Justin has a curse, and thanks to a reddit thread everyone now knows. Every woman he dates goes on to find their soulmate once they break up. Emma also has the same curse. When she slides into his DMs, they decide to meet to see if they can cancel out the curse and find their own soulmates. It's supposed to be a quick summer fling, four dates, a kiss, and a breakup. But when Emma's toxic mother shows up and Justin has to take custody of his three younger siblings their suddenly dealing with so much more together. Including catching real feelings. What if their curse has actually brought them together?

This was amazing. I absolutely loved this. I loved watching Emma and Justin slowly fall for each other and seeing how they navigated everything that was thrown at them. I loved the found family aspect and how Emma managed to deal with her trauma in order to start letting people in who actually loved her. I loved this.

This is definitely going to be a summer hit. I absolutely loved it.

It’s such a unique, fun plot and the writing is fantastic. The story flowed so well and the characters were really well developed. This book had me laughing out loud but also made my heart hurt at times. There is some trigger warnings but the writer wrote the characters trauma so well and my heart really felt for them.

A fantastic read, with heaps of chemistry and one I would definitely recommend!

Anyone who says they don't enjoy Abby Jimenez is a liar.

As always, this book was beautifully written. It was lovely to see old characters from previous books too.

Justin is an absolute dreamboat and Emma is more well-adjusted than you would expect, considering her last trauma.

Despite the fact that I know these things will turn out OK, I was still sobbing my eyes out when things took a turn for the worst.

Abby Jiminez has a knack for writing, not just amazing MCs, but also in writing the side characters in a way that is so engaging that you fall in love with them too.

I think it would be lovely to see the children get their own HEAs in the future.

After enjoying Yours Truly, the second in this series, so much last year, I was eagerly anticipating the newest book from Abby Jimenez, and unfortunately, I think my expectations were just a bit too high. That's not to say that I didn't enjoy Just for the Summer, because I really did, but it just didn't quite match up to how I felt about Yours Truly. I loved how attentive Justin was from the very beginning to Emma - all of the cute forms and the intentional acts behind their dates. I feel like he was given a bit of a rough hand, not only with his family situation but also in how Emma treated him, as a result of her own family issues. It's understandable and realistic, but I didn't love how completely she left his life before creeping back in when it was right for her - I really liked her as a main character but something just didn't feel quite right.

Just for the Summer is a heartfelt and witty romance about two people who share the same so-called curse; everyone they date ends up finding "the one" immediately after their break up.

The book starts with a post from the Reddit thread "Am I the Asshole?" where we get to hear the funny albeit slightly sad story of how Justin keeps ending up as a wedding guest in his ex's weddings since they keep finding their "happy ever after" after having dated Justin. He sees himself equal parts as a good luck charm for these women and as someone maybe not be meant for the grand love story everyone around him seems to be having.

Emma stumbles across this post via her best friend who knows Emma struggles with the same problem and after some light cyberstalking, Emma decides to DM Justin to share her own experience with the "curse". A friendship builds between the two unlucky-in-love's and an idea to date each other springs to life, surely two negatives will cancel out each other? And that's all this is, a team-up to break a curse, nothing more. Right?

Abby Jimenez writes with both heart and soul, balancing the sweet, clever, and flirty with the heavy, serious, and heartbreaking. The story feels realistic and true as the two protagonists along with the entire cast feel well rounded and true. Through dual points of view, we get to see and understand their actions and reactions, their backgrounds and past traumas, as well as their emotional growth and future healing. Jimenez tackles subjects that can be triggering with care and responsibility, I trust her to take me on a journey full of heart-wrenching, heart-warming, and laugh-out-loud moments.

Thank you NetGalley for sharing this amazing book’s ARC with me.

As with every Abby Jimenez book I've ever read, I finished this book having laughed, cried and swooned (not in that order, sometimes all at the same time).

Abby's writing style is one I adore! The humour and banter is so effortless and it's usually paired with some very serious trauma or health issue. This time the focus was on PTSD and attachment.

In Just for the Summer we meet Emma and Justin who both suffer from a curse. The people they date are destined to meet their soulmate after they break up with them. So Emma and Justin decide to try and cancel the curse out by joining forces and dating each other. Along the way they find out they have more in common than they think - Emma's childhood and her relationship with her mother mirror Justin's situation slightly. Although in Emma's case she was abandoned while in Justin's case he's going everything he can to ensure that doesn't happen his family. Everything clicks so well between Emma and Justin until Emma's mother shows up unwanted leaving a storm cloud over the new relationship and throws Emma's world into chaos.

I loved the setting for this book the lake House vibes. It's starts as an online meet cute and we have dual pov throughout which is amazing! There are a lot of Easter Eggs for Abby's other books and characters too.

This book will be the hot read of the summer!

I love Jimenez's writing and this book absolutely didn't disappoint! I find the way Jimenez is able to weave in and touch upon really quite heavy and difficult topics/themes so amazing as you never feel "bogged down" by them or as if they are just added in for no real purpose. I laughed, I cried and I was desperate to keep reading this book. I would absolutely recommend this story to anyone who fancies a heartwarming, emotional, thought provoking read that leaves you feeling like you're having a big hug.

I’ve read all three of the Part Of Your World series, and they’re all so good and not long enough!

I love funny emotional books and Just For The Summer was my most-anticipated read so far this year. The deepest story so far where the characters do the most work on themselves.. And my heart was warmed with that ending.

Trying to figure out who’ll get the next book!

Abby Jimenez has done it again. Just For The Summer was such a fun, adorable and emotional romance that I devoured and absolutely adored. While this can be read as a standalone I do recommend reading the other two books in the Part of Your World series as some characters overlap!

Emma and Justin were the perfect main characters and I quickly found myself loving and wanting to protect them. Both have gone through a lot in their lives and the communication between the two was just on point. They were so honest with each other and the chemistry was just off the charts! Justin was such a great character and I loved how far he would go for his family and Emma.

This book does deal with some darker topics such as PTSD and child neglect but it was done with such care and it absolutely pulls at your heartstrings. It brought me to tears on numerous occasions!

Honestly pick this book up and if you haven't read Part of Your World and Yours Truly then go do that too! Abby is an amazing author whose books are gripping, fun, romantic and just pure perfection! I need to pick up her other series asap!

Thank you so much to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This book is everything!
Just For The Summer is Abby Jimenez’s best work to date.
New all time favourite, and I already know this will be one of my favourite books of 2024 and we’re only four months into the year.
I don’t want to tell you anything about this book you just need to experience it without elaboration and just feel all the feels.
Whether you pick this up now and read it, or save it for late summer, you won’t be disappointed.

If you’re looking for a heart felt, cute, romance, this is the book for you! I hate to admit yet another book has made me cry, but it was inevitable with this book. Abby Jimenez has a beautiful way of tugging on your heart strings with her writing.
Emma is a nurse, who never stays in one place for too long. After connecting with Justin in a Reddit thread where he reveals he is “cursed” in a way where whoever he dates ends up finding their soulmate straight after, she reveals she also has the same issue. They connect and plan to break their curse so she goes to meet him in Minnesota and their whirlwind romance starts there. But is it just to break a curse or could it be more?
Loved it so, so much!

Thanks so much to Piatkus, Abby Jiminez and NetGalley for the eARC. All opinions expressed are my own!

Absolutely incredible, this book was so good, so well written and I cannot recommend this enough.

The premise was so interesting, Emma and Justin’s relationship was so well developed and the heartbreaking backstory with both their mothers was well explored. I loved the way their relationship gradually turned into something more.

I will read anything she writes!

Justin and Emma both think they are cursed - everyone they date goes on to meet their soulmate. Can they change the curse by dating for the summer. Things get complicated and how will they react. I liked how it was told from both points of view.

Abby Jimenez once again fully sucked me in and I finished this book in a day, she is great at both heartwarming romance and heartwrenching storylines.

BEFORE READING:
Some pretty big TW so make sure to check those before reading
Id recommend rereading Part of Your World before reading this

Not the strongest out of all of Jimenez's books, but the baseline is so high that's not saying much

I missed reading a book by Abby Jimenez because even though sometimes she touches heavy topics like dealing with toxic people in life or some sort of anxiety it's easy to read the story the characters try to tell but at the same time having all sorts of feelings for them. I was so happy to see all the other worlds making a presence in the book as well. Loved the friendship of Emma and Maddy and the chemistry between Emma and Justin was almost palpable.
Abby Jimenez is one of those authors that I would definitely read no matter what.

I’ve been wanting to read a book by Abby Jimenez for a while, so I was delighted to have been given the chance to review her latest.

This is not your typical fake dating trope, and it covers some difficult issues such as abandonment, undiagnosed mental health, gaslighting, neglect - so make sure to check this if any of these are triggering.

Justin and Emma meet on a Reddit thread, where they discover that both of them seem to date people who go on to meet their soulmates once they split up. They agree to a series of dates, with the intention of then meeting their own soulmates once the agreement comes to a close. Along the way, they have to navigate their own family-related issues - but will it make or break them?

I absolutely loved this, I think Justin has to be one of my favourite book boyfriends of all time. It was refreshing to read a book where the characters were real people with genuine issues, as this gave depth to the story rather than it focusing purely on the dating aspect. I’ll definitely be reading more from Abby in the future - 4.25 stars! 🌟

*Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.*

I loved this!!! I’ve never read anything by Abbey before but I was kindly given an eARC by NetGalley and Little Brown Book Group.

Emma and Justin are both cursed - everyone they date immediately meets their soulmate after they break up. They decide to date for a summer to try and break the curse. Both of them are instantly head over heels but have a whole lot of baggage to deal with. Justin’s siblings are adorable, and add such a sweet dynamic to the relationship.

Maddy is truly one of the best friends I’ve ever read about and I would love to read a book about her!!

Lots of tears shed throughout this book but I just thought it was beautiful and lots of really tricky things were handled so sensitively. I’m so pleased to discover it’s part of a series and I’ll definitely be going back to read them!!

This was my first book by this popular author and consider me convinced and ready to devour their entire backlog of books. So I may have judged the cover a little and gone in expecting a fun rom-com, but instead was treated to an incredibly emotional, heart felt and warm story that had me shedding a few tears. I liked the whole dating curse thing which reminded me of the movie Good Luck Chuck, but this took it to a whole different level. I felt really invested in the characters and their growth both individually and in their relationship and wanted to see them overcome the obstacles both internal and external. I work in the mental health field and found the portrayal of the female main character to be really well done and accurate. I'd highly recommend this book and am looking forward to reading more.

Just for the summer is Abby Jimenez’s newest novel and it certainly did not disappoint.
I have been eagerly awaiting its release since I read Yours, Truly which I absolutely loved. Abby has a way with pulling at your heartstrings simply through her words which is a profound ability in my opinion. For me, this didn’t top Yours, Truly but it is definitely close.
Emma is a travel nurse. After a traumatising and tumultuous upbringing with her mother being in and out of her life, Emma remains on the move travelling to different states for a few months at a time with her best friend/foster sister Maddy. Justin is a software engineer intent on taking care of his family. The pair cross paths online at first when Justin writes a post on the Reddit thread ‘am I the asshole?’. He claims to be cursed, and that any woman he starts to date goes on to find their soulmate after they break up. Emma contacts him as she experiences the same thing with the men she has dated. As the pair hit it off and get to know one another, Emma decides her next nurse position will be near Justin allowing them to try and cancel out the curse for the both of them.
This book was definitely more than just a romance. It was a tale of trauma acceptance and healing from it, gaining responsibilities, family and friendship. I felt for Emma throughout the book. She was trying her best but revelation after revelation continued setting back her mental health. I did cry by the end but it came full circle by the epilogue. I also loved the fact the book concluded with a Reddit thread from Justin, providing a sneak peek into the happily ever after of the characters.
Once again I loved Abby Jimenez’s new book and it excited me to read whatever she writes next. Thank you so much for the eARC

Justin & Emma both think they are cursed, everybody they date finds the love of their life after them. So when Emma’s best friend sees Justin’s Reddit post about it she encourages Emma to reach out and arrange a date with him hoping to both break their individual curses. The girls end up moving to Minnesota as travelling nurses and Justin & Emma have a strict dating plan. However, could they actually be a perfect match? Or will their messy baggage ruin it all?

This was my first #AbbyJimenez book and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It was an easy read, I was invested in the characters and I really wanted a happy ever after. Honestly, if you like #chicklit I genuinely recommend this books. I’m definitely going to try more by this author too!
