I didn’t realise this was a sequel and therefore missed a lot of context, but either way, this was a fun read and well written !!! Will definitely seek out the first book and reread it at some point !!!

Danny and his friends have already saved the world once, when his grandfather left him in charge of the Interdimensional Lost Property Office that he runs. Now he, Modge and Inaaya think they know what they are doing, until they have to manage Returns Day and they don't even know where the vault is!
This is a really fun read, just as good as the first book and I hope there will be more to come in the series. I really liked the narrator too.

Alien Apocalypse is a face-faced, action-packed sequel to the first Interdimensional Explorers book. Here, we go on another adventure in space with Danny, Modge and Inaaya.

This book has everything the first book has - action, humour, aliens - but with this one, the monsters get a bit more scary, the plot becomes a bit more darker, and the threats become more real. I loved this evolution into slightly more darker territory while retaining the light, fun aspects of book 1.

Lorraine's books are essential for any primary libraries. Her first two books are exceptional UKS2 reads, while this and the first Interdimensional Explorers book, and perfect for Year 4 and up.

The narrator was also great for this book and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

ALIEN APOCALYPSE is another great sci-fi adventure full of imaginative monsters, a multiverse of worlds, and dodgy officers that the trio must bring down - saving the multiverse again.

This was another blast of a book. I love the imagination that goes into this series. There are new aliens for the trio to meet with all sorts of fun physiology. Multiple heads! Multiple arms! Giant snail like transports! It's a book that dives into the weirdest, most wonderful parts of the author's imagination, creating a colourful, bizarre world that's so much fun to explore.

While INTERDIMENSIONAL EXPLORERS looked at how we can be blind to the things our close ones are going through, ALIEN APOCALYPSE explores the fear of losing those we love. Modge and Inaaya are planning to work on things other than the IDLPO and Danny fears that losing this secret will mess with their friendship. It's a really nice metaphor for moving to other schools (and many readers will be facing this with the transition to secondary school.)

Adonis Siddique narrates this book again, bringing the range of characters to life. Danny, Modge, and Inaaya are so unique and it's immediately possible to work out who's insulting whom. The new aliens get their own voices too, including the "cool" older apprentice who is voiced in such a way that it's easy to tell why he immediately rubs Danny up.

I don't know if there will be more books in this series (the original deal was only for two books), but I would happily read more adventures about these kids and the multiverse.

A fun-packed, inter-dimensional adventure. I loved the light-hearted tone and irreverent humour.
Lorraine Gregory totally exploits the endless possibilities of the multiverse with a whole host of interesting characters: we have bureaucrats at the various branches of the Inter-dimensional Lost Property Office (IDLPO); a queen and her loyal subjects; and even an added dash of worm cult.
Danny’s Grandad’s cruise is terribly timed; his expertise is sorely needed: it’s nearly Returns Day and, as if that isn’t enough, something very important is stolen from the vaults of the IDLPO. Can Danny, now an official apprentice caretaker, improvise, and with help from Modge and Inaaya save the day? The kids soon discover that the stakes could not be higher!
Despite the extra-terrestrial settings, what I totally loved was the thread of relatability running through the whole thing. From Grandad’s ‘fancy woman’ to the snarky exchanges between Danny and his cousin and little moments like Modge still not being back from his wee when it’s all kicking off!

I listened to the audiobook and I really enjoyed Addonis Siddique’s narration: his tone and pace suited the book perfectly. There’s a dodgy Scottish accent thrown in at one point which just added to the madness.

I hadn’t read the first installment of Interdimensional Explorers but I would definitely pick it up now and read any subsequent adventures. More importantly, I know a load of kids who will LOVE this!

Thanks to Netgalley and HarperCollins UK Audio for letting me listen to this audiobook in return for an honest review.

Apocalyptic adventure at its finest!

Picking up where the last book ended, Danny, Modge and Inaaya are still helping Danny’s grandad to run the Interdimensional Lost Property Office, hidden at the back of the old locker at the back of his office on the estate where they live. The difference is that this time, Danny is in training to become Grandad’s apprentice and everyone is starting to move on and go their separate ways. Worse still, Danny’s grandad is going on holiday, with the aunt of his sworn enemies.

Mrs A recruits Niggle, a two-headed creature from a different dimension, to come and give Danny and his friends the training that they will require to successfully complete ‘Returns Day’ using a Watchamacallit, a pocket watch and plenty of blood, sweat and tears. Danny starts to wonder if he is up to the task and then a double cross happens throwing the team into another exhilarating adventure. With royal rebellions, cult worship, traitors in the camp and a giant, evil Flurm Worm, all standing in the way of the safety of the Multiverse, can Danny, Inaaya and Modge save the day yet again?

This audiobook was a joy to listen to. It is light hearted and fun, yet delivers fast paced action in spades. Lorraine Gregory captures our attention swiftly and delivers what would be a perfectly wonderful adventure in the first few chapters, just to whet our whistles for the main story. The narrator is highly skilled and engaging and has a brilliant range of voice characters.

Exciting, fast paced audio fun for children and young teenagers. Second in the series. Perfectly crafted story telling. A bit of science, lots of humour, many aliens and some villainy, all wrapped up in a space adventure of amazing inter-dimensional proportions. Thank you to Harper Collins UK Audio and NetGalley for the ARC. The views expressed are all mine, freely given.
