this was very much a slowburn that I enjoyed. two flawed complicated characters, I loved the journey.

Let me just start by saying, I LOVED this book! And when is the next one coming out?! To be continued… has me wondering what’s next for Margot and Jackson ☺️

This book grabbed my attention right away, which really does not happen often for me. Even with my favorite authors. The tension, the living across the hall banter, Rae and matt, all of it was great. Personally I think college settings are my favorite, maybe because it’s so easy to relate to?

Really looking forward to more!

I thought I would love this; I enjoyed Heather Garvin's other books. I found this one oddly immature and didn't like either main character.

JDCMY is Garvin at her best. I’ve read almost all of her books and enjoyed every one but this one was extra special. The banter between Margot and Jackson was perfect. It had just the right amount of spice for me. AND THAT ENDING! I got literal chills when my brain started putting together what was going on.

If you’re a romance reader you absolutely have to pick this one up. Especially since there is a sequel coming in September!! And it’s now available on Kindle Unlimited!

I won’t be reviewing this one on my public platforms (Goodreads + TikTok) as I unfortunately DNFed at 13%
Here are my personal reasons:
- I definitely wouldn’t call this ‘enemies to lovers’. Their initial spat could’ve been dealt with and solved with the first page or two realistically. Both characters chose to act like absolute children and the way Jackson just closed to door on Margot when she had a VERY valid complaint that even he mentally thought about, gave me a massive ick.
- After being introduced to the 2 main characters and their best friends, Margot then meets some other girls in the dorm. This felt very odd as we’ve literally JUST been introduced to the setting and these characters, and now we’re already moving on to meeting new people? It was just very odd timing to me.
- At 13%, I DNFed because I just KNEW I wouldn’t be able to handle the constant bickering, jabs, and trying to annoy the other that the main characters were doing. It just felt so immature and childish. We’re arguing over the fact that he was playing his guitar LOUDLY at 2am and she asked him to stop… It’s a very weak beginning and not a very strong disagreement for BOTH main characters to be so mad and annoyed at the other.

The intrigue is definitely there. I do want to know how to characters resolve their disagreement with each other and also their own internal struggle with belonging and just overall life really. But I just truly don’t think I’d be able to appreciate their romance at this current stage.

4⭐️- rockstar romance, enemies to lovers and next door neighbours? So many amazing tropes in one book and Heather Garvin delivered them all perfectly, this was such a fun read! The story starts with the two main characters Jackson and Margot having instant drama after just moving into their college dorm, then their best friends start dating and they’re suddenly forced into spending a lot more time together.

I felt like Jackson and Margot were complete opposites when I first started reading, thinking it was no surprise they constantly clashed! But the more I read, it quickly became clear they were a lot more similair than either of them realised. They both came from a family who didn’t accept their passions in life and I loved how they were able to celebrate these things for each other over the book. The tension and banter in this was perfection and Heather developed the side characters so well too.

I’m so excited for book two! There’s a lot more to Jackson and Margot’s story and I can’t wait to find out more 🎸

The story of Margot and Jackson. They meet when they live opposite each other in college and he does nothing but annoy her. A fun read, I liked how it was told from both points of view.

What a refreshing read! I really enjoyed reading this, and finished it pretty quickly which is awesome because I’ve been in a bit of a reading slump. Jackson and Margot reminded me of myself at that age, when the world is huge and the future stretches wide open and love (and lust) is EVERYTHING. I really enjoyed the friendships between Margot and Rae, and Jackson and Matt too. The author did a brilliant job of creating realistic characters and friendships. The spice was perfect, as was the banter. Nothing to complain about here. Thanks Netgalley and the publisher.

I love Heather Garvin so much. I believe this is my fifth book of hers and I liked all of them so much except Crossing the Line which was still fine to me. But honestly I really enjoy her writing style, the characters are always very lovable and fun and there is always drama and action in her books. This one might be my new favorite even though I am NOT usually a rockstar romance girl😊

I love music and reading and this book perfectly combines the two!

Devoured this in one day!
I wasn’t so sure how to feel about this book in the beginning but it quickly became such a fun and easy read. This book had me giggling and blushing and reminiscing on my college dorm days for real!! The banter was amazing, the music aspect was a little cheesy for me not gonna lie, but I thought it was cute because sharing music was definitely the main source of flirtation as a freshman in college. Overall, this is something I’d recommend to friends for a fun read!

This story is adorable. Margot decides to leave the pressure of her parents and break up with her boyfriend and start afresh in college studying what she is really passionate about, and Jackson is forced to go there by his parents, who don't approve of him going into music. Despite the fact that at the beginning they can't stand each other, they soon start to understand each other. Even Margot is interested in Jackson's music, and this means a lot to him.
It's very easy to empathize with these two characters, as they both have future plans made, but deep down neither has anything clear, and even less so after they begin to get intimate and fall in love.
The interactions between them have been a lot of fun, and you really get to see that moment when the transition from hate to love happens. I also loved Rae and Matt, they have a beautiful and very healthy relationship, and Matt's parents and grandmother are wonderful! 🥰
I would have liked more group moments with Izzy and Jess, as they are introduced as new friendships at the beginning (and all swifties, yay!), but then they go a bit unnoticed. It has also happened with Jackson's band, and I'm really excited to find out more about the members.
The ending has a little cliffhanger, so I need to read the second one to find out what's in store for these two. I'm really looking forward to it! 😍
All in all, it's a very cute and entertaining book, perfect for fangirling over having a musician boyfriend who loves Arctic Monkeys and listens to Taylor Swift because she reminds him of you 💜

i absolutely loved this book so much!!! i was immediately hooked from the very first chapter & i found every opportunity i could to pick this up on my kindle and read it!! probably one of my top favorite reads of the year.

margot & jackson’s relationship was so special. they are both students at UCF and live across the hall from each other in the dorms. jackson is an arctic monkeys fan & margot loves taylor swift and fleetwood mac.

their endless banter was truly everything & it did not let up the entire book. i love how jackson nicknamed her “red” and how they shared their music genres with each other & how when jackson wanted to drop out of college to join his new band on tour that margot was so excited & supportive of him because jackson’s father did not want him to drop out of college at all.

the side characters were also great!! matt & rae who are the best friends of margot & jackson are truly the cutest!! i need to get a physical copy for my collection because i truly loved it that much! can’t wait for the next book!

OMG!! I cannot tell you how much I loved this book! It kept me hooked and I can tell you that Margot and Jackson are going to steal your hearts!! 💙 Thank you so much Netgalley & Heather Garvin for the change you've given me to read this AMAZING, ADDICTING story!!

The relationship between Margot and Jackson is not the best from the beginning🤣. Jackson is a young talented guitarist, who is disturbing the silence of his colleague who lives next door (Margot). From there everything just keeps pushing Margot buttons and she cannot stand that boy.

The banter between these two was THE BEST! I just loooved reading all their funny meetings and their teasing on each other🤭. It was a clear attraction between them and you could just feel the sparklers flying when they touch just an inch.

Even tho Margot seemed too scared of her feelings, it didn't made me hate her and I understood her side of the story. Jackson is such a sweetheart and always has his good mood and jokes with him, which made me fall for him instantly💙.

An important part to the story was played by their best friends, Rae and Matt. They were rooting from the beginning for their friends to be together too, but the hate between Margot and Jackson was pretty visible to everyone. Until everything changed. And they secretly started something together🤭.

I truly, truly recommend this book! It was perfect from my point of view and you should definitely read it if you love these tropes:

I devoured this book in a whole day. I wasn't expecting to enjoy it as much as I did but I just couldn't put it down. I loved the chemistry of Margot & Jackson together, he even gave her a nickname which of course she hated. Something about he falls first books just make me feel all giddy inside. Their first kiss just left me sitting there with my jaw on the floor. By the end of the book I was crying happy tears and kicking my feet with happiness. It made my teenage self so jealous, This would've been a teenage dream come true. I will definitely be looking for more books by this author. I really enjoyed her writing,

This book was absolutely made for me to read! The music obsessed girlie in me loved every second of this book!

I loved that each of the characters had their own music taste (Swiftie & Arctic Monkeys fan) and how they shared it with each other. It was so wholesome to see each of them slowly starting to like each other’s music taste. Margot and Jackson’s banter were the best! I was eating it up so bad.

I really liked Margot! She was so relatable. I loved how she reacted when Jackson riled her up. It was hilarious! Jackson was such charming and snarky mmc. I liked how he was so carefree and how opposite it was to Margot’s attitude. These two really were like opposite magnets that were attracted to each other. I love them so much. Their love story was sweet and hot at the same time. I loved seeing them slowly develop feelings for each other!

This book was so entertaining! I’m so glad I bought it on my kindle as well. This book deserves all the hype. 🫶

I’d definitely recommend it to all my music lovers and readers who live for the banter between characters! 🎸❤️‍🔥
