Thanks to NetGalley and Bookoutre for this Advanced Reader’s Copy of The Nowhere Girls by Dana Perry due to be published April 2, 2024.
FBI Agent Nikki Cassidy’s sister was murdered fifteen years ago, and she is in her hometown to talk to her murderer – only he says he didn’t do it. On the anniversary of her death, another girl in the same town is missing and Nikki vows to stay and find out if it is the same killer. Does the killer want Nikki this time?
Nikki, along with her partner Alex Del Vecchio, (and a semi-retired agent, Phil Gerard) has to try to solve not only her sister’s murder, but the murder of another girl killed recently. It’s difficult for Nikki to go back home since she is not in a good relationship with her mother after her sister’s death. She also must try and determine who in her hometown of Huntsdale she can trust, if anyone, including the findings of her former police chief father.
The Nowhere Girls kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time to see “whodunit”!
I loved The Nowhere Girls and can’t wait to read the next one in the series!

Really enjoyed the first book of this new datective series about an FBI agent who has every year on the anniversary returns home to visit the man in prison who was convicted of murdering her sister. He has never told her why but this year he wants to tell her everything and as another girl from her small home town goes missing she is forced to confront some home truths about what really happened and that maybe this case is bigger than her sister and do they have a serial killer at large. This really is a dark twisted tale so I won’t spoil it but it’s an exciting read however word of warning if child abuse and torture are triggering for you maybe avoid this one.

The fact this took me 4 attempts to start shouts loudly. I couldn't get into it at all. I'm glad I finished it as it did get better but still wasnt better than 'okay’, the writing flowed well but overall unremarkable. Wouldn’t recommend this one but I would still try anything else by
this author. Overall three stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️

I’ really enjoyed the first book in this series . The crime was shocking! Getting to know FBI agent Nikki from the murder of her younger sister to the amazing work she doing with the fbi. This killer really is twisted and evil with so many secrets and lies twists and turns it’s a really good thriller which kept me gripped.

First book in a new series. I really wanted to like it. I struggled to get through - the writing was choppy. Short sentences .. jumped around .. there was no flow. The character development was lacking. I felt like my head was spinning trying to keep up - the personality traits just didn't match up with the dialogue or the main character at all.

I really wanted to like it. This is my type of genre. Unfortunately, this one just doesn't cut it.

Thank you #netgalley and #bookouture for the eARC.

This is the first book in this series and a new author for me, but I made an excellent choice in choosing to read it. The characters were well written. The plot moved along at speed with plenty of twists so I had to keep changing my mind over who was murdering people. At times it brought a tear to my eyes, which proves I got invested in the characters. I now want book 2, but I won't look for it now incase it's good and I stay up all night reading!!

The Nowhere Girls is a thriller and suspense novel that definitely had some great plot twists and reveals that I was not quite expecting, and kept me interested throughout. The entire storyline is centered around Nikki Cassidy, an FBI agent who lost her sister to murder years ago and the person in prison now wants to speak to her regarding the murder. While she is there, another girls body is found. The same age as her sister. Could these cases be related? - thats what Nikki is wondering

Though there were lots of twists and turns throughout this book, and I ultimately wanted to keep reading to know what happens, the main character Nikki kind of drove me a little crazy. The way she acted (kind of. like a teenage brat needing to get her way), the way they also portrayed her through other characters eyes. The way she wanted attention and how they portrayed media and going viral with an FBI agent. I just was not a fan. SO much of this story also was just way too far fetched for me. Things would happen and the book would make a simple sentence said by an FBI agent sound like it was so dramatic and like 'OMG' factor, when in reality, these are normal conversations to be had as an FBI agent. Many other things in this book just had me thinking, "umm this would never happen" or "this is so unrealistic". Also how quickly Nikki just automatically assumed so much was connected with her sister's case, and really prioritizing a personal matter over an actual real life case she was helping with? Just a smidge too unrealistic for me.

I also felt that as the story went on, things were so repetitive. Many times things were mentioned over and over like the character was rehashing in her head about this one question she had, or about the clues that she would uncover but would mention them so many times. We know she has these questions, its basically the whole point of the book. I would have loved to see more built into the story about Nikki working through said questions and clues and the investigation itself. Also there was a major lack of character development here. I think so much more could have been said about Nikki, her partner, as well as a few other characters in the story. I also hated the dynamic with her current relationship status and how she felt. Something was missing there for me and really irked me with that. I think so much more could have been written in the story regarding that.

All in all, this book was just "ok". It was a quick read and the ending was something I did not expect at all and I appreciated that twist.

Nikki Cassidy, FBI Agent, is savoring media attention after she's shown all over the news apprehend a criminal. Unfortunately, this falls at the same time of year of the anniversary of her sister's murder. For the past 12 years, she's traveled there and he has refused to speak to her. This year, it's different. He doesn't answer her question of "why", but alludes to the fact that there's more going on than she realizes. To add to this, a young girl, Natalie Jarvis, is reported missing from a movie theatre - very similar to Nikki's sister's disappearance and murder. Nikki calls her partner, Alex, and she travels to Ohio to help Nikki unravel these cases and hopefully find Natalie in time. This is the first of a three part series. I'm very excited to read the next two! Thank you to Bookouture for an advanced reader of this book - the opinions expressed are my own.

This is the first book in the Nikki Cassidy series and WOW! Loved it! Nikki goes back to her hometown to find out what actually happened when her sister Caitlin was murdered . Why was she murdered? Nikki uncovers with the help of partner Alex a very sinister group that is still killing young girls. Something very dark is going on in her hometown and Nikki will not stop till she finds out. This is a very thrilling pager turner and I look forward to reading the next in the series. Don't miss out on this first book in this series!!!

This is the first book in a new thrilling series featuring FBI Agent Nikki Cassidy .

Every year on the anniversary of her sister's murder she travels to the prison holding the man convicted of killing her ........ he has never spoken to her despite her pleas , except this year he wants to speak to her ! After all these years he now says that whilst he was involved
in her death , he was not the killer ............. just what is his motive ? was someone else involved ?

When a young girl is found murdered in her old hometown , placed in the same spot where her sister found , with roses placed on her head - is this a copycat or is there something more sinister going on ? Is there more to her sister's death than she already knows ?
She is determined to discover the secrets held within her hometown , secrets that someone will do anything to keep just that - secret !
More deaths occur , the murderer taunting Nikki , is the murderer closer than she realises ?

This is a fast paced thriller , full of twists and turns around every corner - overall an enjoyable read
However reading a good book often means reality may be suspended - the thought that an FBI agent would receive so much media attention, being able to posit who the murderer is without any proof and treat the local Police Chief with such disdain was perhaps a touch too much

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own

Agent Nikki Cassidy makes her annual trip to see the killer of her sister, to get answers. The man is dying and says that he did not kill her sister, but there is a group called The Nowhere Men that are responsible.
While she is in her hometown, another young girl is found dead and posed. She has to solve this case to get answers.

I enjoyed this FBI/police procedural, I just did not like the ending of it. I do understand that this is the beginning of a new series, and I feel that some of the characters can be more developed.
Like Alex, who is Nikki's partner.

It is a taut thriller, but left me wanting more. More answers and the theme of the Nowhere Men could possibly overlap into future books. I hope that Nikki finally gets her complete closure regarding her sister's death. I am looking forward to reading the next book in the series.

Thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for the opportunity to read this book.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for my cope of this book.

15 years ago FBI agent Nikki Cassidy’s sister was abducted and days later found murdered. The killer contacts Nikki and claims not to have done it, although he was involved. When another young girl goes missing Nikki investigated and is surprised with the links to her sister’s death.

This was amazing! Really believable characters. Fast paced with lots of clues dispersed throughout. So many red herrings too. I really enjoyed the read and I’m excited to read the next one. Nikki is a great heroine!

I thought this was going to be a new crime series that I could get into, but sadly no. The plot wasn’t bad and neither were the characters. However, this was so repetitive that 50/60% into this I was getting annoyed by it. I would try to read the next book to see if it’s better. Hopefully, if it’s not repetitive like this one, it should be decent. It’s not that the writing was terrible, so a second chance seems feasible.

When a young girl disappears, I cannot imagine the agony the parents must go through. The hours they have to wait, hoping and praying the news will be good. And sometimes, there is good news and the family is reunited. Sometimes though they never find the missing person and there never will be closure. Sometimes the body is found and this means the end of the long wait and the feelings of hope change into those of sadness and loss.

Killers are found, but there are often not found either, allowing them to keep on playing their sick games.

Sometimes putting the killer behind bars is not enough and the family wants some answers to the why.

Nikki is still trying to get those answers from the man who killed her sister. After 15 long years he drops a bomb shell and Nikki is determined to get to the bottom of it all. It seems like she has stirred the nornet's nest...

I liked Nikki. She goes after what she wants even if she has to color out of the box. She is like a dog with a bone and wiating is not one of her strong points. When she sniffs a lead, she will follow her nose no matter where it takes her.

The author has written a splendid start to a new series I am looking forward to devour as soon as possible. Books two and three are already waiting for me and I won't leave them hanging for too long.

5 stars for this story that made me trust the wrong person as per usual and that can only mean kudos to the author for creating this great book and for leading me down the wrong path. :)

Thank you

On the anniversary of her sister’s death, FBI agent Nikki Cassidy takes a call that has her heart pounding in her chest, the image of her beautiful sister Caitlin etched in her mind. Another girl has been taken. Days later, the lifeless body of twelve-year-old Natalie Jarvis is found in a remote patch of woodland, a crown of roses delicately placed on her head. Just like Caitlin.
The killer is back.Nikki rushes to her small hometown of Groveton, Ohio. She will do anything to stop another young girl dying, but she soon realises that nothing is what it seems—everyone in her hometown is keeping a secret. And when a note is discovered near Natalie’s body addressed to Nikki, it’s clear what the murderer really wants: her…
Loved this one. This is a new author to me.
