Returning to the captivating world of the Fables series was an absolute delight, especially with the addition of two new stories! "Tides" offers a glimpse into the past with two captivating narratives. "Drift" follows Willa's enchanting romance with Koy, while "Tide" delves into the love story of Auster and Paj. Personally, "Tide" stole my heart! Though these are novellas, I can't help but yearn for more. Here's hoping for additional tales in the future!

Tides and Drift is another step into the world of the narrows, this time in form of 2 stories, one for how Paj and Auster met and fell in love despite the odds (Tides), and the other for Willa after leaving the Marigold and trying to set up a future on the island Jeval, by turning it into a port with Koy (Drift).

This book feels like a love letter both to the fans of the Fable series, while sometimes novellas or additional stories can feel like a publisher money maker, this doesn’t feel like that. This feels like a thank you the readers who fell in love and became invested in these characters, a glimpse into who they were and where they are now, from an author who made you love them in the first place. It’s a lovely companion to the series.

My favourite of the 2 was Drift just as I adored Willa and her independence and fire and the protectiveness she has over Ailee. Plot wise it’s not hugely complicated but it doesn’t need to be, I liked the romance with Koy, I liked knowing she was safe and loved and in good hands while she establishes her new life and business and defies the doubters. She’s a little fireball. Tides has more going on plot wise, with Paj meeting Auster while stealing for his uncle, the love that develops and the threat that hangs over them. The chemistry between these characters is beautifully done and it was lovely to step back with them.

Thank you NetGalley for the copy in exchange for an honest review, I’m glad I got the chance to step back into this world with a wonderful storyteller.

I absolutely loved the Fables series and was so happy to get to go back into this world with two new stories!!
Tides is set before Fable and tells two different stories. Drift is about Willa and her blossoming relationship with Koy. Where as Tide is about Auster and Paj and how they fell in love.
My favourite of the two had to be Tide!
I know these are Novellas but I always want a little more.
I would love there to be more of these!!

Thank you to Netgalley, the Author and the Publisher for an eARC copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

Having read "Tides," my expectations were not only met but exceeded, solidifying this series and world as one of my all-time favorites for both comfort and overall greatness.

The thought of not having more books from this series in my life is daunting. I have an immense love for the entire world, the characters, and Adrienne's writing. It's a sentiment of pure adoration.

big thanks to netgalley and titan books for providing me the e review copy.

A short novel that brought me back to the world of Fable and catch with some secondary characters. Well plotted, entertaining.
It's better to read the main series before reading this story
Recommended.
Many thanks to the publisher for this ARC, all opinions are mine

If you love the world of Fable, then this companion novel is for you. I could not wait to get back into the Fable world and these two short stories did not disappoint. Paj & Auster were everything I needed them to be and more and I fell in love with them all over again. I loved getting into the world again with Willa and I thoroughly enjoyed every moment.

This was a quick and easy read. I loved revisiting some of the secondary characters and seeing where their story began. As always Adrienne Young's writing is simple and lyrical.

TIDES; PAJ AND AUSTER

Set before FABLE, and as the title suggests, TIDES; PAJ AND AUSTER is the story of how Paj and Auster met, fell in love, and left Bastian together. The ending is super open – you know they’re together, but not what happens between then and meeting West. Perhaps there are more short stories to come?

It’s a nice addition to understanding them better and getting another insight into the world of the Roths (hence being initially released through the author's newsletter in the lead up to THE LAST LEGACY’S release.) The bare bones of the story gets told in the main duology, but it was so nice to see it told in full. They are a really sweet couple, and seeing Auster – a Roth of the underworld who doesn’t fit in – fall in love when he knows no one will approve was a super fun dynamic.

DRIFT; WILLA AND KOY

Set after THE LAST LEGACY, and following on from events in NAMESAKE, DRIFT; WILLA AND KOY follows West's sister Willa as she tries to establish the first port on Jeval, the last island between the Narrows and the Unnamed Sea.

It is a glimpse into the life of a port, the tensions between people on the island who want to do things they way they always have and Willa and her business partner Koy's desire to establish a good reputation. There's also the sparks of attraction between Willa and Koy, a partnership with a sprinkle of something else, but both have their own opinions on how to handle the locals.

The way this novella ends very much feels like its setting up another book in this world, as there's a bunch of plot threads left open, and some potential conflict brewing for the Narrows. I have absolutely not objection (and quite a lot of wanting!) to more stories in this world.

BOOK REVIEW: Tides & Drift by @adrienneyoungbooks

4 Stars

If you loved the Fable series then this is a must read as it adds to two storylines that we didn't get in the original books.
The first us Tides and is about Auster (a member of the Roth family who deal in fake gems) and Paj (a deckhand from a ship that stops at the port where Auster lives every 2 weeks). The story was really good and I loved getting to know their history and how their romance started. I loved both characters so this was a fun extra read for me. I did find it to be a little obvious based on what we already knew but I still loved reading it.

Drift is the story of Willa and Koy, after the events of the Fable series. This was my favourite story out of the two as I loved Willa and to see how her life continued was something that I really wanted. To be honest, I think this could have been a full book as there is so much detail and aspects that could be built upon. The ending was quite open so I do hope that we get more of Willa! This novella was filled with ups and downs, drama and suspense. I was on the edge of my seat at one point and it had me hooked from start to finish. I wish there had been a little more about Koy, or even a few chapters from his point of view. It was interesting to be back on Jeval too but from someone's perspective other than Fable.

Adrienne Young can do no wrong in my eyes and these extra novellas definitely added to this series and made me desperate for another full book in this series! Her writing never fails to grab my attention and hold it, plus I love her characters and storylines so so much.

Overall, a great two extra novellas that all Fable lovers will enjoy!

Two novellas set in the world of Fable? There was never any question about whether I'd read them! While Tide is chronologically set between the events of Saint and Fable, I feel it is best enjoyed with a background of who the Roth crime family is - so after reading The Last Legacy, which theoretically comes last in the chronological order. Drift is set after the events of Namesake and best enjoyed in that order, too.

The wold of the Narrows and the Unnamed Sea is one of those places I always enjoy escaping to, and these novellas bring some of the secondary characters onto center stage. I loved learning all about how Auster and Paj met, and getting a glimpse into Willa's future.

I am a forever champion of this world.

The Narrows has my heart and what I wouldn’t give to have an endless stream of these books. In Tides we are blessed with the story of how Paj and Auster meet and run away together pre-Fable and in Drift we get a sneak-peek at Willa’s adventuring post-Namesake.

The novellas were done well in that they can stand alone. While I think readers will appreciate the stories so much more if they have read the other World of the Narrows books, they aren’t strictly necessary to enjoy the novellas for the fun adventures they are.

My biggest and only gripe is that I wish these were each full-length novels and that we got more time to invest in the stakes that pull at these beloved side characters.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, Adrienne Young has quickly become an auto-read author for me and that only cements further with every book.

I read these two Novellas without having read anything else in Fable. I then went and read the novels and re-read the novellas so that I could fully appreciate them.
Having said that, these novellas do work pretty well as standalones, without needing an in-depth knowledge of the lore and world of Fable.

The characters are well rounded, and the relationship between Paj and Auster is beautifully developed in Tides. Drift had less of an impact for me. That is not to say it is not a good novella, for it is. It was a very enjoyable read, and a nice interlude, and background to some favourite characters.

I think if you love the world of Fable you will get something from these novellas & I did enjoy them both. However, I don't think they were long enough to reconnect with the characters having been out of the world of Fable for a while & would be best read immediately, having finished the series.

The writing is good & they were both very easy reads. Although Tides is set at the beginning of the series, I felt like I got more from Drift. Drift, in turn, felt like it was setting up for a new book.

Two short novellas. Having read and enjoyed Fable, it was nice spending more time with some of Adrienne Young’s characters. Learning more about them, and expanding on the world she has created. Thank you to Titan Books and NetGalley for the ARC. The views expressed are all mine, freely given.

Tides and Drift by Adrienne Young
I give this book 4.5 stars

When Auster, a young member of the Roth crime family, meets a deckhand named Paj that he's been sent to rob on behalf of his infamous uncle, his world is turned upside down.
Willa has made a new start on a remote island carving out her own stake in the future of the Narrows. She's found an unexpected business partner in Koy and whether she likes it or not, they are suited in more ways than one.

To enjoy this novella fully you need to have read Fable and Namesake.
A much anticipated return to the Narrows for me and a chance to delve into some of the side characters from previous books which I absolutely loved!
Tides is set before Fable and tells the beautiful story of how Auster met Paj and fell in love and then broke free from family ties.
Drift (my favourite) is set after Namesake and tells the story of Willa and Koy working reluctantly together to create a new port for Jeval aiming to be the last before the unnamed sea.Theres romance,Saltblood ships, crime and adventure and it left me hoping for more in this series.
Thank you to Netgalley,Adrienne Young and Titan Books for my chance to read and review this book.

So, it was nice to be back in the world of the narrows and the unnamed sea. I really loved Tides reuniting with Paj and Auster, seeing earlier versions of the Roths (just as mean and nasty) and Ezra (clearly already conflicted) but Drift was harder as it had been so long since reading the books and given references to events in Last Legacy either implies a potential full return with another adventure or that I have forgotten more of the Last Legacy/ End of namesake that I realised. I want it to be the former but Adrienne seems to be now focused on her excellent novels for adults. This little collection is a wonderful day trip for fans to enjoy and revel in sneaky peaks at the lives of some of the fan favourite side characters but would baffle new readers.

The world of the Narrows and the Unnamed Sea became a fast favourite when I read Fable, it continued into Namesake, Saint and The Last Legacy and I’m so thrilled these novellas now exist too! I can’t get enough of this world and these characters.

Adrienne Young’s writing style is one of my favourites but this particular series evokes such vivid imagery for me, I feel like I can picture everything perfectly which is something I usually struggle with.

These novellas were such a perfect addition to the world of Fable, I’ll happily reread all of these books multiple times in future. A firm fave!

Headlines:
Two packed stories
Unlikely pairings
Dodgy dealings and risk

My favourite kinds of novellas are those set in a world I already have love for. The Fable world is just that and these two pairs of characters held the stage.

Tides took us back into the Roth family with Aus. He was born into the family, controlled and unwilling but resigned to his lot. This mafia-like family remained fascinating and unlikeable. The unlikely connection of Aus to Paj was quite lovely and we saw a slow and tangible build between these two. There was so much to love about this story and it totally got me in the feels.

Drift took us to a fledgling harbour and Willa working with Koy to build a new place for ships to come. There was a fair hand of crime, drama and killing with a tentative romance underpinning. I really liked Willa as a character, her independance and also her care for Ailee was good reading. This one finished in a place where I wanted more but thoroughly enjoyable all the same.

Thank you Titan Books for the eARC.

Tides & Drift is the collection of the two novellas, Tides and Drift, set in the author's Fable universe. Now I love the Fable universe, and I have read (or plans to read) all of the books within it. So when I got the chance to read more from this world, I jumped at the opportunity.

Tides is set before Fable and tells the story of how Auster and Paj meet and fall in love. Meanwhile Drift is set after Nameless and focuses on Willa and her budding relationship with Koy. While Adrienne Young’s writing is as good as always, and the story contains all the things you can expect from the Fable world. But the big problem is that I realized that I never got invested in any of these characters in the original books, so I didn’t end up enjoying the stories as much as I had hoped.

But with that said, if you really liked these characters in the first books - then this is worth a read.
