An international espionage thriller set in the explosive desert heat of the middle east where the tiniest spark could lead to Armageddon.
This was a particularly tense read for me with all the current headline news about the conflict between Israel and Gaza, which has now been joined by Iran. The ever present threat of a nuclear catastrophe is the ultimate nightmare scenario.
The author takes a leap into this terrifying world and moves his plot forwards with the speed of lightning. This is more Jack Reacher than James Bond and the body count keeps getting higher and higher with some particularly explicit and gruesome killings.
At times it is almost too realistic but from the first page to the last it is totally gripping.

This was a new to me author.

The storyline in itself was fine but I did feel the pacing was a bit off. I got to about 20% in and still nothing very interesting had happened.

The main characters were quite well fleshed out and I felt engaged with them. However I did feel that we got weighed down in techno-jargon. I like to learn something in each new book I read but I felt I could run a nuclear facility with the amount of details sometimes.

I'd give another book by the author a try
