Thank you NetGalley and Troubador for the copy. The opinion is my own.

It's hard to evaluate this book as on one hand it's not what I expected and on the other it's exactly what is promised. I decided on a 3.5 (averaged up to 4) but I'm still wavering on it and 3 stars.
See, it is exactly as advertised and extremely well organized by giving a topic in healthcare like, for example, Patient Experience, describe what is necessary for a good Patient Experience and why and then followed by what AI could do to help said experience get better. Then there is a Summary at the end of all chapters as a way to, well, summarize.
My problem in this book is that I had expected a narrative book and this is basically bullet points for each section. In a way it reminds me of a book full of Review papers or a bunch of simple essays ahah It does talk about the basis of AI and contextualizes everything, good even if the reader know nothing of AI.
As it is, it's a dry read so I would recommend it for people that are curious or are in healthcare with the caveat to not expect any flourishes or any stories. This is pure information.

I suppose I shouldn't be surprised, but it seems like an AI wrote this book.
It's quite robotic in its structure and style.
It's repetitive.
It's not engaging or human.

The good news is that that there are some practical bits on how AI will impact each medical specialty.

However, it's a dull read.
And whatever is gleaned from it could be found via a bit of online research.

Thank you, NetGalley and Troubador for sharing this book. I have been very interested in the role of artificial intelligence in healthcare as I have been a nurse for over 20 years so I have seen many changes in how patient care has changed for the better and possibly, for the worse over the years. This book is very concise, very informative and yet very easy to understand in the many ways artificial intelligence can and already is changing healthcare for the better. The author does give barriers to AI such as the money to install these technologies or devices or possible biases in programming. I had a very basic knowledge of AI prior to reading this book. I now feel I have a better understanding in all the ways AI is already being used to improve patient outcomes and how much further we can go. We just need to make sure we are using patient data with consent and for the right purposes, unbiased and research-based.
