Description:
A sequel to the classic The Little White Horse, following a descendant of the original moon princess as she returns to Moonacre Valley during the first world war.

Liked:
Lefevre is obviously a dedicated fan of the original, and manages to recreate a lot of the sparkling, jewel-like descriptions of nature and place. New corners of Moonacre are explored, and old favourite characters revisited.

Disliked:
Feels a bit too much of a copy of the original - there's nothing hugely new or interesting going on here. The little white horse herself plays a pretty minor role, and there's no great sense of danger from the antagonists, which means the protagonist doesn't really get to DO very much. The story felt like it ended very abruptly and with little fanfare.

Read This If:
You’re a fan of the original and want more, or if you’ve never read the original but fancy a quaint little adventure set in the English countryside.

The Silver Moth : Sequel to The Little White Horse. I was immediately transported to childhood when I saw this book. The Little White Horse was one of my absolute favourites, and a treasured book. I still have my original dog eared copy and have a read it again a few times in adulthood. I was a bit nervous about reading the sequel, especially as it was by a new author. However, Carol Lefevre has done a brilliant job and has managed to recreate the feeling of Moonacre in this book. I loved it, and feel as though I have been back to that enchanted place. It has been carefully and sensitively written, but is full of the magic and feel of the original. The new story line is exciting, full of adventure and magic. I feel as though I have explored more places in this enchanted landscape. I loved it and will keep it with my treasured old book. Thank you so much for taking me back to Moonacre.
