I did my best to finish this book but I just can’t for many reasons.

1) The writing is overdone and flowery almost to the point of unreadability. This reads like a high schoolers first draft of an edgy horror novel.
2) The women are terribly written. At the point I stopped I got an unemotional robot and an overly flirtatious man wrecker.
3) The gore and violence are lackluster.
4) The male MC is boring and bland.

This book is trying its best to be the Dresden Files and just falls flat for me. Do not care about how this ends and do not recommend it.

this was a strong start to the Joe Kellerman series, it had everything that I was looking for in this type of book, The characters were everything that I was looking for as a horror novel. The characters felt like they were supposed to and thought it was really well done. Tom Mock has a great writing style and left me wanting to read more from them.

Honest Opinions.

I was confused throughout this book, not sure if I missed something, it took me too long to read because I had to keep reading chapters over and over again, and the time jumps and memory jumps were all over the place and just confused me.

It was a good book overall, but just super confusing.

It’s been a long time since I’ve read a dark/horror fantasy.
This was absolutely gorgeously written. The characters were complex, and the story was engrossing. This is how I really enjoy my fantasy and it is so hard to come by.

Dont miss this if you want your fantasy on the darker and deeper side.
