Quite a decent little read, that would make for an entry to a quite decent franchise, given a tail wind. We're told this was written when the author was eight, but not that she's created any more in the same world. Either way, Stan is friends with all the crayon characters that live in the rarefied place, Colorful County, and is summonsed there when a prized birthday cake goes missing before the party at which it's due to be revealed. All of them are suspects, but there is more to crayons – and colours – than how it is when they're just there one at a time. So, yes, there is a touch of a lesson here about how crayons work, and of course the moral story of a wrong righted, all in a tight little read with strong illustrations. If anything it's the characterful crayons – having more about them than you might think to look at our world's examples – that make you think this could be a series.

This was a beautifully illustrated super cute mystery that also teaches about the colours. I liked the story and would like to read more from this author in the future.

A really fun book that we loved reading! It was a clever illustration of a whodunit while the kids also learn about colours. The illustrations are also quite nice and engaging for children's.

This was so so cute! A terrific book on colors for all boys and girls. Not only is it a mystery, it has a great moral to the story.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with this book for free in exchange for my review! All opinions are my own.

This book reminded me of books that I read as a child such as The Boxcar Children or Cam Jansen. I thought this book was very charming and I enjoyed it even as an adult. I thought the story was pretty easy to follow, but this book is probably suited for children older than kindergarten. I recommend this book. It was fun and entertaining.

Thank you NetGalley for providing me with this arc in exchange for my honest review.

Kids are going to love this one. It’s very colorful and entertaining.

Stan is drawing in his room when his pink crayon starts glowing. Colorful County is in trouble and needs Detective Stan the Crayon Man’s help!

Pretty Pink has a bakery and a birthday cake has been stolen. So Stan looks for clues and questions a lot of crayons. It did bother me that he accused one of them after finding a clue, instead of just asking where he/she was. That would have made him realize that that crayon couldn’t have stolen the cake, without risking offending it.

Stan is very smart. The way he eventually found the perpetrators was so clever and I loved how they fixed their mistake! I almost forgot to mention Stan’s cute little hamster sidekick :).

We follow Stan as he enters Colourful County to solve a crime. Along the way he meets a number of different coloured crayons, each with their own unique personalities.

I found this to be a memorable and engaging way to teach my child different colours.

Each coloured crayon had their own story. The author cleverly used alliteration, alongside highlighting the characters names in their own colour. All of the techniques used within the book will aid your child’s learning, they even included an activity at the end to show how to make other colours.

I know this one is going to become a firm favourite in our house.

This book is cute, fun, and educational. I loved how the author included a lesson on what colors mixed make what color in a unique way. The illustrations are well-designed and perfect for kids. I suggest this book to parents and kids looking to teach or learn about colors. The story is adventurous and kids will learn without realizing it.

Love Always, Catherine

This was a cute, fun and quick read. My toddler was very interested in this book while reading and was very upset that the birthday cake went missing.. "Oh no! Where did it go?!" We would definitely check out other books from this author based on our experience with this one book.

5 ⭐️
Colorful. Imaginative. Sweet. Educational.

Pretty Pink crayon is in trouble, and Stan is on a mission to help solve the case of Mellow Yellow’s stolen birthday cake.

Stan puts his detective skills to work, exploring clues and interviewing a cast of colorful characters. The illustrations are so adorable and inviting, and the progression of the story exercises imagination and critical thinking skills.

The final page has a nice little chart of what happens when you blend colors, perfect for all little budding artists.

This book is perfect for Art Teachers, School Libraries and in the home. Likely appealing most to children ages 2-6. And adult children like myself ☺️

Thank you to NetGalley, MamaBear Books, and Christine Tussing for this ARC in exchange for an honest review!

Stan goes on a quick adventure with his crayons that will delight your little one and teach them about colors and detective skills at the same time. Perfect for readers learning their colors as well as for anyone who loves a mystery. I loved the illustrations!

This was an AMAZING kids detective story for young kids. It reads very similar to Agent Lion. The illustrations are fun and really add depth to the story. LOVED IT!

Great message for children using a real life famous example. Most of us know the leaning tower of Pisa but not the story behind it. Things won’t always turn out as planned but are perfect just as they are. I enjoyed the glossary of terms as well as the history provided at the end.

This story is a cute story about colors and how to combine them in order to get other colors. I only wished it had maybe 1-2 more chracters made out of multiple colors 😊.

Thank you for this book.

From the minute I saw the cover, I knew I had to get this book for my kids! The artwork is so eye catching all the way through and it was a fun little who-done-it that uses critical thinking skills, not to mention the fun crayon names a long the way and a surprise lesson in color mixing! I loved this book!

What a unique, fun and engaging book! We absolutely loved the story, the illustrations, and the detective component of the story that engaged the kids in helping to figure out who stole the cake. It was the perfect length and was really creative. I couldn't recommend this one more!
