Shout Out To My Ex – the romcom that had me swooning, eye-rolling, and totally invested in Elle’s Parisian love mess! 👠💔

Elle Bliss is a total mood – fashion designer extraordinaire who’s too busy chasing dreams at Paris Fashion Week to worry about her ghost-of-boyfriends-past… UNTIL said ghost – Leo (now Lorenzo, how dramatic) – shows up, serving Big Celebrity Energy and more arrogance than a French pastry chef.

Let’s be real: I was here for the Emily in Paris vibes – the fashion! the city of love! the DRAMA! – but also for the delicious slow-burn “he’s-an-arsehole-but-maybe-he’s-not?” dynamic. 👀

Our girl Elle is all hustle and heart, and even though I wanted to slap Lorenzo half the time, I was absolutely here for the second-chance vibes and the undeniable chemistry. 🔥

Loved the sparkly banter, the ‘is this real or am I being played?’ tension, and the gorgeous Parisian setting (someone get me a croissant, STAT 🥐). It’s enemies-to-lovers, but make it fashionable and messy in the best possible way.

If you’re after a chaotic but charming romcom that’ll make you want to book a one-way ticket to Paris and maybe confront your ex about who they really are, then this is IT. 💃✈️

This was a delightfully speedy and enjoyable read that had me feeling warm and cosy inside. I really enjoyed our leading characters and the premise was a whole lot of fun.

Wickedly witty and immensely entertaining, Shout Out to My Ex is the fun, glamorous and deliciously readable new romantic comedy from Sandy Barker.

They say that you never forget your first love and that is certainly true for fashion designer Ellie Bliss. A decade might have passed, but she is still hung up over Leo, the first man she had ever loved who had mysteriously disappeared ten years ago. Ellie has tried to move on, but nobody has ever measured up to her ex. Her love life might be a disaster, but her professional life is thriving as her dream of showing at the Paris Fashion Week is about to come true. Only, Ellie never imagined that in the most romantic city in the world she would end up coming face to face with her own lost love, Leo…

Now calling himself Lorenzo, Leo is a shoe designer whose star is on the rise. Only Lorenzo is certainly not the man Ellie had fallen in love with years ago. He’s arrogant, rude and an absolute nightmare. However, when they reconnect, Ellie realises that the Leo she had fallen in love with is still lingering behind the brash Lorenzo persona. Will it be second time lucky for Ellie and Leo? Can they move on from the past? Or is their love simply not meant to be?

Sandy Barker’s Shout Out to My Ex is a feel-good second chance at love contemporary romance sprinkled with plenty of magic, humour and emotion. Touching, hilarious and effortlessly stylish, like your favourite little black dress, Sandy Barker’s Shout Out To My Ex does the trick and does not let you down – don’t miss it!

This was a quick read and I wasn't expecting to see this book as part of a series. We see a lot of references and some characters from the first book here. Honestly, I feel this book could have seen a bit less of the first book (since that would mean less comparisons with the first one, in a way). I do feel that I was much more invested in the characters and in the setting of the first book, Match me if you can, than this one.

Sorry, but I didn't feel much chemistry between the two leads, Elle and Lorenzo here. Overall, a breezy read!

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.

I was unaware when requesting this book that it was the second in a series. The non-traditional POV style between the female love interest and the matchmaker just kept throwing me off. I was definitely missing the matchmaker’s story, I’m assuming from the first book. And I just didn’t feel any chemistry between the characters.

This is a sweet and fun second chance romance. This has adorable and heart warming elements that make this genre just what I was looking for when I read it

This book was slow and tedious to get through, sadly. Also, I wasn't expecting this to be the sequel to Poppy's story from Book1 (I got enough of Poppy in Book1, thank you, and I didn't need more of her here, much less whole chapters of her POV!) The whole thing felt contrived - heroine's sister hiring the agency and we see much of the happenings through her, then Poppy gets her chapters, then it's Elle - so many POVs to keep track of, then there was a half-dozen people at the agency we needed to recall/keep track of, then there was the half dozen people at the fashion label we needed to recall/keep track of... It all ended into a jumble, and then the romance itself refused to get started... It was too much, unfortunately.

What a great read ( read it in one sitting, in the sunshine, one of those ‘page turning -can’t put it down’ books.
I’m going to search out more from this author.

This was so much fun. The love story felt real and I really enjoyed reading it unfold. I will say, I wasn't as interested in the agency side of things and her life story. I cared more about the love interests.

This was so good!! Absolutely loved Elle. I read this on one sitting. This was absolutely perfect to read when you are wanting a romance with second chances.

A super cute read that takes the idea of a happily ever after and actually monitizes it. I have to admit I was ready to not finish this when we first met Leo ahem Lorenzo but I’m so glad I stuck it out. Elle and Leo are a really cute couple and this second chance romance had me on the edge of my seat. I quite enjoyed this read!

I loved accompanying them to Paris fashion week and around London as they try and work out what went wrong all those years ago. A great cast of supporting roles too and the author's usual cracking sense of humour.

DNFed at page 190.
I hate the fact Elle hung up on one guy since her teenage years and now that he's in front of him she can't even speak properly. I am shocked that she even thought about starting her BLISS DESIGN fashion brand while doing absolutely nothing!!! but now I am not interested at all knowing how will she be doing that. good luck to Elle and all the other people bearing with her.

This lovely story has relatable characters that you invest in from the start. It's set in the glamorous fashion world featuring Elle, a talented designer who has never recovered emotionally from how her relationship with Leo ended. She can't forget him, even though he has had no contact with her since his abrupt departure. Cassie, her sister and the business manager of Bliss Designs, reluctantly approaches the Ever After Agency to help Cassie find her lost love or at least closure because ten years is enough heartache for anyone. The story is the perfect mix of emotions, with laughter balancing the poignancy. I love the glamorous setting and the drama when Elle and Leo reunite. I like the characters, the relationship dynamics, the glitzy fashion setting and the passionate second-chance romance.

Loved this cleverly-written romantic read - the second in the agency series and just as good as the first. Sandy Barker always brings the lols! One to add to the suitcase and enjoy by the pool.
