I absolutely loved this book. It’s funny and really easy to read. I read this from start to finish in a day it was that good. Will definitely read more from this author.

For laugh out loud funny books, I always turn to Lucy’s novels. She has such a gift for bringing lightheartedness to her characters, and humour that bubbles throughout. Her latest novel is no different, though the main character, Ginny, is pretending she doesn’t have a lot to worry about. Turning 32, she remembers vividly the predictions made by a psychic when she was 16 – three good, three bad. It doesn’t sound so bad on the surface, and quite vague, but one – meeting her soulmate – isn’t ideal considering she’s getting married in a month. With her closest friends and family, Ginny must navigate her 32nd year and all that it brings. Like the predictions, well, predicted, it’ll be a mixed bag of positive and negative events but done in Lucy’s quintessentially comedic way.

I was excited to read this book and sadly I was let down. I felt that it was rushed and I couldn't really connect with the main character Ginny. It also seemed to randomly jump scenes at times and this made the plot hard to follow. I also felt that it was a little bit too predictable and the ending of the book was really rushed.

There's some really funny lines in Date with Destiny, and it's an easy read.

I've enjoyed Lucy's previous books, but I did feel like the author was on auto-pilot with this one. It didn't feel like the '6 predictions' hook was enough to propel the story, and I struggled to finish it. There were too many characters for me, and I think that meant the focus on Ginny was lost. I didn't really get a sense of who she was or what she wanted - it is interesting to have an introvert as a MC, but that does mean they're not going to be super-proactive or outwardly compelling.

The cover and title make this look like a rom-com, but really it's more introspective than that.

All in all, it did feel a bit rushed and perhaps you could tell that the author wasn't really into this book as much as previous efforts.

I loved this book, the plot was new to me and exciting especially as the predictions start to become true.

I loved this! The concept was really fun and I enjoyed following Ginny as her predictions seemingly started to come true.

I really like Lucy Vine's writing style, and the characters were all wonderfully realistic. I loved the scenes in the jewellery shop and enjoyed reading about all the proposals. I love love!

The epilogue had me laughing out loud, brilliant!

Overall I would absolutely recommend this book, it was great fun to read.

When Ginny was 16, a fortune teller made six predictions that will come to pass once she turns 32. When those predictions seemingly start to come true one by one, Ginny is left dealing with the aftermath and trying to take the reins of her own life.

This was my first read by this author and it was an utter delight! I initially thought the book would be infused with magical realism, but I actually preferred the path the author has taken. It is much more a debate of predetermined faith vs. free will, questioning how much control we have over our own life. Ginny was such a well-rounded and relatable character; an introvert who has a hard time standing up for herself, steamrolled by her overbearing mother and at times somewhat passive in letting life just happen to her. It was a joy to follow her journey and I especially enjoyed the friendship and support system Ginny had (we all need a friend like Myfanwy in our life!) The book was genuinely funny with the epilogue being pure perfection that actually made me laugh out loud.

Thank you NetGalley and publishers for the ARC.
