To Woo and to Wed is the last book in the Regency Vows series and it’s been a long time coming. West and Sophie have been floating about on the edges of all the other books and now we get all the juicy bits of their hinted at history and a convoluted plot to bring them together. Sophie’s sister Alex won’t get married until Sophie is settled so she decides to ask West for a fake engagement obviously it all gets out of hand. There are many flashbacks. I am not a fan of flashbacks. I find them tedious and they take momentum away from the main plot and a lot of it we already knew or it could have been explained in a conversation within the main plot. Sophie’s reasons for not marrying West became less understandable to the point of intolerable towards the end but all these books have irked me in that way. They get to and often sail over the point of ridiculousness and become slightly absurd in a tiresome way. Too Woo and to Wed was probably the most sensible of all the books and was all the better for it. And obviously I’m glad they got their happy ending.

I have not read any of the books in this series before. This only meant I went in with no expectation or prior knowledge of the history between the primary couple.

Sophie and West once had an understanding. We are given a glimpse into their past when we see them in the current timeline. Slowly, almost in a dual timeline narrative, we explore what the situation once was.

My favourite part (as usual) was the fake relationship trope. Obviously, we know where things will go, but the process was fun to watch. It is easy to side with West over Sophie because the male character in this book has been more steadfast and serious about everything from the beginning. It is not a unique setup, but it was a quick read that had me curious about the previous romances as well.

The best plot point in the book was the random wedding suggestions by the other engaged sister that kept adding up.I would recommend this book to others who like delving into this genre.

I received an ARC thanks to netgalley and the publishers but the review is entirely based on my own reading experience.

A delightful conclusion to the series with the usual wit and laughter from Martha Waters. While the story is very much a romance between the pair, I love how present the ensemble cast are and how the friendships are portrayed, both among the men and the women.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for a free ARC in exchange for a review!

This is such a nice book! I love a good historical romance, and this is an excellent one! Sophie and West are such a sweet couple, and their second chance romance is so lovely. It balances humor, sentiment, good solid characters, and excellent romance.

Did everything make sense? Nah. Did Sophie's reason for refusing West kind of seem like a plot device rather than an actual reason? Yeah. Did I care? Not really! I am willing to forgive the one silly aspect for the rest of this book, which is a witty, enjoyable, super sweet story.

If you enjoy historical romance at all, you definitely have to pick this one up.

Four stars!

This gets 4.5 well deserved stars! I think it’s one of my favorites in the series! I really enjoyed finally getting more information on West and Sophie, there story has been teased so much in the past books! And whilst their story is heartbreaking in a sense, it was also very satisfying to watch them finally overcome all the obstacles (themselves being the biggest one 🤣) and say yes to love! Seeing all the other characters again was the cherry on top! I will miss this series a lot and can’t wait to see what Martha comes up with next!

This e-arc was provided to me by Netgalley and Headline in exchange for an honest review.

I am not sure if this book is a part of a series because it read slightly like one but if so that did not detract from the story at all. Wonderfully written with personable yet original characters this was a hoot from beginning to end.

Did I want to whack West and especially Sophie with the book over the head for their stubbornness? Sure. But that might have made them realise just how well they fit together sooner and spoilt this final book in the "Regency Vows" series.

At last we get Sophie and West's story. One that was hinted at and one that the avid readers of this series were waiting for, probably just as much as West and Sophie themselves.

Martha Waters brings all her characters of the series together again and rounds up the series nicely.

PS: I really appreciated the talk about parenthood.

Martha Waters is one of my favorites, and while I haven't read every book in this series, I started reading it ages ago and got so excited when I reminded about one of my favorites. To Love and To Loathe is one of my favorite books ever, and To Woo and to Wed stood up to the hopes I had going in. It is funny and lighthearted, but also has an amazing story line and characters that one cannot help but love - even if we'd love to smack them on the head sometimes to knock some common sense into their brains!! This was another hit from Martha Waters. I would recommend anyone who has any inclining for historic romance to read her books, and this last addition to the series is one of my favorites!

I have been waiting for this book, the final book in this gorgeous series, and the reckoning of Sophie and West, and so pleasingly it did not disappoint. Yearning and funny and glorious. Second chances, fake dating, duty and autonomy – an excellent mix with a perfect touch of spice. I loved it and I’m soo looking forward to what Waters writes next.

To Woo and to Wed by Martha Waters is the second book I read from the author and I also enjoyed this one. It's fun, unhinged and unserious. The main couple is sweet and swoony and I was really rooting from them throughout reading this book. Just one thing is that this story focuses on a lot of couples and for someone who didn't follow this series, it got too much to be honest.

Apart from that, this book is really great and I recommend you to pick it up.

So this was a fault on my part, as I thought for some reason I was getting a regency graphic novel (which isn't stated anywhere so that's completely on me). I'm not really a fan of romance novels so this clearly wasn't for me. However I did enjoy the banter and if anyone is looking for something similar to Bridgerton (with less spice) then I'll be sure to recommend this.

To Woo and to Wed is the fifth book in The Regency Vows series by Martha Waters. Even though each novel can easily be read as a stand alone, I highly recommend reading all of them because they are fun, entertaining, and full of romance.

The protagonists of To Woo and to Wed are West and Sophie and, having already got a few glimpses of their story in the previous books, I was really looking forward to it and I wasn’t disappointed.

Their story began seven years earlier when they first met, fell in love, and planned to marry. However, an interfering father and an awful accident left him with a limp and guilt over the death of his best friend and her married to someone else. Now, Sophie has been widowed for four years – and enjoying the freedom that comes with it – while he is under pressure from his father to marry and produce an heir. When Sophie needs to convince her sister that she is happy and ready for love again, she turns to West with a proposal for a fake engagement. As they spend more and more time together, old feelings resurface, risking turning their fake relationship very real.

I have been a huge fan of this series since the first book, To Have and to Hoax, came out and, up until now, To Marry and to Meddle, has been my favourite book and Emily and Julian my favourite couple, but, after reading To Woo and to Wed in a day, West and Sophie have become my new favourite couple. I was completely immersed in their story full of love, but also regrets and guilt. With a fake engagement that includes vegetable nicknames and a ridiculous double wedding, they have a second chance to love.

I am sorry to have reached the end of this series because I fell in love with all its protagonists and I enjoyed how each story developed, but I am really looking forward to reading whatever the author is writing next!

This is my second dive into this series (I hadn't realised this was the fifth in the series) and To Woo and To Wed was just as enjoyable. Martha Waters has proven herself as an exemplary writer of the Regency Rom-Com with witty characters, fun banter and everything needed to make an amazing Historical novel. Reading up for Valentine's Day, Water's novel was just the book I needed to fill up my Valentine's reading goal.

Overall, To Woo and To Wed was a fun, witty Rom-Com that shows Waters as a must-read author if you want a dash of romance in your daily life.

Thank you, NetGalley and Headline for sending me an ARC in exchange for my honest review.

This is my first dive into this series and I didn't realize it was book five. However, I didn't feel like I was missing out and believe this could be read as a standalone. I will be going back and reading the other books.

I really enjoyed Sophie and West's story. It was romantic and heartfelt and dud everything a historical romance should do with the addition of much needed humour. It was a breath of fresh air.

I fell head over heels for West, he's a fantastic heroes and I slowly grew to live and understand Sophie.

A lovely read.

Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for the ARC.

5/5

Oh my God, this book. It's my favourite!!!! Ahhhhh!!!!

West and Sophie. I love them so much and I'm so glad that they finally got their happy ending! I love them!

Their story was heartbreaking and heartwarming, I was crying and giggling and kicking my feet with delight in equal measure.

While I don't like flashback scenes, they worked here flawlessly. God, West's father is the worst, isn't he? We already knew that but this book just solidified it more. I wanted to punch him.

West was one of my favourites and his story was heartbreaking, especially since he didn't know the full story. But I'm so happy that he didn't give up and fought for Sophie, as soon as he learned that not everything is lost. I love that he was there for her when she needed him and she was there for him as well. Her character growth was amazing and I so glad that she finally let go of the fear and started living the life that she wanted.

And the glimpse of the future of all the group was so good, I'm glad that they're all happy.

I've read some books in the series and Ive quite liked them, this book being a second chance one was no different. It was emotional, romantic and charming and I liked all the characters but I felt a bit frustrated with Sophie sometimes. She was too selfish and her decisions were abrupt, most of which I quite frankly did not agree with. But ignoring that, I really liked the contrast between the past and present chapters. Showing West & Sophie's past was well executed and I could understand them better. Also the epilogue was really good and gave off familial vibes which was very enjoyable. Overall, this was a good read (a 3.25 star read for me) and West was my favorite character and while I'm bummed that it's the last book in the series, I can't wait to find out what the author had in store for us in the near future!

This is the final book in the series it seems and I hadn't read the other's. I don't feel this impacted on my enjoyment of the story overall although the friends/Sister's were a little difficult to tell apart which might be because I don't know there story. It was an enjoyable second chance romance overall although I did feel things were drag out more than they could/should have been for my total enjoyment but good overall. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

West, the Marquess of Weston, and Sophie, Lady Fitzwilliam Bridewell, have lately been spending a considerable amount of time together. But West and Sophie are not new acquaintances.
In fact, years ago, they were almost engaged, until West's almost fatal curricle accident and his meddling father threw them off course.
Now, having recently lost her husband, Sophie has put aside all thoughts of romance. But when her widowed sister, Alexandra, mentions a fondness for an earl, Sophie realises she may be holding her sister back. Alexandra won't move forward until Sophie, too, settles down again, and so Sophie approaches West with a plan. They will announce their engagement and break things off once Alexandra is happily married.
It'll be simple. After all, it's not like she is going to fall for West a second time, not when Sophie has sworn not to risk her heart again. It is one of those books that transports you making you forget about real life and full of delightful characters that spring to life. I actually felt like I was there in the story with them ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

This was simply glorious. There was so much joy in the relationship between the sisters, so much expectation and love between all the characters that it made it easy to read. The sarcasm and cheek and twitching smiles as things got more and more ridiculous added to the glee I had in reading this book. The sad premise running under it all is always there but made beautiful by the writing, the characters and the love flooding through the pages. Read this book.

Sophie and West have a history. It's messy, complicated, tragic and only after seven years have they just about learned to tolerate each other's company within their friendship group. And yet, when widowed Sophie finds herself in a situation where she really needs a fake fiance, West is the one she turns to.
Although not obligatory, it helps to have read the entire series before this one. Sophie and West's story has been hinted at throughout the previous four books, and not only do we get that full tale here in teased-out flashbacks, but there are also reminders of the earlier instalments through the banter in the group scenes - all of which are very funny and one of the major highlights of the book. Sophie is stubborn almost to a fault, but that aside I liked how they (eventually) dealt with their issues, both with each other and with external factors. Full of sharp wit and memorable characters both major and minor, this is a very satisfying conclusion to a series that has continued to get better and better.
