I thought this was fantastic that the story lives up to the name Body Snatcher. The characters worked well in this universe and I enjoyed the overall feel of the supernatural and horror elements. A.L. Whyte writes a strong story and I'm glad I got to read this.

A.L. Whyte's Body Snatchers is a very short, quick and easy to read horror novelette -15 pages. Without ruining too much for any potential reader as it is such a short story it asks What happens when we die and are revived? Is it really our soul returning to our body or can it be stolen by other entities? Is Rashad able to save his wife or will he have to pick between his wife or his daughter? The cliff hanger ending is pretty good but I felt like the story could have been expanded on and felt a bit rushed.

I dnf the creepiness was there but didn’t peak much of my interest during the read. It had a possibility to be longer to give the development to the story but it lacked in that area for me.

This Def was a very short read full of creepy intense vibes!

There were a few writing things that fould have been fixed but overall was good and wish it would have been longer!

The plot and character development were severely lacking. The dialogue felt juvenile. I finished it because it was so short, but could have DNF’d after the first paragraph.

A super short, fast-paced horror novella about demonic possession. I feel that the story was written effectively and packed a punch for 20 pages in length however personally I found the dialogue to be somewhat comical at times especially with all the capitals (e.g. “OH HELL NAWWWW” .. but that’s just me!)

I actually didn’t expect the ending so that was great and Aunt Sheree is definitely my fave character in this book with her strong, independent woman witchy vibes.

Simple, dark, and quick 20 page story surrounding possession. I didn't realize it was as short as it was going into it but that's okay. Overall, I thought it was fine. // 3 stars

Now, before I begin my review, I found just one trigger warning while reading which was the following…

- Homophobic slur

If this triggers you, please do not read this book. Moving along, this was the first time I’ve ever read Whyte and his style of writing is of high quality. Granted, it is a very small sample size but I thought he did a great job getting right into the story and keeping me hooked from beginning to end. I loved the intro to set the tone of the book as it was pretty intense and worked very well to hit me with a brutal shock at first.

Once it happened, I was even more excited since demonic horror, when done right, is a whole lot of fun to read. I did not see that coming and loved every moment after because things got weird, creepy, and disturbing. That’s the gist of this book as it was a fun, quick, devilish kind of ride. Don’t worry, I won’t spoil anything for you but this was an awesome novella for the most part.

I loved the pacing of “Body Snatcher” and how creepy it was. This is one of the shortest horror books I’ve ever read in my life and I enjoyed it. I consider this perfect for a day off at home or a weekend read in a café. It has some nice plot twists but the only thing I didn’t like was that I was able to predict a big one towards the end.

It was something I saw coming a mile away but besides that, this was still a good time. When it comes to the ending, it was decent but feels like more could potentially be on the horizon, which is a good thing. I hope Whyte continues this story or considers writing more demonic horror in the future. I’d also love to see a fully fleshed-out novel to continue this story, especially since this could be considered a prequel to hopefully, bigger and even crazier events ahead.

I give “Body Snatcher” by A.L. Whyte a 4/5 for being one of those super-quick reads that delivered some astounding demonic horror. It was effective for the most part and even though one big plot twist was too predictable for me, I will remember this book for being a memorable one. I hope Whyte either continues this or keeps writing more in this ever-popular demonic subgenre of horror. He’s an author to keep an eye on and I look forward to what he has planned in the future. What a wild ride!

Micah is living an amazing life with an amazing husband and they are about to become parents. As a doula, this story hit me in the gut in the beginning because Black women are not heard or listened to when it comes to their bodies. Black maternal death rates are staggering.

Micah dies during childbirth, but she comes back. Yet, she's different. Her husband, Reshad goes on a wild journey to find out what's going on with his wife.

I wish this was longer. The overall story is so good and I could most definitely see this as a movie! There's so much to like about it.

There are a few minor errors to note such as quotations used when no one is speaking.

If you're looking for a quick, creepy read, this one is perfect.
