I really enjoyed this book about a man who woke up every day after a dramatic accident when he fell into a river after Being attacked, A different place in his own personal timeline.

Each day brings a New Year, or a new event, and he has to piece together the parts of his life to understand what is going on, what has happened in his past, and work to a better future.

Thanks to #NetGalley For the opportunity to read this book ahead of publication and exchange for an honest review.

Time travel is really not my thing so I’m delighted to report that this book was a huge exception to the rule. I loved Alex most of the time, despaired of Alex lots of the time and cried with Alex some of the time. No way to describe the plot without spoilers so my lips are sealed but please if you’re looking at this review to decide whether or not you fancy it well give it a go.

Alex Dean is living the dream. Out on a date with a great girl and just been accepted to Cambridge, but when he wakes up the morning after, everything seems very different, as it turns out he has woken up years into the future and whatever happened that night set in motion a series of events that changed the trajectory of his life completely. Each day he wakes up in a different year of his life, but with no pattern to 'when' he is going to wake up, Alex has to focus on the small actions that will cause the biggest ripples to hopefully get his life back.

Well, time travel stories are some of my favourite ones, and this one was brilliant. I have been pootling along so far this year reading mainly 'good' books (imo) with a few standouts, but this one really hit the spot. I got totally invested in Alex's story, a reasonably normal, believable tale (apart from the time travel!) about a young guy with the world at his feet and how the decisions made and actions taken in a moment can have a lingering effect throughout your life. And, who hasn't thought back to decisions you made and wish you could go back and change them? How different would your life had been?

An emotional, reflective book that I highly recommend if you are in the mood for a unique take on a redemption/love story!

I really loved this. I felt like the premise was new and fresh and I like how it was exploited to tackle such complex issues. Well worth a read

What a fantastic book! I thoroughly enjoyed reading The Day Tripper and read it in one sitting. I love time jumping/travel books and this one was great. The premise allowed Alex to see the low and high points of his life and make changes both bad and good that affected his life and that of those around him. I was crying at the end of the book, always a sign I've enjoyed it. I'll certainly watch out for other books by this author.

This was a very exciting read! The concept of time travel has been done in many books but the uncertainty explored here adds more unpredictability and excitement.

I absolutely loved this book! This type of story is probably one of my favourite and this one is now firmly one of my favourites. This book is so much more than a time traveling love story, it is a story about second chances, and taking back control of your life. It is about being kind to yourself and accepting who you are, and being kind to others. This story feels very real and honest as we travel around the last 4 decades with Alex, as he tries to come to terms with how his life is. I like the philosophical conversations about why his life is the way it is, as they get you thinking those big ‘what if?’ questions. And just maybe the reason this book stole an extra piece of my heart is because Alex, the leading character, is the same age as me so the backdrop to his life is the backdrop to mine, including Nirvana and BMX bikes.
