizarre writing set up, it reads like something AI generated at times. It's all over the place, writing style and tense change throughout the book.
-There are a lot of scenes where no consent is used. Including an SA scene where the FMC used a safe word and he didn't stop.
- Character names are jumbled versions of real-life people in the motorsport world.
- Mentioning things in current pop-culture that will not be relevant come 2 years from now.

This book is everything women do not need in the motorsport community. Truly shocked this book made it past an editor, really disappointing to see. Would have given 0 stars if that was an option.

The story focuses on Lena and aspiring actor and Nico an F1 driver.

[trigger warnings for violence, sexual abuse and domestic abuse]

Sadly this one wasn’t for me. But very much appreciate the opportunity to read it pre-release

Perfect read for those who enjoy:
- Easy reads
- Spicy fiction
- Erotica

With thanks to HQ and NetGalley for an ARC copy in return for an honest review.

The ending was incredibly satisfying, especially considering all the events that unfolded throughout the book. However, I couldn't warm up to Nico—he came across as quite unlikable, and I struggled to understand Lena's attraction to him.

Despite that, I found the book to be an intriguing glimpse into the world of Formula 1 racing. It was a fast-paced and effortless read, peppered with some thrilling moments!

imagine Edward Cullen with daddy issues, a female mc who get’s blindsided by money… oh and fake F1 drivers that have the same initials as real ones.

I get what the author was trying to do with this book - there are times in your life that you have to just say no and more on, but I just felt like this didn’t hit the mark for me.

I honestly wish this book came with major trigger warnings for violence, sexual abuse and domestic abuse as I would have probably gone into reading it with a different headspace or opted not to read it at all.

I think the comparison with The Idea Of You does not do it justice at all - I was expecting a similar "regular person dates celebrity" story, sexy and mostly a light read and found myself entangled into something a lot darker than that. The book itself is greatly written, the story flows and it's really easy to read.. however, the content is a whole different story. The topics treated really should come with a warning, there's some scenes that are just hard to stomach (for myself, it may very well not be the same for others); the lack of consent, the terrible treatment and blatant disrespect for the main character by her love interest made it really really hard for me to get through the book. I get the idea of the male lead having had a troubled past, but lots of his behaviour is a massive red flag. The ending left me scratch my head because honestly, what?! Are we really going to tie everything up with a nice little bow after all that happened?!

Personally I really wish I had a better idea of what was coming so I could make an informed decision on whether or not to read the book. and again, please do consider adding trigger warnings to this. I hope this does not come across as criticism towards the writer because I think her writing style is great, it's just the plot that didn't do it for me and I ultimately wouldn't recommend this book to friends/family.

If you love F1 and smut then this book is definitely for you. There was a lot more smut than an Ana Huang novel for example.

In this book there was; controlling relationships, MF/FF/MMF/MFF scenes, F1 romance, new starts, LA setting, rich male, troubled backgrounds, very spicy 🌶️

I loved the whole ride in this book, it was new to me but definitely a fun read. The only thing I didn’t like was that there wasn’t much of an ending for me, it didn’t quite feel complete but other than that I loved it.

Rush is a formula 1 romance that follows Lena on her journey of wanting to become successful in her playwriting career. She moves to Los Angeles to make it big, but after five years she begins to count down her own time there with a personal challenge that she set herself to have become successful. Nico Laurenent is a formula 1 champion and has his eyes set on Lena from the second that they meet. After their first meeting, Lena organises their next and all kicks off. Lena is pulled into Nico’s world whether she likes it or not. This review may contain minor spoilers!

Now, this book started off really well for me. The premise of the storyline after reading the bulb set me off into a good start. There were parts of this book I really enjoyed but as I got into the thick of reading it I felt the mood of the book changed.

I did like Lena’s character but I felt like she let a lot of her personal morals slide. I got the vibe that she got a little bit swept up in Nico’s world and couldn’t actually say or do things that she truly wanted to do. I think that she wanted to make it so badly in LA that she allowed herself to get morphed into someone who would ‘fit in’. It was frustrating to see her fall apart and run back to Nico time and time again. She allowed him to do horrible things because she loved him… I was really surprised that by the ending of the book she held her own ground and managed to walk away from a toxic situation. I enjoyed seeing this development of her character.

I understand morally grey characters and feel like Nico was supposed to fit into this category. However his treatment towards Lena was insane. Nico is very problematic, his actions and behaviours are often extremely erratic. He is very possessive and has many major red flags. I understand that his childhood was very traumatic for him but it didn’t give him the right to be so nasty to Lena. I felt like he tried to excuse his behaviour so many times. Nico is very selfish, and in my opinion tried to isolate Lena from her friend Jo.

I was really mad at Johanna for what she did to Lena. I truly didn’t expect this as throughout the majority of the start of the book she was there for Lena, helping her out with clothes, telling her honest opinions and hyping her up like what a friend should do. I felt Lena’s anger and betrayal. I am quite glad that she stuck her ground and not let Jo back into her life.

The two characters that I did actually enjoy were Sabine and Eliot, for they were always honest and straight about their position in the book. I felt like you knew where you stood with these characters. Elit’s treatment of Lena was also consistent, he continuously showed her kindness, never judging her but still offering words of his advice when needed.

I do think that this book should have come with a trigger warnings list, there were some blurred lines with consent between characters. Please be wary when reading through this book. I really struggled with what to rate this book as there were parts that had so much potential, Ithink the main issue I have is the way Nico’s character was executed.

At first I was unsure about this book. It has so many similarities to 50 Shades of Grey, maybe less far fetched. However, saying this I really enjoyed it. I liked the characters, particularly Eliot. Lena the main character will drive you insane with her choices but she's still a very likeable person.

I feel a reading slum coming on after reading this book.

Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC.

This book is a walking red flag, so when I say I whooped at this ending, I mean it! The FMC is a British woman in LA trying to make a name for herself as a writer but when she meets the F1 world champion at a party, they both become obsessed with each other. She is flung into a world of parties and extravagance, leaving her old life behind…but at what cost?!

I enjoyed this book and the story, hence the 3*, but I felt I didn’t have an affinity with the two main characters and found them difficult to relate to. The spicy scenes were ok, although I felt a bit uncomfortable through some of them but I guess that’s the point as their relationship was toxic AF.

Received as ARC via netgalley

Erm, no.
I did finish reading it, however I wouldn't recommend it.

I've seen other reviews where the spice was the problem, or the lack of consent, or the fact that she safeworded and he didn't stop were the problem, and while it's problematic to have in media for a ton of reasons, this is a dark romance so that's not my exact problem.

My problem is I can't find a list of trigger warnings anywhere, now some things you can cover with it being a dark romance, this book needs a TW list at the front where everyone can assess if it's for them.

The other problem I have is the rest of the plot, it feels like its all there to get to the next spice scene, you could easily skip past it all and not miss it.

I really had high hopes for this from the blurb but it just wasn’t for me.

In terms of it being an F1 romance book I felt as though there was hardly any detail or mention about racing and F1 so it seemed somewhat misleading for it to be labelled as a sports romance.

Both characters for me were insufferable. Especially nico. He was rude, annoying and had no good traits whatsoever. All they did was cheat on each other and have s*x.

I’m not actually too sure what the plot even was. I rlly wished I liked it but this book could have been so much more had the plot and characters been more thought out

I really expected to love this but unfortunately it wasn’t for me. Agree with a lot of the other comments that this definitely needs trigger warnings before publishing.

I didn’t actually mind the lack of backstory of the characters and how quickly it gets spicy. What I did hate though was the dynamic between Nico and Lena. Nico was horrendous and Lena just annoying. Why didn’t she just leave him? Appreciate he was portrayed as being broken but the whole thing was just toxic.

I didn’t see the twist at the end coming and thought this was a good aspect of the book but unfortunately overall, just not for me.

Firstly this book should contain trigger warnings as some encounters will affect some readers.

Secondly this book is classed as a romance but does not have a HEA,

This book does fell rushed and i would like to have had more character background more of a build up between the main characters,
Ive read plenty of erotica and i do like it spicy but i do prefer a bit of tension flirting or even angry hot banter to get the characters going before they are being taken in the garden.

Both of the main characters were not likeable and both have their own issues that do not build or redeem themselves.

Would I recommend not sure if you are reading this for romance then pass, if for F1 then pass, if you like it spicy and have have a thing for non consensual sex/rape the read on

Thank you to HQ for this ARC. Unfortunately this was not the book for me. I found the whole book rushed (no pun intended), with little explanation of characters background and motivation, and flitting from scene to scene abruptly. This made all of the characters unrelatable and unlikeable for me, so I found myself skim reading the later sections as I’d lost any investment. The story itself also becomes increasingly unrealistic and deeply cringing. Whilst I enjoy a spicy read, I found some of the sex scenes extremely triggering.

This is going to be a marmite read!

I enjoyed this one and totally absorbed into the world of Lena and Nico.

Some scenes I was no woah that's a bit much but fitted in with the storyline and why Nico is the way he is.

This book will get mixed reviews but I absolutely would read more from this author.

I loved this book! I’m a fairly new F1 fan and love reading fiction set in the world of racing. This was very well written and the relationship between our protagonist and her love interest was captivating and bittersweet. The characters were developed perfectly and I would love to read more books in this series or by this author. I would definitely recommend this to any F1 fans or fans of sports romance!

This book held so much promise from me, from the blurb I thought it would be right up my street..

Unfortunately I spent most of the book just wondering why?

Firstly, I think it requires content warnings if only for the countless instances of dubious consent from the get go. Secondly, something felt quite jarring to me about how many of the F1 characters were almost like real people (did all the initials really have to match, could it not just have been a completely fictitious F1 league, I’ve read that be done before and it’s worked fine).

Then there were the characters. I am fine with things being on the darker side, but Nico had exactly 0 redeeming moments and I really could quite figure out how exactly Lena fell for him. Also Lena as a character wasn’t my favourite. Her actions were questionable most of the time (showing up in Miami, ditching her supposed life dream to get on a transatlantic flight with zero notice) and it was hard to root for her when she was behaving so childishly.

I also found it repetitive (how many times did we have to read that she was British, or that she had a conservative upbringing that was never actually explored further?) and because almost all of the sex scenes existed in this grey area where they were borderline nonconsensual it was hard to enjoy it. it just didn’t live up to the promise of the blurb and I really was expecting great things. Also it doesn’t feel like this should be called a romance as it doesn’t have a HEA
