I didn't realise that this was the third book in a series so having not read the other two I was completely lost in regards to the plot which is completely on me and not the book. However it is clear from this sampler that Victoria Aveyard is a very talented author and I loved the descriptions and imagery created in this extract. The plot moved very quickly and despite not really understanding what was happening I was never bored.

Despite not typically being a huge fantasy fan, I definitely need to go back and read the first two books in this series so that I can read this in its entirety now that is has been released!

Thanks to the publisher for this early preview! I was lucky enough to be able to access the entire book pre-release from another source, and I found it a close-to-perfect conclusion to an excellent trilogy. I couldn't stop reading, couldn't wait to see what befell these wonderful characters.

I've loved Victoria Aveyard since Red Queen, and can't wait to revisit this series over the years while anticipating new work from her.

After that killer of a cliffhanger in the last book (Victoria Aveyard, I still haven’t forgiven you), the Companions, including Sigil and Dom stayed behind to buy whatever time they could for Corayne, making away with Sorasa and the last Spindleblade. The last hope in the realm.

Not to mention, there’s a dragon loose upon the Ward, obedient to nothing and no one.

This stank of despair and guilt and hopelessness. Aveyard knows how to bait readers and build tension, leaving you in the dark so that you bite your knuckles and want to rush ahead to know what happens.

I cannot wait to read the epic conclusion that this sampler robbed me of. Grrr.

“You can't die with glory if there's no one left to remember your name."

Thank you to Orion for providing an arc sampler in exchange for a review!
