This is my first read from Georgina Troy and I really enjoyed the setting of Jersey and Hollyhock Farm. It has likeable characters and I can't wait to see how this series develops.
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the advance copy of this one

As a fan of Georgina Troy's previous books, I was looking forward to this one. Again, set on the beautiful island of Jersey but this time on a Farm.

Lettie returns home after a setback in her career, but unfortunately receives double whammy news from her parents. Lettie can't bear to see the farm being sold, so she persuades her dad to let her take it on for a trial period.

She certainly works hard, and I think I went through a range of emotions with her as we see her battle to keep going. She is helped by 2 rather lovely men, the local vet Brodie and firefighter Joe, who are both keen on her. This adds a lovely small town, slow burn romance to the story.

It is a dual POV story that I enjoy, full of quirky and interesting characters, not to mention animals especially Spud and Thistle. A very enjoyable read.

Thank you Boldwood Books and Rachel's Random Resources for my gifted ARC and spot on the tour. I am leaving this honest review voluntarily.

This is a slow burn second chance romance and I did eventually enjoy it but it took a little while to get in to. The relationship that bloomed between Brodie and Lettie was eventually very sweet but it just took a while to get there and was a little disconnected at the beginning - I didn’t feel the connection between them until much closer to the end of the book.

It’s a lighthearted read and there are many characters with lots of potential.

Welcome to Hollyhock Farm marks the beginning of a fresh series by Georgina Troy.

Lettie returns to her childhood farm on the picturesque island of Jersey, only to discover her brother there as well. Their parents have decided to sell the farm. Lettie is devastated and persuades her father to give her three months to demonstrate her ability to manage it so they can retire.

I thoroughly enjoyed this initial book; the characters are incredibly relatable – even one of vet Brodie’s patients shares the same name as my first cat, Smudge, when I left home! Eagerly anticipating the next installment!

If you are looking for a light romance read with a stunning setting – look no further.

Lettie, in her mid-twenties, has recently been made redundant from her job in London’s fashion industry. When she is summoned home to the Island of Jersey, she discovers that her father has been having health problems and is determined to get rid of the farm that he worked on for decades. Lettie, aghast at this news, says that she wants to take over the farm. Her father and her uncle are hesitant because Lettie has no real experience despite growing up on Hollyhock Farm. In addition to the acres of organic produce, the farm has cows, chickens, goats, and alpacas. Quite an undertaking!AI rendering of how I imagined Hollyhock Farm would appear

Oh, and speaking of livestock… there is a young and handsome vet in town. Lettie remembers him as a teen crush, yet he doesn’t seem to remember her at all…

The reader follows Lettie as she strives to prove herself to her father that she can, in fact, hold her own on the farm and keep it ticking over successfully. Meanwhile, she is quite distracted by Brodie, the vet.

As is usual with romance fiction, Lettie and Brodie’s relationship is fraught with many misunderstandings, miscommunication and adversity. Factor in other people who want to date them… oh, and also a stray dog called ‘Thistle’.

“Welcome to Hollyhock Farm” is an enjoyable, escapist read that is sure to be appreciated by fans of romance fiction. It is the first in a prospective series, so more visits to Jersey…

3.5 stars rounded up

An ideal summer read, especially if you like animals and the countryside and what a lovely setting on the island if Jersey. This is my first read by Georgina Troy and I'm really hoping that we are able to return to Hollyhock farm.

There's no better feeling than going back to your family home is there? I've no idea how I'd react if they told me it was being sold though, it holds so many memories.

I'm ashamed to say I've only read two of Troy's books, but as the Hollyhock Farm series has kicked off with such a promising start, I'm already excited for book two.

Jersey was the perfect setting for the story, it sounds idyllic with its green fields, golden sands and sunshine. Hollyhocks are bright, vivacious flowers, so I visualised the farm being like this after Letitia breathed new life into it.

There's a great sense of community spirit, so I'm hoping throughout the series there are going to be recurring visits from characters, all of whom so far have been wonderful.

An absolute delight to read. Pure escapism.

BLOG TOUR REVIEW

Review for 'Welcome To Hollyhock Farm' by Georgina Troy.

Read and reviewed via NetGalley for Georgina Troy, Book And Tonic, the Bold Book Club, Boldwood Books and Rachel's Random resources Tours.

Publication date 24th April 2024.

This is the third book I have read by this author and is the first book in her 'Hollyhock Farm' series!! I have previously read 'Snow Angels At Golden Sands Bay' that is the fifth book in the 'Golden Sands Bay' series and 'New Beginnings By The Sunflower Cliff' which is the first book in her 'Sunflower Cliffs' series. All of these books can be read as standalones and I would highly recommend them all!

This novel consists of 48 chapters. The chapters are short to medium in length so easy to read 'just one more chapter' before bed...OK, I know yeah right, but still just in case!

This book is beautifully written and completely absorbs you in the stunning atmosphere of Jersey and really sucks you in with the vivid descriptions leaving you feel the snowdrops and smell of the sea. The synopsis and cover suits the storyline perfectly.

Yet another absolutely gorgeous book by the very talented Georgina Troy but to be fair I have come to expect nothing else from this fantastic author! I absolutely loved this gorgeous book and cannot wait to get stuck in to the future books in this series as well as the rest of Georgina's gorgeous books in her other book series'!!! Honestly if you are ever in need of a break and fancy the gorgeous Jersey then grab this stunner and prepare to be whisked away on a beautiful holiday!!! In this gorgeous book we meet Lettie who lives in London. However, after her relationship ends and she gets a call from her parents for her to come back to Hollyhock Farm she heads to Jersey. However, her parents haven't invited her and her brother Zac home to give them good news but to tell them they will be selling the farm to their uncle due to their fathers health following a heart attack. Lettie is heartbroken but is determined to do something about it! After a stressful like in the bustling city and the high fashion life she leads Lettie volunteers to take on the job of running the farm herself. Her Dad gives her 3 months to prove that she can do it and Lottie is determined to prove that she can!! Things get even more complicated when she discovers the village vet has retired and her old flame Brodie has taken over!! If that isn't enough to confuse and complicate matters Lettie also catches the eye of hunky firefighter Joe!!! Will Lettie manage to prove to her Dad that she can take over the farm? Will Brodie and Joe distract her to lose it? Grab your copy of this absolutely gorgeous page turner to discover that for yourself!! This beautiful book is ram packed with friendship, romance, animals, stunning settings, family, determination and so much more what else could you ask for?? I absolutely loved discovering life on a farm and being a huge animal lover, even running a cat rescue called Golden Oldies Cat Rescue And Hospice (which you can discover on social media) a book filled with animals is an absolute dream for me and I was completely sucked in throughout!! The dogs Spunky and Thistle are definitely two of my favourites!! Georgina does an absolutely fantastic job weaving the character perspectives of both Lettie and Brodie together at perfect timings. The fact that she clearly cares about her characters shines through the pages with her vivid and evocative descriptions. The storyline is authentic and realistic as well as easy to read and heart-warming. There was plenty of events and activities going on throughout and it kept me hooked from start to end, I read it in one sitting while wrapped up warm inside with it rains outside at the same time Lettie was toiling on the farm. However, Georgina's fantastic writing skills felt like I was in Jersey instead of the rainy Wales I am actually sitting in. The storyline was filled with a range of emotions and was heart-warming and had love, relationships and friendships all going on in this beautiful atmosphere. It felt like a lovely break away from Wales!! I loved how the story ended and I would love to read more about the life in the gorgeous Island of Jersey. I was absolutely devastated when I came to the end of this book as I was truly whisked away to Jersey looking at the stunning views. I absolutely loved the gorgeous atmosphere and everything about this beautiful book. I am pleased to say this is just the first book in a series and I cannot wait to get stuck into the next one!

An absolutely gorgeous book!! I cannot wait to go on my next adventure with the very talented Georgina. I absolutely adored being in Jersey but I also enjoyed learning and reading about Lettie and meeting new friends who I absolutely adored!!! An unforgettable holiday!!!

It is always worrying when starting a new series as you have no idea who the characters are. It is very important for me to bond with not only the lead protagonists but also any characters that may make repeat appearances during the series too.

The characters were all unique with their own realistic traits, strengths and weaknesses. I was completely invested in Lettie from the moment I met her and was rooting for her throughout the book. I also loved meeting her family, Brodie, Joe along with several other characters and all of the amazing animals!! I just cannot wait to meet them all again in the next book in this promising series!!! It was intriguing to watch friendships and relationships grow, develop and change throughout the the storyline. Georgina's amazing evocative writing skills brought all the characters and community to life as much as possible and they all leapt out of the pages as well as the stunning atmosphere!!! Anyway, I best not say anymore as don't want to give anything else away for future readers!! It's just so easy talking about this fantastic book and so much I want to tell you all about but I really need to control myself!!! Georgina's evocative descriptions and brilliant character development ensures it feels like you are standing next to Lettie and Brodie feeling the frustration, tension, romance, and more throughout!! Needless to say I absolutely adored the majority of the characters each for a different reason. All characters worked perfectly with the storyline and I would love to meet them again and cannot wait to get stuck into the previous and next books in this series!!!

Well done Georgina on yet another absolutely gorgeous boo and a stunning start to a new series!! I will definitely be looking for your books any time I need to be swept off to another country!!! This is the exact reason that you are on my favourite authors list and here's to your next success 🥂!!

Make sure you read to the very end of the book to read the first chapter of Georgina's 'Finding Love On Sunshine Island' which is the first book in Georgina's 'Sunshine Island' series and promises to be just as addictive as this book and is one I'm definitely looking forward to reading myself!!

Overall an absolutely perfect light hearted, stunning unputdownable page turner that will sweep you off your feet and land you in Jersey.

Welcome to Hollyhock Farm is a wonderful novel set on the island of Jersey. I enjoyed this fresh contemporary romance set on a beautifully described island.

Lettie's return to Jersey is actually two fold - she's called home, along with her brother, but Lettie also has returned to regroup after an unexpected turn of events at her place of employment. When Lettie and Zac learn the reason they are called home, both are in a state of disbelief. Not wanting to lose their family farm or home, Lettie asks to run the farm on a trial basis.

While trying to prove to her family that she can manage the farm, Lettie runs into Brodie, a former romantic interest. I loved watching their relationship grow from misunderstandings to romance. Their romance isn't the only theme in the book, though. Lettie's grit and determination to make the farm her own shows her drive and ambition.

Lettie is a strong character. Brodie is kind and charismatic. Each character throughout the book is multi-dimensional and written well. The descriptions are vivid and I felt like I was in Jersey. I enjoyed the author's writing style and will definitely read more of Georgina's work in the future.

I was provided a copy of this book to read.

Welcome to Hollyhock Farm is a modern romance set on the beautiful island of Jersey. The writing brings out a lot of detail about the characters and the place but without being over descriptive. It was easy to imagine myself wandering around the village, taking walks on the beach, and popping into the pub. Despite this being the first book in the series, there was a very real and comfortable feel to the village and characters. There is a lovely chemistry between Lettie and Brodie, but this isn’t just a romance, it’s also about Lettie’s drive and determination to run the family farm, despite having little experience and originally choosing a completely different career. It’s also about relationships, community, and kindness. Even some of the animals have their own stories, which was so heartwarming. The whole story is uplifting and has a genuine warmth to it. This was my first Georgina Troy read, and I will definitely be back for more. I am excited that this is a series as I want to spend more time on Jersey (even if it is only virtually).

When when I read the synopsis for this, I just thought it sounded so up my street, the idea of escaping London(or any city) and into nature sounds like my idea of heaven. So I had a good inkling that I would enjoy this book, as well as the fact I’ve read Georgina’s books before and always enjoyed them. Michael instinct didn’t let me down and I’m glad to say this is a wonderful read.

I love the characters of Lettie and Brodie, I thought they were a brilliant leading pair, great chemistry, nice tension and lovely relatable characters. I love the detail and attention that clearly Georgina has done her research, I love the focus on the farm work, both physical and financial. I love Brodie and his dog so much, although I’m hoping there will be more books and we get to see more of Joe too, he was a lovely character.

If you’re looking for somewhere scenic to escape, then I definitely recommend Welcome to Hollyhock Farm by Georgina Troy, it had everything I wanted for that perfect weekend, just grab a brew, park yourself and fall into some great writing.

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

It's only fairly recently that I discovered Georgina and her amazing books. One day, I hope to have read everything that she has written to date. I read the synopsis of 'Welcome To Hollyhock Farm' and it certainly sounded like my kind of read. I couldn't wait to dive in and so without further ado, I grabbed my Kindle, grabbed a cup of tea and settled down for a fun afternoon of reading. I thoroughly enjoyed reading 'Welcome To Hollyhock Farm' but more about that in a bit.

Can I just say that 'Welcome To Hollyhock Farm' came along at the right time for me. I was in need of a fun and lighthearted read which would whisk me away from a wet and miserable village in North East England. 'Welcome At Hollyhock Farm' certainly ticked those boxes. I was drawn into this story from the start and I found it nigh on impossible to put the book down for any length of time. My Kindle wasn't exactly glued to my hand but it might as well have been because it travelled everywhere with me. Part of the reason why I enjoyed the story so much has to do with the main characters of Lottie and Brodie, who ended up feeling more friends rather than characters in a book. I had to keep reading to see what happened between the pair of them and whether each character got the 'happy ever after' ending that they both so deserved. I was so wrapped up in the story that I lost all track of time and just how quickly I was getting through the book. All too quickly I reached the end of 'Welcome To Hollyhock Farm' and had to say goodbye to Lettie, Brodie and the rest of the characters. I found 'Welcome To Hollyhock Farm' to be a delight to read from start to finish with lots of life, laughs and love.

'Welcome To Hollyhock Farm' is superbly written but then I have come to expect nothing less from Georgina Troy. Georgina has an easy going writing style that is easy to get used to and easy to get along with. In fact reading one of Georgina's books often feels more like a chat between friends rather than reading a book. I hope that makes sense. Georgina's love for her characters shines through in the very vivid and realistic way in which she describes them. She makes her characters seem just as real as you and I. As I indicated earlier on in my review, I began to consider Lettie and Brodie as friends rather than characters in a book. Georgina describes Jersey so vividly and realistically that if I were to close my eyes, it would be easy to imagine that I was there myself with the sun beating down on my face. I love the way in which Georgina makes the reader feel as though they are part of the story and at the heart of the action. That's how I felt anyway.

In short, I thoroughly enjoyed reading 'Welcome To Hollyhock Farm' and I wholeheartedly recommend it to other readers. I will certainly be reading more of Georgina's work in the future. The score on the Ginger Book Geek board is a very well deserved 5* out of 5*.

What a gorgeous read from Georgina Troy. Lettie’s summer is full of hard work and hope as she tries to get to grips with running the farm while her parents are away.
I loved the relationships in this book - Tina proved to be a valuable friend, and having Joe and Brodie around to help was a nice positive for Lettie. Georgina always writes such great stories full of community and wonderful characters.
Hollyhock Farm sounded a perfect place to live and I loved reading about Lettie’s plans with Spud and Derek too.

After having read multiple other books by the author and enjoying them so much I was excited to start reading a new series.
Hollyhock Farm sounds like such a delightful place. These rom coms can have some quirky characters in them but not in a bad way, a good way. The characters are fun, outgoing and keep you entertained.
We have Lettie and her brother at their parent's farm, Hollyhock Farm in Jersey. The parents need to tell them something, they are selling the farm and retiring. Lettie grew up there and she never expected this to happen. She wanted a career in fashion in London but not quite working out like she wanted it to she's back on the farm and shocked at her parents' announcement, she and her brother both. The farm is in Lettie's blood, she can't just let it go and sets out to prove to her parents on a trial run of three months she is capable of running it herself though she has no idea of the ins and outs of farm work. Now I do like the thought of an organic produce farm with a few animals but it's not something I'd want to do day in and day out.
I give Lettie all the props, she works her tail off basically day into the night running this farm while her parents are on a cruise to prove to them, she's got what it takes. Will it actually be enough to keep the farm in the family and convince her parents it should stay? With two men competing for her attention, the town's new veterinarian and a firefighter, who will she choose? Does she even have time for a romance right now? The book is so heartwarming, the characters are charming and likable, the situation has a bit of tension that has you holding your breath. The book is warm and invites you in to get to know the characters and I'm looking forward to reading more installments in this series and meeting back up with all the animals again.

I was given a complimentary copy of this book.
All opinions expressed are my own.

I enjoyed this lovely story of self-discovery, family, friendship and community set in Jersey. Lettie loves the farm where she grew up and assumes it will always be there when she needs to chill. When her parents tell her that they are selling to enjoy a different pace of life whilst they can, she knows she needs to rethink her future. At a crossroads in her career and love life, she persuades her family to let her run the farm to see if she can make a go of it. The author immersively evokes life on a farm and living in Jersey, and it is an engaging read. It's a steep learning curve for Lettie, but she realises that friendship and community support are invaluable. There is also a rekindling of past romance, even if she seems to be the only one who can remember it. I like the detailed description of farm life and life in Jersey, the relatable characters and relationships and the story's heartwarming ethos.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher.

Lettie and Zac return to Jersey, uncertain about the future, after their parents announce plans to sell their farmland due to their father's health issues. Lettie, facing potential redundancy at work and reeling from a recent breakup, volunteers to take over the farm and gets her father and uncle's approval. She has three months to prove herself, one with her father's guidance and two while he's away. Back on the island, Lettie gains the attention of the local vet and a charming firefighter. While working tirelessly to keep the farm running, she navigates her social life and the potential for romance, with supportive friends and her two dogs, Spunky and Thistle. The story explores Lettie's journey from uncertainty to determination, capturing her personal growth and relationships with endearing secondary characters. The author, Georgina Troy, crafts a realistic and heartwarming tale of perseverance, community, and unexpected love, culminating in a satisfying conclusion at Hollyhock Farm.

Yet another wonderful book by Georgina. With loveable characters and beautiful narratives making it a heart warming spring read. Great setting too, on Jersey.

A big thank you to Rachel at RaRaResources and the publisher for sending me my review copy of the book and for inviting me to take part on the blog tour. My review is my own and has not been influenced in any way.

Welcome to Hollyhock Farm is the first Georgina Troy book I have read and what a lovely introduction it was! Set in Jersey we follow Lettie who is spending some time with her parents and brother on the family farm following the end of her relationship and job in London so Hollyhock Farm is the perfect place for her to relax and reflect on the next step in her life.

However, the tranquillity is shattered somewhat when her parents announce they are going to sell the farm to her uncle following the recent ill health of her father. Following a heart attack, they have decided it is the eye opener they needed and realise they need a slower pace of life and would actually like to see the world! Lettie is understandably shattered and decides on the spur of the moment that she would like to try and run the farm. Despite not showing too much interest as a youngster, Lettie is determined to give running the farm, her best shot whilst her parents go on a long cruise!

I really enjoyed this book set in a lovely Jersey village, along with its lovely inhabitants. I loved learning about the inner workings of farm life and along with Lettie discovered it is back breaking work that you don’t really switch off from! It isn’t something you ever stop worrying about from ensuring the animals are healthy to making sure all the paperwork is up to date. I’m not sure I could cope!

Obviously there just has to be a hint of romance on the horizon and that is in the form of the new vet in the village – Brodie. Having grown up near the village, Brodie gets the chance to set down roots and takes over the village practice following the retirement of the previous vet. He is friendly and caring but for some reason Lettie is frosty with him. We eventually learn why but happily they become friends and he becomes a close friend and confident to her.

The ending of the book leads the opportunity for future instalments which I hope there will be as I would love to be reunited with the farm and to see how things end up for them all!

What a delightful read and one I thoroughly enjoyed. Love the setting on Jersey and the characters, Lettie and her family and Brodie, an old flame. They make the story entertaining and enjoyable and a bit of fun as well.

I love the storyline of coming home, running a family farm and memories as well as a bit of romance. But it was no airy fairy book as it had some twists and turns, it has a great story to tell and the hard work put in on a farm is what it is all about, but in a good way.

Fun, entertaining, charming, this story of family, friendship, community and romance has it all and I highly recommend it.

Thank you NetGalley and Boldwood Books for giving me the opportunity to read and review this book.
