4.25/5 stars! Hear me out! Somehow I didn't realize this was a translated work. Fully my fault. When I went back to read this I was nervous, as some translated stories don't really work or messages get lost in translation. That wasn't the case with this book. This is a legal thriller with the complexity and strength to rival John Grisham. The plot twists kept coming and I was on the edge of my seat from start to finish.

Final Appeal was an OK crime thriller, Piotr Langer Junior has been charged with murder, but not just any murder, murder with the highest brutality. He was arrested after living with the bodies in his apartment for 10 days

Joanna Chylka is assigned his case along with her new mentee Kordian Orynski can they help their law firms biggest client's son? Did he really commit the crime? Or was it the mafia? Who brutally attacked Kordian and why?

This was a tense legal novel with gritty characters but it was a little slow in places

Criminal Justice Lawyer Joanna Chylka and her mentee Kordian are tasked with defending the son of their firms biggest client and find they may be able to get an appeal. His crime, however, was brutal and soon they find themselves in trouble in lots of ways. Will they get the appeal and is he really guilty?

I was interested to read this as I know that this series and author is already a massive hit Poland and I am always grateful when great novels are translated into English. The author has proven to be a great storyteller and builds strong characters, as well as the relationships between them. The story was interesting and I was intrigued how it would all come together. I found the pacing to be on and off and my overall interest kept waning. I was unsure about some of the phrases used but this could have been because of the translation; overall it was well translated and flowed well. There were plenty of twists and a surprising ending. This definitely was not a bad thriller but I probably went into in expecting too much at the time. Saying that, I would most likely still try out the next in the series. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this copy in return for an honest review.
