The romance between the main characters is masterfully depicted, full of passion, vulnerability, and genuine emotion. Their relationship's slow-burn development gives it more depth and genuineness, which makes it even more enjoyable to see them on their path to love. I enjoyed how the characters all seemed like one huge family. This is a beautifully written, moving story that shows that the true treasures are family, friends, and love.

Thank you netgalley, victory editing netgalley co-op, and the author for sending me a copy of this e-arc for my honest review.

Apparently this the last book of a series, so I can't wait to go back back and read the first four books. When Archie meets Emily, he has no idea the connection between them. He used to be a fighter pilot and he believes he is responsible for his copilot's untimely death. His copilot's was Emily's brother and her family also holds him responsible. Except he has no idea who Emily is. But secrets have a way of coming to the surface.

Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Having not read any previous books in this series, I still found this to be a solid standalone. It had a great plot and solid development. A few parts (dialogue and development) that fell flat for me, but otherwise I liked this and would read other pieces from this author.

Emily dreams of being a travel writer and publishing her own book. She’s stuck in her hometown writing about local places in San Diego until she’s offered to attend a writing conference in Colorado. Her brother died in a military accident and her Father blames Archie for his death. Archie lives in Colorado and runs a resort with his sister. This hotel is where Emily is travelling for her conference. It’s a coincidence but her mother asks her to meet Archie and find out if he is worth her fathers anger to try and bring him some peace. When they first meet they find themselves stuck in an elevator. They get talking and end up meeting up later on. Archie’s uncle who left the resort to him left a treasure hunt and Emily asks if she can help solve it and find the treasure for her article which Archie agrees.

I loved how all the characters felt like one big family. Kasper Ridge sounded so homey and somewhere I wish was real so I could visit! The treasure hunt was fun to read and I absolutely loved the conclusion! This was my first book by this author and I definitely want to read more.

5/5

A well written story captivating the emotions wrought on this family who have lost their son in a tragic accident, and the man they hold responsible who himself is wrecked by the death of his friend. A treasure hunt and following the clues bring our couple together and they start to heal as the ‘treasure’ is revealed.

2/5 🌶️

I can't believe Kasper Ridge has come to an end *sobs* but what a way to go. Ghost and Emily's story was as beautiful and heartbreaking as I was hoping. Watching Ghost forgive himself was just amazing and I was so happy Emily found her way to him to give him that gift.

I was internally screaming every time she put off telling him who she was. I knew it could only end badly and it was so hard to keep reading at times (in a good, angsty way) because I knew that, and yet I also knew she didn't have much choice and that I wouldn't have done anything different. So I just settled into my angst and read as fast as I could to see how it would all play out.

The ending was incredible. Her dad had me in tears. It was probably too fast to be believable, but I didn't care. It was wonderful and healing and had me all up in my feels. I adore Ghost so much and I was so happy he finally got his happily ever after.

Speaking of HEAs, the epilogue is everything you want to end a series. We get a look 5 years into the future and we get to reunite with all of our favorite couples and their babies and it's the best.

Bye, Kasper Ridge. Be back (with a reread) soon.

A solid wrap up....

Emily has questions about her brother's death.
Archie blames himself.
This is the wrap up to Kasper Ridge series.
A lot of question are answered, as Emily is in deep and in deception mode.

Love and heartbreak or healing?

In the final book in the Kasper Ridge series we get Archie and Emily’s story and so many unanswered questions. If I’m honest I was a little afraid to start this book. I don’t do well with deception and lies. Then I like the characters and know when the truth is revealed it’ll break me yet I couldn’t stop reading. Plus who wants a series to ever end? Not me I’m to invested in the best possible way. The book crushed me and then put me back together but the way the author writes pain is perfect.

The authors writing is flawless and the words are so captivating, the plot had so many twists and turns and none that I was expecting, and many shockingly intimate I have become a huge fan of this author. The author writes with so much intensity and emotion pulled from each book it’s felt page after page. Some are quick witted story lines are so perfect and lets you believe you have a front row seat. So being able to read this love story didn’t disappoint. The authors ability to have two separate individuals struggling in their everyday life and try to navigate someone else’s thoughts, needs and desires was intense and gives all the fills.

Authors Blurb: I'm in love with the enemy and he's falling for me too. The problem? He can never know who I really am...

When a writing conference and the promise of a career-making cover story send me to Kasper Ridge, I find myself face to face with Archie Kasper—the man my family blames for my brother's death. Worse? I'm falling for him--the one man my family can never accept... or forgive.

Archie Kasper, AKA Ghost, with those haunted eyes and a burden of guilt that slouches his broad shoulders, is nothing like the villain my father reviles. The former fighter pilot, now resort owner, carries the weight of the world, believing he doesn't deserve love or happiness. And as much as I want to hate him, I can't.

The more time I spend with Archie, helping him with the mysterious treasure hunt that could save his resort, the more I see the man behind the guilt. He's kind, he's broken, and he's beautiful. And to my utter shock, he's slowly making me forget why I came here in the first place.

But I'm living a lie.

I'm the sister of the man Archie believes he killed, and every moment I spend with him, every laugh we share, and every look that passes between us, feels like a betrayal. A betrayal that will surely break us when the truth comes out.

Because it will come out. Secrets this big always do. And when Archie finds out who I am, I'll lose not only the story that could make my career but the man who's slowly becoming my reason to stay.

This book has everything I love in a book. Then you add that it's beautifully written and believable. It is easily a five star read. Written in single POV this story flows so incredibly well that the next thing you know your 80% into the book and loving every second of it. The believable way the characters interact is perfect. Run, Hop, Jump or use your (1 click) finger to do whatever you have to do and get this amazing book. It'll break your heart, you'll want to scream with frustration and it'll let you discover that love just might conquer all. The chemistry is steamy and sweet and oh so romantic.

Thanks Netgally for letting me read and review.📚💕

“em. you forgave, and you forced me to see that holding onto all the pain was eating me alive. eating us. you saved us, basically.”

➛ tropes:
⤷ a brother’s best friend
⤷ fake identity romance
— genre: contemporary romance

oml, kinda feeling awkward 'cause i'm like the only one not giving this book 4 or 5 stars. 😅 but hey, i'll own it – let's call it a “me problem.”

now, gonna spill the tea on what didn't vibe with me in this book 🙃

➛ 1) the pacing:
guess what? i finished this book in, like, less than an hour! normally, that's cool 'cause it means i'm hooked, but this time? nah. it's weird – i zoomed through it, but now it's like, what even happened? 😀 no memories, no feelings, just nada. not love, not hate, just a blank…

this book's speed is crazy, like the fastest thing i've ever read. it snatches you up and sprints, everything's crazy fast, and bam, you're at the end. i swear, a minute ago, the main characters just met, and suddenly, epilogue time 😭. the speed stressed me out, not gonna lie.

➛ 2) emily schaeffer (FMC):
ugh, seriously, she got on my last nerve 😐. like, i couldn't get her at all, and it was kinda dumb. i'm legit baffled thinking about her – so irritating, i couldn't deal. and why's she playing the guilt card ALL THE TIME? it's not a crime wanting to know about her brother’s death, right? so, she goes and meets archie, who was INVOLVED in the accident, but keeps it a secret who she really is. which like, what was the point in doing so? 😭 anyway, now she’s on a insufferable guilt trip. i don't get it – so many “guilts” in her chapters, i almost lost it.

➛ 3) the romance:
just gotta say two words: forced and unreal. the book's speed? so was their relationship “development” if you even wanna call it that. they meet, chat, dive deep into talks – cool, right? but bam! after just one convo, she's all into him, forgetting why she's even at his retreat. okay, some people catch feelings quick, fair enough. but then, bam again –INSTALUST/LOVE. ugh, hate that. it's not even fun; i'm all about slow burns. this one? zero development, just dragged into their speed race 🥱. and how did she fall in love so darn fast with the guy her family blamed for her brother’s death for years? like, did she forget herself? 😭 after their first time sleeping together, it's all “can't live without you” vibe – snooze. then the big reveal about her identity, a third-act-breakup (that's short-lived), and poof, back together, happily in love. didn't vibe with me; their romance felt so pushed and just not real 🤷🏾‍♀️

➛ overall:
yeah, this one didn't really do it for me. it was kinda overwhelming and forgettable. no vibes with the characters or the story, you know? full disclosure, i've never read anything from this author or the other books in the series, so maybe that's why it didn't click 🤷🏾‍♀️. but i'm still gonna give archie's sister and will's story a shot – they seemed cute 😋. not much else to say, so i'm wrapping up the review. props to the author, though. it's not a bad book; it's just a “me” thing. still gonna recommend it 'cause others are loving it.
