A whodunnit involving three women who all have connections to a man who is found dead on his luxury yacht.

Feels a bit Thelma and Louise/Murder on the Orient Express. I did keep changing my mind who the killer was and was a little on the right track with the ending!

All in all an enjoyable read.

I was so excited to receive this digital advanced copy as I am a huge Rachel Abbot fan and have read all her books. Whilst I did enjoy this book it isn’t one of my favourites by her.

This book fell a little flat for me. I realised pretty early on it would have a similar ending to one Rachel’s first books. What I didn’t realise was how this would need to be executed. I won’t say too much more as I don’t want to give anything away and spoil this for other readers. The chapters are a good length and I found myself racing through the pages. I did find some parts a little boring and I was eager to see how it would all be pulled together. For me the ending didn’t work, it felt a little too odd and I think if I’m honest I would have preferred it to have happened very differently.

Ellis Cobain, a self acclaimed philanthropist is found murdered on his yacht while holidaying with his wife. Also at the same luxurious hotel is his current and former mistress. DC Stephanie King had also been enjoying a mini break with her mum days before the murder. Had she seen anything that could help solve the murder? To be sure her boyfriend and DCI Gus Brodie calls her to come in and help solve this murder. Nothing is making any sense and the prime suspects all have alibi’s. Just what happened on that yacht?

The Stephanie King series have never been a favourite but after the last one I had high hopes for this too. If you are a fan of Rachel Abbot and either of her 2 series, then I am sure you will enjoy this book like I did, but don’t expect it to become the your most favourite.

I am a massive fan of Rachel Abbott’s books so couldn’t wait to read this arc copy. It was a fantastic thriller that had me hooked from the first page. Plenty of suspense and intrigue and i was totally surprised at the ending. A book not to be missed, I highly recommend.

As a die hard fan of Mrs Abbott's work, I had a hard time getting in this last novel. I couldn't really sympathize with either of the three ladies and the plot lacked depth in my opinion, I was sorry we didn't get more of Steph and Gus in this one. I have previously really enjoyed Rachel Abbott books and this did not disappoint.
Stephanie enjoys a weekend break with her mum and a few days later is back investigating a murder at the same hotel. Recognising the victim and suspects from her stay, she tries to piece it all together and find out what happened, all while carrying a secret of her own.
Didn't want to put this down. A great read .

Several women had good reason to hate Ellis Cobain, but who really killed him on his yacht? A brilliant thriller that keeps you guessing and great how it all comes together. The ending was absolutely shocking! Another fantastic entry to the series.

I enjoyed this book and Rachel Abbott is one of my favourite authors. Intriguing, but challenging ending.

I have read all of Rachel abbotts books so couldn't wait to start this. It's not my favourite by her but still a very good read. I had no idea who did it right up to the reveal so it kept me guessing. But that ending!!! In one way I was gobsmacked in another I was thinking why why why??? Devoured this in a day. Thank you

This is Rachel Abbott at her best. Reminiscent of a modern day Agatha Christie, I liked the slow build up of suspense and then the discovery of a body. I found it thoroughly gripping and enjoyable with a sad surprising ending. Definitely one not to be missed.

i am a huge fan of Rachel Abbott and have read all of her novels. She is one of those writers I can't wait to read. I was not disappointed as this was another stormingly good read.

Ellis Cobain is a wealthy philanthropist on his way to a knighthood (or so he thinks). He has a wife, a former mistress and a current mistress: Celia, Nadia and Juliette. At a prestigious retreat in Cornwall they are all there for a week long holiday.

Detective Sergeant Stephanie King is also at the retreat for the weekend with her mother. A murder brings her back a few days after she has left, along with her boss and boyfriend, Gus, in search of the killer. It could have been anyone as everybody seems to hate the victim.

Amazing read and highly recommended.

Echoes of ‘Murder on the Orient Express’ in this tale of the death of a seriously unpleasant womaniser at a luxury coastal hotel. Three women who had all suffered at his hands, meet at the hotel and, form an alliance to extract their revenge, but who has overstepped the mark and murdered him? This intriguing question ensures that ‘The Last Time I Saw Him’ gets off to a strong start. Rachel Abbott is very good at developing feisty female characters and, including lead detective Stephanie King, there are four on show here. My only complaint is with the interminable sequence of police interviews with the three female suspects in the middle section of the book which cause a loss of momentum and narrative drive. However, the unexpectedly dramatic ending puts the novel back on track and leaves the reader keen to know where Stephanie King will go from here.

A pulse-pounding, absolutely gripping and totally addictive page-turner that will have you racing through the pages and reeling at the twists
Hold on to your hat and don't kid yourself that you'll be doing anything other than reading on the day that you start this one.

I usually like to write a review as soon as I finish a book but I had to take the time to pick my jaw up off the floor after this one. This is a really great story about the murder of a narcissistic, swine of a man and the three women who simultaneously love and hate him. The plot was clever and detailed but managed not to become too convoluted. As always the author lets us really get to know the detectives working the case by adding little snippets of their personal lives but not so much that it overtakes the main plot. I changed my mind from chapter to chapter as to who the actual murderer was but the ending left me staggered. I was not expecting that at all. Can't wait for the next book from this brilliant author.

This book is the latest in the Stephanie King series. Celia, Julia and Nadine don't know one another but all three have or had a relationship with Ellis Cobain. The story takes place in a hotel on the Cornish coast where the three get to know one another because of their relationship with Ellis and because of the way he treated them they all decide he needs to pay. I couldn't believe the ending and had to read it twice, Rachel you had me in tears. Rachel Abbott is one of my favourite authors and she sure did shock me with this ending.

Amazing - the way this book was woven together was just brilliant

The villain of the story was horrible and had made some of the women's lives miserable, how far

I enjoyed this latest instalment in the Stephanie King series. We follow Stephanie and Gus on a murder investigation that strikes close to home. As the book progresses, the events get weirder and we are never too sure who committed the crime. Towards the end of the book I did think the pace began to droop and I started to lose interest, however Abbott saved it with a shocking ending.
With any series I enjoy catching up with previous characters and with this book, I liked seeing the development in the relationship between Stephanie and Gus. My one criticism would be they were not in this enough. The other characters, in particular Celia, Juliette and Nadia are very strong and carry the story exceptionally. They are fragile and yet powerful and I enjoyed reading their different stories.
This was a thrilling read with a shocking ending and wonderful characters.

Rachel is one of my favourite authors so I was really pleased to get this. It’s wasn’t stand out, but it was good. She writes with style and her characters and well written and 3 dimensional. I enjoyed it overall.
