Dark, creepy and sinister, Laura Vaughan’s Hazard Night is a nail-biting thriller that will keep you reading all through the night.

When Eve’s husband is made housemaster at his old boarding school Cleeve College, she has to leave her life in London behind in order to join him. However, abandoning her old life and losing her identity and autonomy quickly begins to take its toll on Eve and her marriage. Isolated from everyone she knows and everything that was familiar to her, the arrival of Fen, wife of the Classics teacher, is a welcome distraction for Eve. But is the enigmatic artist everything she seems?

Fen is a rule-breaker who doesn’t conform to the strictures of Cleeve College and she compels Eve to enter into a dangerous game of risky dares that quickly threaten the rigid equilibrium of the school. However, the day after Hazard Night, a tradition that allows students to run wild for one day, a body is found. Everyone at Cleeve College has got something to hide. But which one of them is a murderer? And will they end up getting away with committing a heinous crime?

Laura Vaughan exposes the dark undercurrents of academia in this complex, layered and addictive chiller, Hazard Night. A deftly constructed thriller full of twists and turns that are impossible to predict, this exciting tale of dark secrets and dangerous deceptions will keep you absorbed and guessing until the final page.

Thanks to Atlantic Books for my copy kf Hazard Night.

This reads like a Young Adult book or teenage fiction.
Eve's husband starts a new job at Celvve boarding school a school in thw middle of nowhere basically. I liked that we got to pov Alice and Eve throughout the book though slow to the build up of the Hazard Night. I didn't feel like I got any of the story until I has 75 % the way through the book.

3/5
