This book is filled with fact-based information presented in the most delightful and entertaining way. Dr Amir Khan's voice is incredibly engaging, enthusiastic, and actually made the content exciting and entertaining. I will definitely be purchasing it for the children in my life.

Baby explanations in a 'different families' context - it works.

I wasn't sure what I was expecting with this. I didn't actually realise it was a 'how babies are made' book! Yet it is, though couched inside pages talking about what different families there are out there, from the typical nuclear family to those with parents of different genders, children who live in care homes or with relatives, those with two households, etc.

And it worked really well. We got to meet a range of children living with different adults before then delving into how a baby is added to a family. It was a great combination.

I listened to this alone before sharing it with my nearly 7-year-old. And while I think he'll get a lot out of it, the audio format may be a bit fast, with a lot of terminology relating to pregnancy and babies coming at the reader in quick succession. This might be better on the page.

The 'how babies are made' page (sorry, can't comment on layout/diagrams of course) is covered in enough biological detail to be accurate without becoming too graphic for a young audience. It's honest, as I like to be with my boys and leaves it open to adults to add more details as they see fit.

I'll be seeing if I can find the paper copy to complement the audio.

For curious questioners aged 5-9.
