All of the children enjoy the Alex Neptune series and this one is a great one to add to our family library. The books are exciting and just a bit scary ( not nightmare fodder thankfully). Keep up the good work David Owen, we need more Alex Neptune books.

I’ve been reading older fiction lately (something for my age is needed sometimes), but within minutes of starting this latest Alex Neptune book I was reminded why I enjoy young fiction so much. I had hardly started and I was already chuckling away. David Owen has a way of injecting humor into everyday situations. The children are smart and have the backing of their accepting families. Zoey who loves inventing, often with very unpredictable results recently discovered she also has sea magic. Her long suffering parents simply took the news in their stride merely hoping that she wouldn’t get too carried away with it. Anil had a harder time. His parents are doctors so he had to convince them via an exhaustive presentation on the advantages of sea magic until they agreed that ‘such a rare talent should be nurtured’. Alex’s grandpa is always close by, making sure that nothing too disastrous happens, whilst his body building sister lends her physical attributes to the mix.
In this adventure the three, Alex, Zoey and Anil end up battling zombie pirate underlings of Brineblood who wants to come back to life and unleash his awful magic on the world. They are forced to team up with Mr Argosy, a slippery and usually selfish adult who thinks he knows best, but…. let’s just say that even Grandpa doesn’t like him. Along the way they come not contact with other magic sources and make new friends.
This book is good, innocent fun where family are friends are supportive and they matter. Challenges are faced and overcome and the main characters are funny, quirky and generally relatable. Great for a class read as these books have both male and female protagonists. Definitely recommend it. Will suit 9-12 year olds.

I have been a fan of the Alex Neptune series from the very beginning and the series seems to get better with every book. Whilst Alex's confidence with his magic is evident, Zoey and Anil are still getting to grips with theirs and you see this at the very beginning of the book. However, they don't have long to perfect things before they are catapulted into an adventure that sees them needing to use their magic in order to save, not only their own town, but others as well.

There's a definite creepiness to this book that will delight readers and a quirky take on time-travel that I thought was clever. With their ever-expanding group of humans and animals, I always enjoy the different characters and their nature - there is something for everyone.

An edge of your seat adventure with friendship and doing the right thing at the heart of the book. Alex Neptune Zombie Fighter is a joyous read and I can't wait for the next one!

We're big fans of Alex Neptune in our house so I was delighted to receive an early copy of book 4 in the series. (Thank you NetGalley).

Was great to be back in the world of Haven Bay with Alex, Zoey and Anil and their amazing growing band of misfit found family. Although this is book 4 in the series it isn't necessary to have read the others and you're caught up on any plot you've missed, so although the series is great this can stand alone. I'd agree with the age range of 9-12 as there were parts of the book where I was on the edge of my seat. I raced through this book and thoroughly enjoyed it.

I loved this one! It was creepy, funny, exciting, and it had a new take on time travel that I've not read before. I loved the idea of specific moments in time being trapped inside bottles. I love the magic and the supernatural elements, always with an underlying environmental message.
It was a brilliant read! Thank you for the ARC!

Ever since I read the first line in the first book, I have been hooked on this series. Now with 4 books, I still can’t get enough.
Alex Neptune always thought the sea was trying to kill him but in fact, he is bonded to the sea magic that dwells within Haven Bay and the water dragon who calls it home.
In this exciting adventure, our trio of heroes are all testing out their magic when a strange fog rolls in and makes them ill. They know it is linked to Brineblood’s skull that is hidden under Alex’s bed but they aren’t sure who is behind the fog.
In this thrilling adventure. A new army arises from Brineblood’s evil doings throughout history and Alex comes to the realisation that his generation have been left to pick up the pieces of history’s unwillingness to face facts on the dangers of ocean pollution, and humans on the world. They pick up the mantle to save the world but it will come with some dangerous consequences and tough decisions.
As ever, Alex, Anil and Zoe, work together, boost each other and act as courageous as they can when faced with danger, time and time again. They are best friends and the only hope Haven Bay has in surviving !

A favourite series and with another still to come, I can’t wait!

I really enjoyed this! This series is great and this is a worthy addition to it! I loved the worlds caught in the bottles concept and the quest to go get the bits of trident back… I really enjoy how it all ties back to same baddies in different ways. Also… the friendship and the magic in these books is just lush.
