He’s the best mistake she ever made…

Back in Rose Bend after a work trip that went wrong, Florence “Flo” Dennison craves the kind of distraction only a searing fling with a gorgeous stranger can provide. And she gets it—in an encounter hot enough to leave scars. But satisfaction turns to shock when Flo realizes her one-night stand is leading the restoration project she’s been hired to photograph. And his sweet little girl has decided Flo’s her new bestie…Single dad and architect Adam Reed wants stability for his daughter, and he’s sure that Flo—young, ambitious, beautiful—isn’t looking for that. But when his nanny bails and Flo helps him out, it becomes impossible to keep their distance. Now, navigating tangled family ties and her own trust issues, Flo has to decide if one wild night can become so much more.

Bonus novella!

Brooklyn Hayes just woke up in Vegas married to her best friend, who also happens to be her sister's ex. Will they make it through a trip back home without spilling their secret…or falling in love?

My Opinion

Rose Bend is a place that is easy to dip and out of - I have read some of the previous books in this series but not them all, nevertheless it was easy to read this as a standalone. The Single Dad Project has been cleverly crafted and whilst there is a romance, this is definitely not the main focus of the book. A sweet but steamy read.

Rating 4/5

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the early copy of this book!

This was an interesting take on the romance genre for me. I'm not a big reader of romance, but this story still felt fresh. I liked the relationship between the characters. The narration was fantastic, 10/10. I need a movie made of this romcom please.

4.5 stars. This book had me kicking my feet and giggling while walking 😂 its such a beautiful book and I really enjoyed it. I took a lot of lessons from it and will be back for another listen because it’s a beautiful take on love. I appreciated bow he let her fully be herself and encouraged it, and the dynamics were so solid. Definitely would read more by this author.
My only qualms are that I would like a split between the book and the end novella as that was confusing, and the overuse of queen gave me the ick.
Overall, a beautiful book and message. Thank you for allowing me to read and review it and I will definitely

Book started off well but was a long read in an unusual way. Discussed some great topics about family life which was very well done. But just dragged at the end for me. Would make a good tv series or hallmark Xmas movie!

I enjoyed this book but it was quite hard going in places. Liked the narration and would listen to more by this author.

Book Description from Amazon

The Narrator did such a good job keeping the story flowing. This was my first time reading the Rose Bend Series. I have not read the other 4 but after listening to The Single Dad Project I’m curious to read the others. The story had just enough steamy parts, had some really good gems of advice that we all can learn from about healing and facing fears. It was also really great reading about a book from the single dad perspective and dating. I would absolutely recommend.

Thank you to HarperCollins UK Audio and Naima Simone for the opportunity to listen and review The Single Dad Project.

This wasn't for me and the writing did not resonate with me. I won't go into detail because i disliked the book for personal reasons that may not apply to other readers.

Thank you Netgalley for the arc in exchange for an honest review.

Sooo this a cute small town romance with some spice. I read this without the knowledge of the other books in the series this being number 5.
That being said it can be read as a stand alone however the vast amount of characters makes it a little more difficult. Because it’s being told Asif we should already know who these people are.

I didn’t find that there was a huge amount of chemistry between Flo and Adam I don’t know if it is just me. If so sorry.
I also felt the ending was rushed and could of had a little more to it.

I gave this a 3 star as it was ok maybe I didn’t enjoy it as much as other because it isn’t want I would normally read.
But was an easy read and was cosy

I enjoyed this spin on the familiar storyline: guy visits quaint/cute small town, USA and meets a girl. I really appreciated that variety of characters as well as the inclusion of broken family dynamics to bring more depth than typical to the genre. The way in which these characters processed their past and addressed their pain even made me pause to take note.

I found it challenging to connect to the characters, however, as their relationships and strong bonds between them seemed to have been built mainly “off book.” There’s definitely passion and lust in the steamy scenes but the novel reads as if they fell in love in moments between the scenes on the actual pages—making their love feel distant.

The Single Dad Project features "Flo" as she returns from her photography trip abroad and is looking to blow off some steam and Adam, a single dad who's just in town for his job. When the two run into each other at the local bar and instantly find the other attractive, they decide what's there to loose? They'll never see each other again and it's sure to be a good night.
Until, they both show up to work to their new projects only to find they're both stationed at the same house renovation as lead architect and photographer. Through working together the pair fight off their attraction and steamy memories from the night before working to stay professional and not catch feelings, even if Flo and Adam's daughter get to bond over braiding hair, and photography.
With heavy topics of parental death, abandonment, and sexual assault this book covers some heavy stories while being countered by endless hope and coping from the main characters.
I really enjoyed this story, the spice was SPICY, and the characters seemed to each have a lot going for them. I wish I got to see Flo and Adam together more, especially as their relationship grew, a lot of their scenes were interrupted by Adam's ex-wife or daughter which hindered their chemistry for me. The ending also just seemed rushed for me compared to the rest of the book.
This is the first Rose Bend novel I've read and I really enjoyed it! Will for sure be looking into the other books in the series!

So, you know my view on reading series' in order - well, I've done it again and grabbed this one, which is book 5. Yes! Book 5!! In the Rose Bend Series....
But I have to say that I absolutely loved this!!

Being a small town series (rather than specific character) I'm assuming that the other books will have the same setting and that some of the characters will be recurring - but the overall story here, focussed on Flo and Adam and their blossoming relationship.

What starts out as an anonymous one night stand - quickly turns into more - when Flo realises that she will be working with Adam on her new photography job whilst he overseas the renovation of the old house in Rose Bend.

I absolutely fell for this couple - and Adam's daughter Justine.
I mean, ok, Adam could be a little tetchy but these guys both have baggage and past trauma - but nobody can deny that the chemistry is there!

Flo was just a beautiful character - even with the traumas of her childhood or early upbringing - she still manages to be the most beautiful person, inside and out.
(on that note) I loved how the relationship with her "father" developed and also the way this all impacted on the way she reacted to and helped to heal Adam's trauma and worries and also his previous relationship with Jussie's mum.

This all sounds pretty heavy - but in actually fact, this was a really great, light and heartwarming read with some humour, lots of emotion, fun and frivolity ....yep, a fair amount of spice thrown on top too!

The Rose Bend community introduced me to a beautiful small town setting and I loved seeing the extended family members and other places around town.
I was totally immersed in this close community and can honestly say that I will be returning to catch up on the previous books in this series ....along with looking forward to more....

** this audio book also included a bonus story (book 5.5 / book 6?) at the end of the recording.

This was again based in Rose Bend, but we met a new couple - Brooklyn and Patrick - who find themselves in a spot of bother after a drunken work night out in Vegas!!
Yep, you guessed it, they ended up married!

Although based in the same small town, Brooklyn and her family were new to me (having only read book 5 so far) and it was great to get to know Brooklyn and see the family dynamics between her and her sister and parents.

I actually felt quite sorry for Brooklyn as she was an amazing business woman, who had created and built her own business and done really well for herself, but was still left lacking that pride and approval of her family - she still felt inadequate!

Patrick, however, was there to help her through and to build her up.

This was a super short novella and a super quick read, but it still contained a great story around the couple.
I didn't feel that this was rushed or that I was missing out on anything.

I loved the resulting feel-good vibe that this left me with and I'm really looking forward to catching up with the rose Bend series and watching out for more to come.....

This was a sweet enough romance with a side helping of spice. Two characters with baggage, and an age gap, looking for different things in their life and finding that maybe they can build something together after all. There's a fun but confusingly large cast of characters, all from earlier books in the series of standalones which, full disclosure, I haven't read, so I didn't find it tricky to keep track of who everyone was and how they were related to Flo. Adam's daughter is incredibly sweet and I enjoyed the relationship Flo built with her.

I have to say I felt like Flo's family were not treating her the way I'd expect in her circumstances. I don't want to give anything away but they're just throwing her head first into situations without warning and putting a lot of pressure on her and it's sad she didn't feel at home with her family at times because of these situations.

There wasn't much chemistry between Adam and Flo and I had to fast forward through the spicy scenes because they didn't hit right for me. The way Flo and Adam were blowing hot and cold was also super frustrating. Don't even get me started on Adam's dismissive and condescending behaviour. It made it really hard to root for him when I didn't feel like he had any respect for Flo. However, the small town vibe was cute and other than specific points in the book, the family set up was really nice.

Ok so, honesty first. I would never in a million years opt for this book to buy. But I’m forcing myself to try to opt for books that I’d never normally choose, to try something different, and so here I find myself having just finished The Single Dad Project and I didn’t hate it! Infact I really enjoyed it.

Cute funny and poignant with some serious messages. In was a bonk buster for sure but the story surrounding it was poignant, wholesome and sweet, that’s where my thought process was skewed, I’ve never married the two before now. Unfortunately it’s the 5th in a series and I haven’t read any of the others. However that made absolutely no difference for me. It easily worked as a standalone, infact it wasn’t until I came to write the review that I realised it’s part of a series.
Loved the audio narration too.
4stars 🌟

Ps. There’s a lovely novella at the end. Bonus!
