This is a great series for making history fun. If your little one is slightly too young to fully appreciate Horrible Histories then this series might be just what you are looking for. Sunil and Alex head off in Alex's time machine and find themselves in civil wars and witch trails so we learn more fun facts about the lesser known parts of the history of these times.

This is an adventure about time travel. There was some quirky humour that I liked, including some of the banter between Alex from the future, current Alex, and Sunil, as well as the character of Wiki (not so much his obnoxious owner!)

I also like the fact that this is a good way to introduce children to some lesser known characters and aspects of history, such as the Queen who cooperated with the Romans. And of course a few off-putting facts, such as what goes into making woad, and whether or not you would want to put that on your skin!

I really wanted to like this book, but somehow it just didn't work that well for me. I give it 2.5 stars. But I am sure there are kids in the target group who will love this series.
