I feel like I went through the five stages of grief while reading this (in the best way) I LOVED this book!!! its heartwarming, emotional, humorous, and addicting in all the ways I didn’t expect. Sarah Ready delivers a fantastic and unique STEM romance with a ‘freaky friday’ twist that engages the reader from beginning to end.

Serena ‘Ducky’ Otaki is married to her work as a physicist working in Geneva. She meets the handsome Henry Joule in a hilarious meet-cute where she’s found herself stuck to her chair at a restaurant. Henry bounces into action and becomes the hero of the day, helping her get unstuck and sparking a quick friendship. It’s love at first sight, especially for him, and Serena has to quickly remind herself that her one true passion is her career. She finds herself stuck between a rock and a hard place, lies about their night together, inevitably breaking his heart. Fast forward about a year and a half later, they get ‘freaky fridayed’ and wind up in each others bodies. While they try and navigate how to switch back, hilarious antics ensure, their connection becomes stronger, and Serena is hit with the realization that maybe she can still be her while loving someone else.

Serena is a care-free, spirited, messy, career-driven individual who loves coffee, dark chocolate, and wreaking havoc in her life. Henry is a rule-following, uptight, British gentleman who wants marriage, kids, and the whole happily-ever-after. They couldn’t be more opposite, yet they kept finding things in common even when they didn’t want to. Their chemistry was off the charts and the author did a fantastic job at the insta-love and then changing that into a slow-burn sort’ve deal throughout the book.

The pacing of this book was fantastic and I truly didn’t want to put this book down for a second! The writing was almost lyrical with the descriptive writing and characterization. their love being described as electric many times is exactly how I felt reading this book, I could feel their love through the pages. absolutely beautiful!

my favourite part of this book was how Serena went through the book thinking that she would lose herself if she loved someone else. That there was no part of her that thought she could still hold her individuality while intertwining herself with someone she loves. She’s seen that with her parents and has only ever been reminded of it in her early life. I loved the conversations and discussions between her parents, her (and henry) about it. explaining how you have always have a choice in life, even when it comes to love.

I highly recommend this book for a feel-good, entertaining, but also heartwarming romance with likeable characters, easy banter, STEM references, and lots of chemistry (pun intended). I listened to this on audio while reading the physical book and the narrator was fantastic! She had great inflection in her voice and comedic timing was superb!

Thank you Sarah Ready, the publisher, and NetGalley for the ARC! This book releases February 20th, 2024

It had a slow start and at first I didn't think I would finish it. Then they switched and I couldn't put it down. It's a fun freaky friday/rom com story.

Thank you net galley and publisher for this ARC. This book was a fun idea that captured my attention and it’s the first book I’ve read by Sarah Ready. It was a cute story and they characters learned to understand each other.

I loved this book so much!! The humour throughout the book was in the best places and was written amazingly. I loved watching the relationship between Serena and Henry develop into something really cute as the story progressed. I also loved how it was as if the fmc was talking directly to the reader which made it feel like the reader was kind of there. There was also the unexpected turns from the joyful humourous scenes in the book to one's a lot more serious and things that addressed the characters feelings a lot more which was done well.

I think this was such a fun idea. Serena and Henry meet, have a sweet lil romantic night & in classic extreme avoidant attachment style - Serena runs away from the feelings. They end up being forced together in a science experiment gone wrong and a lot of growth happens in true romcom fashion.
I think this was cute, I love how we really got to see a couple truly grow to understand each other.
However, I did find the story sort of lackluster. I didn’t feel connected to the characters or story or compelled to continue. The humor to me felt a little forced, like we were trying to make our FMC quirky. It’s totally possible that the audiobook narrator had an impact on this, as well! Delivery is huge.

Yes If: you love a lady in stem, want a 00’s romcom style book, a fun light read
No If: character depth and plot flow is a priority for you.

This was a delightful book. An “opposites attract” with an uptight Britt and a free-spirited Californian.
Serena is only interested in physics, not love and marriage. On the other hand Henry is all for love and marriage. After an “earth shattering” night together Serena finds out Henry is her new boss! Henry wants more, Serena does not.
I got a Freaky Friday feeling from this story, because one stormy night in the lab of the Hadron Collider, something goes terribly wrong. The next day when Serena wakes up, she is in Henrys body. This is where the story gets interesting. How will they switch back?
I really enjoyed this book. It had romance, drama, comedy, and a cat! I absolutely loved Serena’s cat, Captain Puurk, names for James T Kirk. It is well worth a read!

Switched is a stem romance, second chance at a first chance, with a Freaky Friday twist! Serena is an independent career driven heroine, and Henry is such a sweet MMC. Serena is afraid to lose herself in a great love, and working through that fear is thrust upon her when a strange phenomenon causes them to switch bodies. At first the instalove here had me worried, but the time jump that immediately followed helped me to accept their romance more easily. As you can imagine there were some laugh out loud moments along the way. It was especially entertaining when they were interacting with their families and friends!

I didn’t personally relate super well to the characters, and there’s a little more science talk than I needed, but it didn’t hinder my ability to enjoy the story.

𝐅𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐓𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬: Fans of stem romances and romcoms, who don’t have trouble suspending their disbelief will absolutely love this one. Highly recommend the audiobook if you’re going to pick it up!

A cute Nerdy romance with a Freaky Friday twist? I am hooked! I loved Ghosted so really enjoyed this sequel with her friend Serena.

Switched is a standalone sequel to Sarah Ready’s Ghosted, one of my favorite books of 2023, featuring Jillian’s best friend Serena “Ducky” Otaki, a brilliant American physicist working in Geneva. In a hysterical meet-cute at her favorite local pub, she accidentally sits on wet varnish and asks a handsome stranger, Henry Joules, to help her get unstuck. Although there’s an instant attraction and intense feelings, her one true passion is physics and she has no space in her life for a loving relationship, especially if it means merging their lives and giving up her individuality and career. Henry, also a physicist and her new project lead, comes from a big, loving family and thinks he’s found the woman of his dreams until she plays off their night of passion as just a bit of fun.

Fast forward 427 days and during a heavy thunderstorm, particles collide and they wake up in each other’s bodies. As they go from Geneva to his brother’s wedding in England and then on to her childhood home in California, they tap into each other’s memories, hear about their upbringing from family members eager to share stories, and start to strengthen their connection based on a growing mutual respect. The question is, can a coffee-chugging vegetarian who surrounds herself with chaos and a neat freak who loves his full English breakfast and daily mug of tea, and who can barely tolerate each other, figure out how to switch back? And, if they do, will the stars align for a happily-ever-after for these two lonely souls?

Sarah Ready has quickly become one of my favorite authors. Each book she writes has a unique premise, vivid characters, and a relatively low-angst romance. In Switched, she’s gives us the perfect book boyfriend, a free-spirited female in STEM, and a large helping of magical realism. It’s a joy to read. Highly recommended.

Thank you to NetGalley and W.W. Crown, an imprint of Swift & Lewis Publishing, LLC for the ARC of Switched by Sarah Ready. I received both a ebook and audiobook and switched 😉 between the two.

For the audiobook, I quite enjoyed the narrator that was selected for this book. She did a great job doing back and forth between an English and American accent.

As for the story line, the way which in Ducky (aka Serena) and Henry meet is a great meet cute, leading to quickly learning he is an off limits option (don’t want to spoil why!). And then the switch. Which they then learn the truth about one another. Funny, and heart warming!

This is the 2nd book by Sarah Ready I’ve read and I’m quickly coming to enjoy her style. The 1st was the 1st book in the Ghosted series and I like how she incorporated Jillian and Daniel into this story as well. Helped me understand why this was considered “Ghosted #2”. All in all, a very likable book with likable characters.

I enjoyed this story, but it didn’t grab me quite the same way as the last three books I read by Ready (French Holiday, The Space Between, and Ghosted). Something about the amount of geeky science love in the earlier pages and the way it didn’t quite mesh with the fantastical Freaky Friday-esque aspects later on, just didn’t quite work for me. But still, it had plenty of that Sarah Ready-magic to keep me entertained.

Kelsey Navarro Foster and James Anderson Foster did an excellent job narrating the audiobook.

Thank you Sarah Ready, W.W. Crown, and NetGalley for providing this ARC for review consideration. All opinions expressed are my own.

Every time I read a Sarah Ready book, I know I am in for a new, unique, heartfelt adventure. Switched intrigued me from the start, and I couldn't get enough of Serena and Henry's magical whirlwind of a romance. These two had chemistry right from the start, but Serena didn't believe in love until one fateful night when destiny had a way of switching things up. Both then experienced a whole new perspective and outlook on their lives and fell deeply in love after all.

Overall, I enjoyed this book and look forward to more from Sarah Ready.

I was a little apprehensive going into Switched. The first book in the series, Ghosted, didn't live up to its expectations. I'm happy I decided to give Switched a shot. I loved the concept of this book! Hello Freaky Friday 👋 Although the physics of the book went over my head, I thought the book was fun. I liked that Serena and Henry were able to develop their relationship through their different body experiences. I thought Ready did an incredible job of creating tension between Henry and Serene during their switched body ordeal. The drama in the book worked nicely to expand the character development and plot. If you are a fan of Ali Hazelwood, I recommend this book. Thank you to NetGalley and W.W. Crown for the ARC.

I was giggling so much at the beginning of this nerdy romance that my husband was looking at me like I'd finally lost my mind.

Serena has her one true love, physics, there is not room in her life for another love.
But then one fateful night she meets Henry.
They couldn't be more different, and Serena swears love is out of the question.
Until one night an electrical storm causes the unthinkable, they've switched bodies.

The characters are grow throughout the story which is always a big plus for me.
I just didn't feel a huge connection to the love story. I loved then growing to understand each other's points of view and find respect for the other, but something just fell flat for me.

Review: This is my first @SarahReady book i have read and i am sure that it will not be my last. The pace of this book moved with ease and Serena as a character could stand on her own. The interaction between the reader and the main character kept me engaged and was refreshing to read. This book is a fantastic palate cleanser for those that are used to reading some emotionally heavier books or when coming out of a reading slump.

This books was everything.
It was so fast paced and easy to get into. Right from the start there’s drama which i love.

If you want a freaky friday romance book this is the one for you!

It was easy to follow along and a pretty fast read. You get to see the characters “overcome self challenges” i would say.

I loved how the characters helped eachother through what they were going through and they understood how it felt since it was happening to the both of them.

The tension between these two characters were unmatched. it kept you on your toes wondering.

this book was super unique i’ve never read anything quite like this. and i would definitely read more from this author

i read half this book and listened to the other half via an audio book and both were so good.

OMG I'm obsessed with these books!! I was sure this one couldn't be better than Ghosted (the first one that I just finished a couple days ago) but somehow it was?? Or maybe they're equally good, I don't know, I just know that I absolutely loved this book!!! Apparently there will be a third called Fated which I cannot wait for so I hope it's coming out soon even though technically this one isn't even out yet😂

If you read Ghosted -- the book before this one, though both can be read as standalone novels -- then you already know a little bit about Serena, basically that she's a Star Trek fan, lives in Geneva, Switzerland and is the love 'em and leave 'em type who doesn't plan to get married or fall in love. She's a California girl, super smart and funny and her one true love is physics. In Switched, we meet Henry, the love interest, who is all for love and marriage and has a big loving family that he's very close with. He's also a physics genius like Serena and after a chance encounter he's convinced she's the woman he'll marry. Well... at first. But life, and mostly Serena, have other ideas and they settle on their one night together being a mistake, which of course it is since they are complete opposites and it turns out Henry is Serena's boss -- which she finds out very shortly after their time together. Fast forward about a year and a half and, thanks to some crazy science, the two have switched bodies. The feelings they thought had been put behind them are very suddenly a complicated mess that they have no choice but to solve together since, you know, they ARE each other.

*One Night Stand
*Some Instalove
*Opposites Attract
*Forced Proximity
*Fake Dating
*Only One Bed
*Slow Burn
*Individuality
*Science & Magic

There's so much to say but how to say it without giving everything away?? First, Henry is an uptight British man from a big family who loves tea and organization and Serena is a free-spirited only child who detests tea, obviously coffee is the superior choice, and is more organized chaos than anything else. I love how they are opposites but also have their love of physics in common. I was nervous at first because it seemed like it would be instalove and in a way it is but more of a "recognizing your soulmate" kind of way that isn't easy and lovey-dovey from the jump. I love getting to see Jillian from Ghosted a little bit and that both besties have experienced completely impossible life-altering situations. The scene where Serena realizes she is very much not in her own female body is hilarious and honestly most of her scenes are. The descriptive writing and characterization is fantastic so kudos to Sarah Ready for writing funny, heartwarming, romantic, kinda suspenseful novels! Also the visual aids/doodles and the footnotes were perfect! Almost every scene had me smiling or laughing to myself and it just is a really happy read. I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a feel-good, entertaining, funny romance with likable characters, banter, chemistry, magic and "Freaky Friday" references. Sarah Ready has officially become one of my new favorite authors.

This book has me wishing I was a science girl or Star Trek fan but alas I am not. This did not at all diminish my interest in the book or enjoyment of it but for any physics and Star Trek fans out there, run don't walk to your nearest bookstore or library on February 20th to grab this beauty.

Sarah Ready is a rom-com genius - I would read anything she has written! Ghosted was one of my absolute favorite reads of 2023, so I was delighted to learn that it was the first book in a series. I was so excited! I could not wait to read the second book. And boy, did Switched deliver! I loved Serena and Henry's story so much! It exceeded all my expectations and will stay one of my top reads of 2024. This magical romantic comedy was amazing - a beautifully written love story for the ages. It's sweet, humorous, and heartwarming all at the same time. I enjoyed the fast pace of this nerdy, opposites attract romance in all its 'Freaky Friday' body switch goodness. This concept made for some hilarious moments. Sarah did a fantastic job of showcasing the difficulties that Serena and Henry faced while they were in each other's bodies. The reader is taken on a journey of discovery as they follow Serena and Henry's adventures and witness the many humorous and unexpected moments that arise from their predicament. I couldn't help but fall in love with these quirky, adorable characters as they found their way to their true love story. This unique storyline had me 100% invested. As with Sarah's books, this story will stay with me for a very long time - it's that good! Pick this up if you love a delightful rom-com full of science and geekery!

A Freaky Friday romance of 2 physicists, one that thinks love at first sight is a thing and the other not so much. Very slow build even with the audiobook but I did enjoy it once the switch happened.
Like the first book, Ghosted, very nerdy and STEM focus which I enjoy. This can be read as a stand-alone or apart of the series. They do bring up the characters from the first novel a couple a times.
At first I loved to second view towards the end but I had 2 issues. 1. I wish it was a different narrator or this other listen to the previous voice to ensure that they are matching accents. 2. The chapter felt like it dragged, they were needing to fill space for this one person and half of it seemed to mimic the same book we just read.

I have only recently discovered Sarah Ready and I continue to be impressed with all of her books. The science in this book was a bit over the top for me (yep, I didn't understand half of it...lol) but it set up the story perfectly.
I would recommend reading, Ghosted, before Switched.

Thank you to NetGalley & Sarah Ready for the eARC, I will definitely be recommending this book/series!
