The Suite Life is an escapist’s fantasy. It felt indulgent and like I won the lottery while I read. I cannot say enough how much fun this was to read. On top of the hilarious and enjoyable content, this book was very well-written and easy to get swept away into the story. This would be a perfect beach read or cozy binge at home.

The only thing I can think of on the line of criticism was that there seemed to be a little more time spent with the exposition and failed dates at the beginning than seemed necessary to the plot. Those parts were very funny, so I do not say that out of a lack of enjoyment. Just maybe if they had been tied into the ending better it would have more purpose than it did.

Overall, I loved this book. This was my first time reading Portia MacIntosh’s work, but more of her books will be on my TBR after this!

Thank you to Boldwood Books for this arc in exchange for a honest review. “The Suite Life” by Portia MacIntosh is a fun, fast-paced read. Following Gigi's misadventures in Hawaii for her sister's wedding, the book gives us tropes like forced proximity and closed-door romance. Despite its enjoyable banter and lovable protagonist, Gigi's overly forgiving nature felt somewhat unrealistic. Overall, it's an entertaining story with a satisfying conclusion.

Thanks NetGalley and BoldwoodBooks for this ARC!

This was such a fun read! Gigi’s story had everything to enjoy: hilarious banter, interesting storylines, disastrous dates, beautiful resort vacation, an advantageous misunderstanding, supportive family, handsome love interest… It was exactly what one would expect from MacIntosh and more.

Some of the the things that bothered me include: Sunshine’s character and it’s development (felt inauthentic to have her as a main baddie and then a friend), Gigi’s prolonged disastrous dates storyline before the trip to Hawaii (it was too many bad ones causing it he whole thing giving rather cringeworthy vibe by the end of it), Gigi’s lies about having a date (like the lie itself was kinda funny but then pushing the mystery narrative around it was slightly tiring by the end) and Donnie’s reveal (rather rushed, would be good to see more of the consequences).

Overall a great story, solid 4/5.

📖📖 Book Review 📖📖 Everyone loves a wedding, right? Not Gigi…she adores her sister but attending a destination wedding where her ex-boyfriend is the best man is less than ideal. Honestly, it is absolutely anxiety provoking. While it would be absolutely mortifying to be in her dilemma, we totally sympathize with Gigi’s dilemma and feel invested in her search for the perfect date to show everyone that she really is an amazing catch. While life was looking pretty bleak at the beginning of the novel, the trip to Hawaii takes some unexpectedly hopeful and surprising turns. The Suite Life is a delightfully fun read, reminding us that sometimes we have to get through the rough patches to get to the sweet side of life.

Review is on Goodreads and will be posted to Instagram in April!

Such a funny summer read.

This is such a fun and easy to read summer romance.

Gi Gi has her sisters Hawaiian wedding to look forward to and a luxury holiday except she’s dreading it because her ex is the best man and he’s bringing his new girlfriend. Gi Gi has to find a date to the wedding and has many unfortunate disasters along the way.

Lots of fun what’s better than a beachy summer wedding story!

The Suite Life by Portia Macintosh is a perfect summer read - light, entertaining, and with a gorgeous Hawaiian backdrop setting the scene.
Gigi needs to get a date for her sister's wedding, as her ex (the best man) is bringing his new girlfriend - a gorgeous reality star. The pressure is on! Gigi endures a string of bad dates in her quest for the perfect plus one, finally hoping that she will meet someone suitable at the actual wedding resort in the days before the ceremony.
On arrival at The Grand Palm Resort in Maui Gigi is mysteriously upgraded to a VIP suite and treated like a celebrity by the staff - but why? Can Gigi solve the mystery and get a date - I recommend you read the book and find out!

Book Review: The Suite Life
Stars: 4 X 5

Thank You @netgalley for this ARC

I have to preface my review by stating that I absolutely adore Portia MacIntosh‘s Books.

Gigi is a hairdresser. Her sister is getting married in Hawaii. Gigi is the Maid of Honor. All is going well till the best man arrives who happens to be Gigi’s ex.
To make matters worse, he has also brought his new girlfriend name Sunshine who is a celebrity. So not to be out done Gigi decides tries her hand at dating to try to find herself a date to the wedding. I do have to admit the attempt at dating and failing is pretty humorous. At the resort Gigi room is upgraded to a suite and she is given VIP status. This is a big mystery to her but what is a girl to do but enjoy it!
While at the resort Gigi keeps running into this guy named Donnie. Her and Donnie chit chat many times and finally after so many failed dated she talks with Donnie and he agrees to be her plus one for the wedding. The deception is running at full speed as she is introducing Donnie as her boyfriend. As Donnie and Gigi spend more and more time together, they start to realized that they have a connection. The story of all of this and wedding dos and don’t is so funny. There is chaos, loved, friendship, humor and along with all of that there is a bit of family drama. in the end the Bride and Groom do tie the knot and Donnie and Gigi make a decision about their relationship. You will need to read this book to find out. In the Gigi has found what love is again, death with the mystery of her hotel room and had a few reveals I did not see coming. This was a great book to read and who would not like a book set in paradise. The author also did a great and describing the surroundings in Hawaii. I have been there many times and I could visualize the scenes.

This was a super cute slow burn romance that I enjoyed! A little slower and a little predictable but overall still fun and cute and charming. I do wish there was some more dimension to the characters? Some of the banter felt a little juvenile or surface level. The setting was great!

This was is such a cute premise and easy rom-com to breeze through. However, the characters were pretty one dimensional to me and didn't offer much substance. The whole thing felt like an old Disney channel movie that you had to just smile and nod along with, even if some parts seemed rushed or fake. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for letting me read this book!

"The Suite Life", by Portia MacIntosh, is all about Gigi, who is very excited about her sister's destination wedding. However, having been unceremoniously dumped by her boyfriend (who just so happens to be part of the wedding party), Gigi is on the hunt for a new boyfriend to take with her to the wedding so she won't be pitied as the only single one in the wedding party. As though it wasn't bad enough that she was dumped, she finds out that her boyfriend had been cheating on her as well. Gigi's efforts are unsuccessful, and she ends up leaving for the wedding single. But upon arriving at the Hawaiian resort, a mix up sees her being placed in a multi-level suite, and she receives non-stop attention and receives anything she could possibly want. And along the way, she keeps running into the same guy at the pool, restaurant, beach, etc. Donnie agrees to help Gigi with her plan, but they quickly discover that they could be more than just friends -- and there are other mysteries uncovered along the way.

I thought there were cute parts to this book, but the sum total was just okay for me. Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC. All opinions are my own.

One of my more favorite Portia books, we are back again in Hawaii for another story, but it's different from the Meet Cute. This one begins with a bad situation which ultimately turns into a mystery and a happily ever after. The supporting cast of characters is fantastic and really makes the story was it is. There is a twist ending, too! One of the things I loved about this story was getting a taste of the sweet life...the suite life...vicariously through Gigi. It's not a lifestyle I'll ever get to experience, and we all know that a good book allows you to experience other things through the pages...like this one.

Spoiler free ARC review: 4.25 ⭐️

The Suite Life follows FMC Gigi as she struggles to find an impressive date for her sister’s wedding in Hawaii. Her ex is the best man and his new celebrity girlfriend is coming as his date and Gigi wants to prove that she’s moved on too. Through a series of failed dates, she shows up to the island alone. However, once she arrives she’s found a lucky streak.

This is a super cute and quick read closed door, slow burn rom com. I would recommend to anyone looking for something light and happy. I really loved Gigi’s character, as she was strong and above the childish actions of some of the other characters.

Very cute! Tropes: forced proximity, strangers to friends to lovers, slow burn, closed door, HEA

Gigi urgently needs a date for her sister's destination wedding in Hawaii since her ex is the best man and he is bringing his new girlfriend. Since she had no luck so far at home in Lonfon her last chance is finding a plus-one at the resort. When she arrives in the luxury resort she gets upgraded to a suite and treated like a VIP. Can she find a date in time for the wedding?
I really liked reading this book and finished it in one day. The story was highly entertaining and made me laugh out loud at times. The FMC was very relatable and the supporting characters were believable. All in all a very entertaining romance.
I received an ARC via Netgalley.com and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Unfortunately this wasn’t a hit for me! I found the writing incredibly hard to get into, and the characters were all a little flat and hard to like. I also didn’t like that so much of this relied on lies and deception told to Gigi’s family. There was also a lot of casual misogyny hidden in the book and the characters that made me quite uncomfortable when reading. While the premise was cute, nothing else worked for me!

If you loved the Spanish love deception, you're going to love this book as well! It was a cute romance story but very predictable. You were able to laugh and cry with the characters, which was so fun! But I wished it was a bit more fast paced.

Thank you to NetGalley and Boldwood Books for providing this book, with my honest review below.

Portia Macintosh writes a ton of books and so naturally there are some shining stars, middle of the road, and a few that just don’t hit the right tone for me. The Suite Life was what I would shelve as a shining star, with an interesting plot and fun characters.

Gigi finds herself on a run of bad luck, heading to her sister’s Hawaiian wedding where her long term ex boyfriend will be part of the wedding party and his new girlfriend will be attending. Somehow Gigi ends up getting the VIP treatment which not only has its material perks, but adds an air of mystery and mini revenge for her. Sadly she had led her family to believe she was bringing a date when she didn’t actually have one, so we follow her attempts to bag an impressive date while in Hawaii.

This is really all about the character dynamics and dialogue, and it was done very well. Gigi isn’t annoying, just a bit clueless, and that allows you to root for her even through her self inflicted predicament. Recommended if you enjoy lighter fare that will take you away (and give you a taste of some perks).

3.5/5 - I wish I was rating this higher, because it was a fun setting with really strong main characters, but I really hated that the story was based on the fact that Gigi was lying to her family. I also really disliked multiple parts of the Nathan & Sunshine storyline, and because of that the ending was disappointing to me which isn’t a fun feeling to have to end the book with.

That being said, Donnie is honestly probably my favourite character that I’ve ever read in a Portia MacIntosh novel. I loved how he was introduced, and kept hoping for even more chapters with him (and luckily, there were plenty). So my rating is definitely based a lot on my adoration of him.

This book is coming out less than 2 years after The Meet Cute Method, and I enjoyed that book a lot. But I don’t know if I needed to read the story of a blonde single English woman who goes to Maui and ends up unexpectedly getting a massive two-storey suite to stay in at the Grand Palm Hotel twice. The stories overall are certainly different, it just seemed a bit odd to me to have that specific connection in two books.

I am glad that I read this because I love when characters in a book win me over. I can see myself rereading this, and I would recommend because I know that my issues with it were purely based on personal taste.

Thank you to the publisher & NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review an advanced copy of this book! I voluntarily read this book, and all thoughts and opinions are my own.

The Suite Life was a quick and cute romance read and a book that kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time! From all of the horrible dates to the family drama, there was plenty of fun to be had in this book. This book surrounds the main character Gigi, who attends her sister's wedding in Hawaii. However, her date, her now ex-boyfriend Nathan, is the best man for the groom, and he is bringing his new and famous girlfriend, Sunshine. To not look lame in front of her family or embarrass herself in front of her ex, Gigi wants to find a date to the wedding who is just as stunning (if not more) than Nathan's famous girlfriend. This tale follows all of her failed dates, and how one love interest may be right in front of you the entire time, you may just not yet know it.
Not only is this about Gigi's love life though. There also happens to be a mix-up with Gigi's room once she arrives in Hawaii, and ends up in a luxurious suite, not knowing how she scored such an amazing room. The secondary plot to this novel is to find out why she had gotten moved to this room, and who may be connected to it.

Overall, I really enjoyed this book (considering I read it in <24 hours). The short chapters and the cliffhangers kept me interested throughout, and I would really like to re-read this book over the summer to get the true experience of the island vibes. I feel like every character had their own distinct personality, and everyone got to have their own little moment of fame during this book. This is a great novel by MacIntosh and I would love to explore some of her other work in the future!

This was a great read, with elements of romance, mystery, and comedy, all well balanced. The story had my hooked from the beginning with the pure hilarity of what happens to our heroine, and how likeable she is. It’s a clean read, so you can safely recommend it to your grandma and your teenage niece, and they’ll likely each love it just as much. I would definitely recommend this book, and will be keeping an eye out for others by this author

GiGi needs a date for her sister's wedding; but not just a regular date, it needs to be a jaw dropping, star spangled date to blow her ex boyfriends gorgeous new celebrity girlfriend out of the water. After getting to hawaai for the wedding and still being spectacularly single, Gigi's luck seems to change when she gets upgraded and finds someone to help her find the best date.

This is quite a typical rom con kind of book; it has MacIntosh's usual likeable characters and reality mixed with a dash of glamour and special experiences that give the book a bit of escapism. It's an enjoyable read with a satisfyingly happy ending.
