Elle Kennedy NEVER misses!! Girl Abroad has officially made me a love triangle GIRLIE. I usually hate this trope as I don't like the unknown aspect but I devoured this book!

At this point I fully believe that Elle Kennedy can do no wrong. I did not think I would enjoy this as much as I did. Normally Americans writing British characters really annoys me but Elle did such a great job of writing funny, loveable characters.

Wow, my first Elle Kennedy book and I really enjoyed it! This book definitely lives up to the Elle Kennedy hype - which I’m so glad about.

Abbey just always seemed to be looking for more and wanting to step out of her dad’s shadow and I’m so glad she got to do that in her travels! This love triangle trope was done very well because it could’ve went down the wrong path.

I think abbey picked the right guy, for me with my connections to the characters. I just wish we got to see them more together at the end and feel as though the guy she did pick we didn’t see them together as much in more of a couple capacity before she picked him.

Overall, it was really well written and I also loved that she solved a mystery too, the side plot was a really good narrative route to go down so the whole plot wasn’t based around a trope! A solid 4 star!

To start off with I absolutely loved the off campus and briar u series. I reread them every year and they never fail to hit.

With that in mind I’m not sure what happened here. The writing was not it. The characters were not it. The premise was definitely not it.

The whole setup of Abbey Bly studying abroad for year and ends up rooming with 3 guys??? It’s reminding me of a really cheesy wattpad story.

Also the fact that Abbey was crushing on a guy who already has a girlfriend was a big fat no. Just put me off reading it. The second male interest is Jack which was also very instalust, Immediately after seeing him she’s attracted. There’s no chemistry and no in-depth connection. Aside from the lacklustre love triangle there was a lot of boring bits where Abbey is investigating the background of a painting. I felt zero connection to her, the painting or either of the boys.

Definitely not adding to my list of rereads.

I enjoyed the writing style and premise. I could not connect with the story and the characters. I still recommend it to fans of Elle Kennedy and romance fans.8

I am such a fan of Elle Kennedy and her writing style, this book really did not disappoint!
The plot was well thought out, and the story flowed perfectly.
Abby is beyond relatable and everything you want in an FMC.

Pretty standard fair for Kennedy, leaning more towards YA with this book but in keeping with her style of romance. Not really for me but I’m sure there is a large audience for this book.

After really enjoying the Avalon Bay series, I was looking forward to giving another Elle Kennedy book a go but unfortunately I really didn’t enjoy this one which is a real shame!

One thing Kennedy does well is character development and for the most part I thought this was the case again for Girl Abroad with a few exceptions.

However what I really struggled with was the language and terminology used throughout. Whilst the protagonist is American and she might not have had much knowledge certain dialects and colloquialisms, it very much read that the author was American and maybe hadn’t done enough research into this side of things. Some slang/phrases felt overused and the addition of an Australian character and their slang only made this feel more clunky.

I also really couldn’t get into the love triangle (along with the additional love interests) as it just felt forced and hard to believe, particularly how back and forth Abbey was between the two main love interests. Whilst I was glad with who Abbey ended up going for, it felt very drawn out and made it feel as though the book could have been half the length without losing much.

I would definitely still be interested in reading more of Kennedy’s work but this one just wasn’t for me at all unfortunately!

Abbey is in England and boy is she in for a surprise! (Pun intended!)

This book is fun, but slightly unrealistic with the amount of fun leisure activities these students get up to (how?!)

Unfortunately despite being an Elle Kennedy fan, this one also felt disconnected romantically - the love triangle instead of being filled with intrigue and ambiguity felt really predestined, and the chemistry that usually bleeds through the pages of her books felt totally absent here.

I could not finish this book, I had to soft DNA this book unfortunately. I just couldn’t get into this book and stay gripped. I will be giving it another go though soon.

A fun little read!

Really enjoyed the character development Abbey goes through in this book she really grows as a person which I love to see!
I loved the uni vibe and although this book does have a love triangle I was pleasantly surprised considering I don’t always love that in books!

Elle Kennedy did a pretty good job with the English slang in my opinion 😂 loved the banter between the characters which is always something you can count on with Elle’s writing!

Overall enjoyed this one! Thank you to Netgalley for the arc! 🫶🏼

In Girl Abroad, Abbey moves to London to study and quickly gets tangled up in a love triangle. Meanwhile, her university project involves trying to work out what happened to a mysterious woman in a painting. Overall, I was invested in finding out the ending to both women's love stories. This was my first Elle Kennedy book and I will be checking out her others!

I love Elle Kennedy, can always count on her writing a fun quick steamy romance. I found the amount of personalities and accents a lot to deal with ngl, but it was fun!

Elle Kennedy is such a veteran of the Romance genre, and I have really enjoyed what I've read of her work so far, namely the Avalon Bay series, so I was excited to see her depart a bit from that style of romance with her newest work, Girl Abroad. I have to admit that I found this quite slow to get into, much more so than her other books that I've read, but once it got going I was very engaged in the story, and ended up finishing it in one night as I tend to do with Kennedy's books! I don't ever love a love triangle trope, so I think that definitely dictated my opinion a bit, especially as for the most part I wasn't particularly rooting for one guy over the other. I have to say that I was prepared for Abbey to annoy me as an American in London, and so was pleasantly surprised that she didn't do so - I found her dynamics with her flatmates to be very wholesome and sweet, and I did really enjoy this.

Elle Kennedy's style of writing draws people in, and I can enjoy her book.
This book fell a little flat for me since the romance aspect wasn’t a focus point. It became more of a mystery since the main character had a crush on two guys who were her roommates. I don’t mind love triangle tropes. But this type of love triangle wasn’t it. I don’t know if it was because I hated one of the love interests called Nate; he was a bit of a jerk.
I did feel that the end was a bit rushed when she chose who she felt more feelings for.
But Elle Kennedy did get me engaged in the story, and I was eager to see which two of the love interests she would pick in the end.

Abbey has always lived in her rockstar dad’s shadow, so when she has the opportunity to study for a year abroad she leaps at the chance. However, her all girl roommates her dad has signed off on, turns out to be guys, and not only does she have to lie to her Dad about it, she also has to agree to a no fraternising with her housemates rule, which would be fine if the Australian rugby player wasn’t so hot.
Love triangles, rich spoiled brats, historical conundrums and motorbikes. This book does offer a bit of everything. It didn’t fully capture my full focus but it was a good fun read. And I’m glad she picked the right guy in the
