This was a fun silly read! I couldn’t stand the narrators voice as Henry but once they swapped bodies her voice was fine lol some parts went a little science nerd heavy for my liking but overall I thought it was sweet and charming and I love the relationship they built.

This book was cute! It was definitely a good palate cleanser, and an easy listen. Honestly, I’m not a huge fan of breaking the 4th wall, and I really would have ignored it had it not been specifically mentioned. It was just a little off putting to me, personally.

Like I said, this book was cute. If you love science and romance, I would definitely give it a listen or read! Personally, a lot of the science mentioned were things that were lost on me, so a little too niche for my preference.

I was able to listen to this as an ALC for my willing and honest opinion and want to thank the author and NetGalley for that.

Can one night equal love at first sight? Idk! But that would be scary…right? And run away bc he’s your new boss and science is more important than mushy feels?! Maybe. Ducky meeting Henry in a Geneva bar seemed like a dream, he was beautiful and funny and… When she ungracefully tells him it’s not gonna work out, the pair works together smashing atoms (not a euphemism) at the Large Hadron Collider, until one night a storm hits and data goes wild and they wake up in each others bodies!! This is a cute and fluffy romance with a sciencey twist delivered with lots of mirth by the narrator!

A charming tale of two complete opposites, whose lives get intertwined due to a mix of fate and magic. This is the romance version of the Freaky Friday premise, where two people switch bodies and lives, and they have to work out their differences in order to switch back.
I loved it. The author's use of first person was endearing. It made me smile, it made me laugh. It wasn't a tear jerker, but there were some touching family moments. The best word I can use to describe it is charming.
I listened to the audiobook, and the narrator did a great job doing different accents and differentiating between male and female voices.
Also, I read this book not knowing that it was part of a series, but it didn't matter because this book can stand on its own.

This is my first book by Sarah Ready but I’ve already got additional books by her on my Kindle queued up and ready to go.

This book was a delightful take on “Freaky Friday”. It was fun. It was funny, and I adored the FMC.

The book follows Serena Otaki who is a brilliant and beautiful physicist who’s spent her whole life avoiding love in favor of her career. She’s messy and unorganized and totally relatable. Henry Joule (yes that Joule for my fellow science nerds) is her uptight, meticulous new boss. Did I mention he’s an Englishman and that they may have had a night of passion before they realized Henry was her new boss?

These two collide one night in the most unexpected way, leaving them in each other’s bodies. Utter chaos ensues and what’s left is a hilarious story of two people who learn that love sprouts in the most unpredictable places with people that you never expected.

As these two literally walk a mile in each other’s shoes, they get a deeper understanding and appreciation for how the other side and gender lives.

I will say that I did listen to the audiobook and read on my kindle at the same time. I found that the audiobook was fun, and the narrators were fantastic, but the story is mostly told from Serena’s point of view. I think that narration from Henry would have helped me keep the dialogue less confusing since they were in each other’s bodies. Also, there are some cute illustrations in the printed copy.

Overall, I really enjoyed this book, and I feel like the concept was well done. This is a great book to grab a cup of coffee…or tea with and cozy up for an afternoon. Thank you to NetGalley and Swift & Lewis Publishing, for the advanced reader’s copy.

I was gifted the audiobook of this from netgalley.

This was great, I really really enjoyed it. This story is very similar to Freaky Friday - which was a childhood fave of mine! The story is mostly through Serena’s pov and I really enjoyed it this way. It was cool seeing her be able to figure out how many ways people can love.

The story was funny, and had many moments where I laughed! I genuinely enjoyed the banter.
The narrorators were awesome! Definitely had an impact on the story.

This is a sequel- but can definitely be read as a standalone. :)
Thank you for this!

First thing I want to say, is that I sped through this book and greatly disappointed I can’t stay in Serena and Henry’s timeline. The story had the right amount of funny, bantering, and despair for me. I say “despair” lightly, as it’s about a woman who isn’t ready for love and its challenges. But she finds an amazing guy who makes all the sacrifices of work, personal interests, and lifelong commitment worth it. The moment she broke the 4th wall, I knew this was going to be a great book that would make me laugh at loud. I loved the twists and turns throughout the book, and the ending had my jumping out of my socks scared. So thank you Sarah Ready for capturing my heart at its fullest through your story.

Switched is Freaky Friday amped up with science.
The chaos that ensued, particularly with family and friends, was entertaining, more so with Henry's family and their collective craziness. But Jillian and her bat did make an appearance (from Ghosted, book one of the series). And Fran with the mean right hook! I enjoyed the cameos.
Serena and Henry were both interesting characters, and I loved seeing their journey. I liked seeing Serena realize love isn't all or nothing. And once Henry realized where Serena's fears stemmed from, he was finally able to love her in the way she needed to be.
I'm with Serena in not believing in love at first sight. But watching her realize she had fallen for him over the last year and a half despite herself was such a fun trek to watch.
One thing I didn't like was how Serena kept talking to the audience. It took me out of the story every time.
The author does a lot more tell than show. Also, she overused phrases like "cedar and starlight". Every time Serena mentioned Henry, she didn't need to mention how he smells to her. A few times, yes. But not multiple times each chapter. I did feel like some places were extra wordy when they didn't need to be, especially if we were given long explanations instead of being shown.
I love a woman in STEM. And a male virgin! Although I was surprised by the latter do to how readily Henry jumped into bed with Serena.
Overall, I enjoyed the story. I'm glad there wasn't a third act breakup, which is a common plot device in romcoms.
3.5/5 stars. I would recommend!

Switched is a hilarious, enemies to lovers romance with a twist. Serena and Henry fall in love by switching bodies accidentally one night at work when the atom smashing machine they work with goes haywire. I love that the heroine is a woman in a STEM field and is perfectly happy without a man. I love the way she is portrayed with confidence and self assuredness. Serena and Henry have great chemistry and I found myself cheering for them to get together. It was interesting how much they learned about their differences by being in each other’s bodies and how those differences made them a stronger couple. Definitely recommend this book!

Serena Otaki has a rule for herself. No falling in love. Her one true love is physics and she doesn’t want to lose herself, and her love of physics, to a man. Henry Joule is her complete opposite; he has many loves, including physics, family, and friends. And he’s not afraid to fall in love.
When our two protagonists meet for the first time, they have an instant magnetic pull to each other. This attraction- love- is what causes Serena to disappear after their first encounter. The draw to Henry is too great that she fears she will lose everything she loves to become a wife. Little does she know that Henry Joule is her new boss.
A year later, the pair are at work when a strange electrical failure occurs that causes both parties to wake up in the other person’s body. This unlikely duo has to work together to figure out how to switch back to their own bodies while navigating each other’s quirks.

I selected this book without knowing it was a sequel but that didn’t matter, it is definitely a book that can stand on its own. The story and characters are cute and the book is well written. There is a lot of quirkiness to it, like footnotes and graphs, that make it fun and a little more interesting.
The narration is a little slow so I listened at 1.5 instead of my usual 1.25 but other than that it’s very easy to listen to.
Overall it was a little too science focused for me personally. If you are into physics and good-guy love stories, this book is for you! I would recommend this book to anyone that enjoys books like Love, Theoretically.

This audiobook took a while for me to get invested in.

“I only fear two things in life. Love and Spaghettification”

This was nice read and I appreciated watching Serena & Henry getting to understand the other better whilst they literally walked in each other’s bodies.

His large family was fun to read about. The hang ups that Serena experiences in relation to love are explored.

Thanks to W.W. Crown, an imprint of Swift and Lewis Publishing, and Netgalley for the audio book. All thoughts are my own.

Switched by Sarah Ready was a sweet tale of two people in love with a sci-fi bent. I really loved the way this story was told and the venture away from the mundane and instead weaves a story with interesting plot points and superb storytelling.

Switched

I was kindly gifted the audiobook of this from netgalley.

This was brilliant, I really really loved it. It has freaky Friday vibes which was amazing. Loved how being each other bodies was able to show our main character Serena that there are many ways that people can love.

This story is mostly from Serena pov with moments from the lovely Henry

The story was funny, sweet and really enjoyable.
The narrators for this book were brilliant.

Honestly this book was so good. I can't wait to go back and read the first one and I am looking forward to the third book in this series. You can definitely read this book as a standalone.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an advanced audio copy of “Switched” by Sarah Ready. All opinions are my own.

I previously read her book “Ghosted” and got a glimpse at this character so I am glad she is getting her own story.

I love a “freaky friday” switched situation so that was part of what drew me to this book. So far I am enjoying the magical / fantasy of this romance series!

The narrators were great!! I just did not like amount of science jargon. It made me zone out during those parts or want to skip ahead. The FMC was not likeable in my opinion.

I really enjoy this book
I realize I’m such a fan of magic realism in contemporary romance
This book is like freaky Friday with a twist
Second chance romance, workplace romance and a magical body swap between our FMC and MMC

The dialogues are amazing
The way this book describes the experience of a man in a woman’s body and vice versa is certainly… interesting
But I had so much fun listening to this audiobook

There’s really nothing much to say other than I highly recommend this book if you like magic realism in your books
It’s a solid 4 stars for me

Thank you to Sarah Ready and Netgalley for providing me with this audiobook in exchange for an honest review

Thank you to NetGalley and W.W. Crown and Imprint of Swift & Lewis Publishing for granting me access to this book in exchange for an honest review.

Switched is a pleasant, relatively lighthearted rom-com. It features body swaps and enemies-to-lovers if you’re into that kinda stuff. It’s some cute stuff, and if you like a cosy casual read, I think this fits right in with that.

I listened to the audiobook, with the story mainly told from the female character’s perspective, all in first person. It had some meta moments, which I get can be funny, but didn’t really work for me. Minor tidbit, the male narrator’s voice didn’t really match up with the “male voice” the female narrator was doing. I found this rather jarring, such that I feel like it would have been slightly better without him. Sorry.

I don’t know how I feel about the characters overall, their motivations and convictions didn’t really inspire me, felt slightly one-note in order to push the narrative a certain way. The body swap was not explained, especially, in a book starring physicists. Either let science explain it, with weird blackhole nonsense, or lean into the magic and their disbelief of it rather than just some random psychic.

Anywho, the book still provided an enjoyable escape from reality, and that's a win in my books.

Switched by Sarah Ready is a good fit for readers looking for a lighthearted and emotional romance story, centered around the theme of two people from different walks of life finding love and connection after unexpectedly swapping bodies in a sci-fi setting.

The beginning of this book reminded me a lot of the Bellow Zero short story, not because pf a repetitive narrative bit because of the chemistry between characters.
Below Zero vibes turn into Freaky Friday vibes and by the end is just a standard rom com.

It was a good book. An entertaining story. As a woman in STEM, I see myself in some of the main characters choices. The main characters best friend is a missable character because the story is so focused on the Duckie and Henry.
The breaking of the forth wall was inconsistent over the book.
