Lucy Vine is fast becoming one of my go-to authors, when I want a modern romcom. She always brings what I need - a brilliant heroine, some kickass best friends, a will they/ wont they romantic interest, and a plot that will grip you from page one.

In 'Date with Destiny', Ginny is happily engaged to Daniel, working in her celebrity mother Celeste's jewellery shop, and is generally pretty happy with life. She sometimes thinks back to when she was 16 and a fairground fortune teller made 6 predictions that would happen in 16 years time - 3 depressingly awful (heartbreak, loss of independence and a death) and 3 utterly wonderful (a lifechanging trip, reconnecting with someone, meeting your soulmate) - but she tries not to give them too much attention, surely its all made up - and besides, she has her soulmate, Daniel.

Their wedding preparations are fully in swing; Celeste is taking over all of the arrangements but Ginny tries to make peace with the fact that her planned quiet intimate wedding is now spiralling out of control. But then the predictions start creeping into real-life and Ginny has to face the future that she never wanted to happen. Her wonderful best friends Myfanwy and Solani help her navigate what's happening to her, offering her a shoulder to cry on or to be a sounding board as she tries to work out where her well-planned life is going.

There are some brilliant laugh out loud moments as well as times when I gasped in shock at what had just happened. 'Date with Destiny' is a perfectly paced, highly entertaining read, ideal for a bit of escapism.

Thank you for my eARC of this book. I am honestly a little hit and miss with Lucy’s books but adore the ones I do enjoy. I really liked the premise of this one and I felt it delivered. Overall an enjoyable read.

Great quick read with lots of humour and fab characters. Really enjoyed the premise of the six predictions and how they were interpreted into Ginny’s life.

Enjoyed the relationships between Ginny and the side characters, especially Myfanwy and Toni and also appreciated the moments she had with her love interests (with of course the best man winning in the end).

Surprisingly my first Lucy Vine novel but doubt it will be my last!

Review: I love Lucy Vine books so much, she just seems to write to appeal to my lifestyle and my sense of humour and so how could I complain? The speed with which I tore through this book once I picked it up was intense, I just couldn’t put it down, I wanted to read on and find out what would become of Ginny, her friends, her family and, most importantly, her psychic predictions!

Ginny is great because she is so easy to relate to. She works in her family’s jewellery business (which definitely gave me Bridesmaids vibes) and she has a pretty settled life at the start of the novel. Then something shakes everything up like a snowglobe and we get to be with her as she tries to piece her life back together and move on with this set of psychic predictions hanging over her. I think my favourite of the predictions was definitely her life-changing trip, it was clear what it was going to be and it made me laugh out loud whilst reading a LOT!

Ginny’s team behind her are a varied bunch and I always love that shout Lucy Vine books, she really does make her characters like the kind of people you have as friends in real life. People aren’t all the same age in a friendship group, people come and go and people have very different lifestyles and are still able to be friends. I always feel like I am seen and I am represented in one of her books and I loved Ginny’s friends and family in Date With Destiny! I thought it made a real change that Ginny’s sister was part of the group and was just accepted even though she was younger and I like that the friends didn’t always go down the cliche route when it came to major life events!

This book was just a really good time! I was invested in the story straight away, behind Gunny every step of the road. Lucy Vine made me laugh, she made me think and she entertained me from start to finish. I highly recommend Date with Destiny, I think it’s got something for everyone and definitely one that should be in your bag this summer!

Lucy Vine's latest book is a delightful read, reminiscent of her earlier works. While it occasionally veers into the realm of cliché and convenience, overall it's a captivating story filled with genuine humor. The characters are well-developed, even if at times frustrating, and I appreciated the journey they undergo to find happiness. The themes of female empowerment and support are handled well, adding some depth to what could have been a simple rom-com. Despite its light-hearted tone, the book subtly addresses important issues and I loved the valuable lessons given without overwhelming the reader.

This is such a fun read!

About to be 32 year old Ginnys world is turned upside down when predictions made by a fairground fortune teller when she was 16 start to come true.

This was a fab idea and brilliantly executed. It’s also laugh out loud funny - that scene with the mushrooms especially!

Absolutely loved Ginnys friend Myfanwy especially and their relationship is very much friendship goals stuff.

Throw in Ginnys romantic entanglements and you have a perfect holiday read

Ginny's life gets turned upside down when 6 predictions from her past seem to be coming true, this was such a gripping plot and I couldn't wait to see what was next. I loved all the characters in this book (except a couple, IYKYK 😒)
My only wish was for a little more Zach time 🥰

Date with Destiny - Lucy Vine
4⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Another book filled with Lucy Vine’s cheeky charm, humour and wit.
We follow Ginny as she embarks on her 32nd year, one that she’s been dreading after a psychic gave her some predictions to watch out for.
This follows a journey of self discovery, friendships and love and does so it that unique way that Vine does where it feels like a friend recounting a story to you.
If you live Bristish humour, sarcasm, great one liners and some romance…this one is for you.
Again, Lucy Vine proves why I will always pick up something she writes 😁
Thank you to NetGalley and Simon and Schuster for this e-arc in exchange for an honest review.

"The trouble with spending half your life with six psychic predictions hanging over your head is that your friends never let you forget about it."

Lucy Vine just writes books that girls want to read — they’re full of real women, beautiful friendships, and such relatable chaos that makes it feel like it could’ve happened to you or your friends.

I fell in love with Ginny right away - her humour, her wit, her slightly chaotic energy, her brutally honest awkwardness and the way she doesn’t really believe in psychics but can’t help but wonder if these silly predictions could mean something. Her narration was fabulous, so easy to read in such a casual, conversational tone that felt like a friend telling us a story. The supporting cast of characters were beautiful too, amazing women with stunning, complex and loving relationships that just made me smile.

There’s some slow burning romance, a lot of self discovery, family drama and a dose of silly fun as we go through Ginny’s weirdest year on the planet yet, moving along at a brilliant pace that kept me hooked - bringing some very real feelings and dotting in some little romcom, storybook chaos along the way for something that was just so much fun.

A joyous story about love in all its forms and another magnificent release from Lucy Vine.

This one follows Ginny who's been given six predictions about her life, including when she's going to meet her soulmate. The only problem is she's already getting married. This was full of fun and humour but the characters didn't quite work for me. I found everyone right on the border of endearing and frustrating. Not giving any spoilers about love interests but I also didn't feel the spark where I should have. Nevertheless Lucy Vine certainly has a specific voice and people who love her work should find this one fun.

What a lovely, georgus, heart - warming book from Lucy Vine - it felt like reading her first novels. Actually, I had a feeling that I'm reading Lindsay Kelk, this book was such light - hearted and filled with genuine humour.
Sure, there were moments that I didn't love so much, that felt, let's say, over - the - top and oh - so - convenient, and also after ditching the destiny curve the book started to feel a bit too forced, bot overall it was really a great book. The characters were really well written, they were sometimes truly annoying and their actions made me want to bang my head on the wall, however I like the way Ginny and her mother and sister were forced to take to find themselves and discover what it is that makes them happy in life. I especially liked the angle with the girls power, the women surrounding Ginny and how much they supported each other.

Under all the lightheartedness there are some issues hidden and some lessons to be learnt and the author has written them very skilfully, not overwhelming the readers. There is much more than just a rom - com to it and I liked it.

I absolutely loved this book. It’s funny and really easy to read. I read this from start to finish in a day it was that good. Will definitely read more from this author.

For laugh out loud funny books, I always turn to Lucy’s novels. She has such a gift for bringing lightheartedness to her characters, and humour that bubbles throughout. Her latest novel is no different, though the main character, Ginny, is pretending she doesn’t have a lot to worry about. Turning 32, she remembers vividly the predictions made by a psychic when she was 16 – three good, three bad. It doesn’t sound so bad on the surface, and quite vague, but one – meeting her soulmate – isn’t ideal considering she’s getting married in a month. With her closest friends and family, Ginny must navigate her 32nd year and all that it brings. Like the predictions, well, predicted, it’ll be a mixed bag of positive and negative events but done in Lucy’s quintessentially comedic way.

I was excited to read this book and sadly I was let down. I felt that it was rushed and I couldn't really connect with the main character Ginny. It also seemed to randomly jump scenes at times and this made the plot hard to follow. I also felt that it was a little bit too predictable and the ending of the book was really rushed.

There's some really funny lines in Date with Destiny, and it's an easy read.

I've enjoyed Lucy's previous books, but I did feel like the author was on auto-pilot with this one. It didn't feel like the '6 predictions' hook was enough to propel the story, and I struggled to finish it. There were too many characters for me, and I think that meant the focus on Ginny was lost. I didn't really get a sense of who she was or what she wanted - it is interesting to have an introvert as a MC, but that does mean they're not going to be super-proactive or outwardly compelling.

The cover and title make this look like a rom-com, but really it's more introspective than that.

All in all, it did feel a bit rushed and perhaps you could tell that the author wasn't really into this book as much as previous efforts.
