I love a good rom-com and Enemies-to-Lover style books. When these books are also combined with a perfect picture-postcard setting like this book was, I find that they can have the perfect dose of escapism needed to forget the realities of the daily grind. This book was no exception!
Set on the beautiful Greek Island of Preveza, the Greenberg family have arrived for their annual summer holiday. Despite the siblings in the family all being adults and having long flown the nest, they still holiday together every year with their parents.
Flo (the FMC), is trying to build her life back together after suffering from a mental breakdown two years prior. What she didn't bargain for, was that her big brother's best friend Jamie (the very sexy, MMC), would also be joining them for this holiday. There is some unfinished history and animosity between Flo and Jamie, particularly since Christmas when they last saw each other, so this reunion was not particularly well received by Flo. She is angry, anxious and it leaves things feeling very awkward between them. Flo had been avoiding Jamie since last Christmas, so how will she cope with being stuck living with him for two weeks under the Greek sun?
I loved the dynamic family relationship and characters in this book. The Greenberg parents were obviously caring people and the whole family had a lot of love for each other, despite the extremely strong sibling rivalry between Flo and her brothers. Despite being laugh-out-loud in parts, there was a continuing undercurrent discussing mental health, anxiety and grief. This was respectfully handled by the author and showed that even the strongest people you know, aren't always as strong as they may seem at face value.
There was a twist towards the end of the book, which I had correctly predicted right from the start. This didn't leave me feeling disappointed however. Like most rom-com's, it is predictable, but wraps you up like a warm hug. There was quite a traumatic scene around the middle of the book, with an unsavoury, third-party character, which may be triggering for some. I did feel like this event was simply forgotten about and given the severity of the situation, I felt that maybe more should have been made of this, after the event. All in all though, I thought this book was the perfect happily-ever-after, easy beach read and I devoured it in one afternoon.
This was the first novel that I have read by Laura Jane Williams and it will not be my last! Thank you to the author, Netgalley and the publishers for the advance reader copy.

This was a lot of fun if you’re a fan of the enemies to lovers trope. It follows Flo who’s on a Greek holiday with her family. Her brother’s friend Jamie tags along - and it turns out they’ve got some history. The last thing Flo wants is to be alone with this man but over the course of the trip, they’re put into situations together where they can start to mend bridges. And of course, feeling don’t just go away.
This was fairly run of the mill but still a ton of fun. It reminded me of something like The Proposal actually. My main gripe is that I found Flo pretty irritating so struggled to root for her. Many of her problems are down to her own attitude. Nevertheless I think a lot of people will find enjoyment in watching these two thaw towards each other.

Firstly I would like to thank Laura Jane Williams , Random House UK, Cornerstone | Penguin and NetGalley for providing me with an advanced copy of this new novel to read and provide an unbiased review.
This is the first book by Laura Jane Williams I have read although I have heard so many positive things about her previous works on social media.
The story follows the main character Flo who has embarked on a family holiday to Greece. Having all flown the nest - the holiday is the perfect time to catch up with parents , siblings and in-laws in a picture perfect setting away from everyday life. Flo had no idea that her brother's best friend Jamie would also be accompanying them until he turns up at the beach . Having avoided him for the last year due to an awkward situation the previous Christmas , Flo must pull herself together and endure his company for the sake of her family and her sanity.
Even though the book is titled' enemies to lovers' Flo and Jamie are not enemies and its obvious to the reader that there is an undeniable attraction from start to finish. It is a slow burn captivating novel where the reader knows from the offset what the conclusion will be, but enjoys the journey nonetheless. I absolutely adored the Greek setting and the banter between the siblings . When all jokes are aside it was obvious just how much family solidarity there was. I loved the family dynamic and how all the adult children still love to spend time with their parents and revel in one another's company.
The author has a great contemporary style that makes every character within the pages so relatable providing a great Summer beach read
full of humour and lots of awkwardness and mutual misunderstandings . It is a light-hearted read and a distraction from everyday life and I enjoyed every minute of it from beginning to end. Highly recommended

Thanks to Net Galley for letting me read this arc 💛 So… this book was pretty good! I loved Jamie (what a king) and the British writing style- the British slang and phrases!! Some of the characters weren’t completely likeable (I thought Flo was nice but she seemed quite self absorbed at some points). The twist with the Christmas note was so random?? But it was a really enjoyable read and good summer book (especially if you are going on a Greek holiday 🇬🇷😉).
The formatting wasn’t great but assume this has been fixed with publishing.

I devoured this one in just about one sitting. Enemies to Lovers was sweet and funny. While you know that Flo hasn't had an easy ride, she really can't see how it's affected her loved ones and she can appear selfish. I really enjoyed her family, her parents especially, but to feel the brunt of Laurie's actions he could have done with being more fleshed out. That the rest of the family are so accepting so quickly, it's hard to understand his reticence. The romance is really cute, the Enemies to Lovers was excellent. A really fun book!

You cannot beat a brother’s best friend enemies to lovers. I’m sorry, but that is by far the best trope combo. Throw in a flooded spare bedroom that means Flo and Jamie have to share a twin room? Perfection.
I absolutely loved Flo - she’s so incredibly relatable with her constant anxiety and chaotic behaviour, whilst liking everything to be a certain way, very much like me! Her relationships with her family were so heartwarming to read, and I loved the complex family dynamic this brought to the story. Everyone had their own issues they were working through, and I loved how we saw a vulnerable side to every single person in the book. Familial relationships can be complicated, and this book captured that perfectly.
Quick shoutout to the secondary characters of this book too - Flo’s parents? Fucking iconic. Also her sister-in-law Kate is such a babe and I love the friendship they have!
Now let’s move onto my newest book boyfriend, Jamie. Woah. This man is sensitive, funny, a bit grumpy, and SMOKIN hot. I found myself literally squirming in my chair at all the almosts and near-misses with him and Flo, and squealing whenever anything did actually happen. There is definitely a bit of spice in this book 👀🌶️ however it’s not too graphic and only for very short scenes, so if spice isn’t your thing you would still enjoy this one!
I binged this book in under 24 hours - it’s a super easy read and despite slightly long chapters, it really flies by.

What a fun book! Although the main character has gone through some really hard times with a breakdown/burnout while doing her PhD, the book is set on a family holiday in Greece. So, how a romance can develop when Flo’s, the female main character, family is on the page? Well, Laura Jane Williams did! This book had a perfect combination of romantic moments between Flo and Jamie (who started the book disliking each other) and the Greenbergs. I think one of the best things about this book was the family, each character was unique, and their moments together were so funny and sometimes so heartwarming. I laughed a lot reading this book! The writing made me feel like I was watching a romantic comedy from the 2000s, set in Greece, I could almost feel the sun and smell the sea breeze. It was very visual.
Reading this book went so quickly because there was always something going on, they were playing games or doing stuff around the island or meeting people or just having a great banter as a family. But also, the book touches on the subject of mental health and the moments where Flo sees everyone’s vulnerability are very nice. Also, I love seeing characters going from "I can't stand to talk to you" to "I think I like you".
The only reason why I didn’t rate this book 5 stars is that sometimes I felt confused about the character’s position in a scene. Jamie was in the bedroom and then suddenly he was swimming or sometimes I was like: where are they? Nonetheless, this didn’t prevent me from having a blast with this book.
Thanks to NetGalley UK and Penguin for sending me this advance copy in exchange for an honest review.

Overall, the book was an easy read, perfect to take with you on those beach holidays this summer. It was lighthearted and funny, with a brother’s best friend romance and a nice HEA to end.

Thank you @netgalley for giving me the opportunity to read this ARC!
This did exactly what I said on the tin and was a true enemies to lovers.
It took me a little bit to get into as I struggled with Flo (fmc) to begin with. But this family reminds me of my own and our family holidays and I loved how it played out!
Definitely a perfect holiday read for the summer
I want to be Kate when I grow up. 💖

I have previously read the love square so I was excited to read this. Enemies to Lover. Is about Flo and Jamie. Flo is recovering from a breakdown and goes on a family holiday . Jamie is Flo’s brother’s best friend they don’t particularly get on. The book is a slow burn romance. It was an enjoyable read.

Flo is in recovery from an anxious breakdown and off on holiday with her family. When she gets there she realises her brother's best friend has been invited as well - they have history so it makes her holiday awkward right from the start.
The back-and-forth energy between Flo and Jamie is fun to read and provides many moments of hilarity throughout the book, but I would hesitate to say this is a true enemies to lovers book (in spite of the name). Their relationship largely hinges on a lack of communication rather than anything that would make them enemies.
I enjoyed the family dynamics at play - it felt good to see an adult family who enjoy spending time together and actually know each other well. So often, the order of the day is family drama and tension, so I always find it refreshing to see positive family relationships portrayed, even if there is the normal and natural underlying friction to deal with.
I also particularly appreciated the portrayal of mental health. The author's attitude to and understanding of anxiety felt like a warm hug. She tackled the situation with care and warmth, while never making it the main focus of the story. Showing the impact on the whole family was also a lovely touch.
All in all, I found this book to be warm, engaging and fun. A perfect summer read that entertains and doesn't take itself too seriously.

This book had everything I was looking for based on the cover, I got holiday vibes, a family drama and a fractious relationship between two people. I loved the setting, I felt like the descriptions were so beautiful, I could have been there with the family holidaying in Greece. I didn’t love all the characters though, there were a few I couldn’t like enough, and some I loved. I definitely felt the reception between Flo and Jamie was entertaining but could have been a bit more than what it was. This was a lovely light-hearted read, great for a beach read or if you fancy a holiday setting.

Loved this! A real feel good romance read. This was an easy read which was just what I needed and I enjoyed it so much.

A wonderful take on the classic enemies to lovers trope, with a sensitive and accurate portrayal of mental health, ups and downs and all.
What happens when the man you hate (but almost hooked up with) is your brother's best friend, and has been invited on your idyllic family holiday to Greece? Chaos, misunderstandings, a few close encounters, and a whole lot of repressed feeling.
The phrasing took me a little while to get into, but once I did I could picture myself in Flo's place, trying my best to make the most of an awkward as hell situation!

When one of your all time favourite tropes is the title of the book you can bet your beautiful ass I hit that netgalley request button faster than you can say brothers best friend.
This book was funny, swoon-worthy and has one of the *best* summer settings I have ever read. Honestly, I've looked up holidays to Greece twice since I've finished reading because it gave me the craving for a summer beach holiday so badly.
Flo recently suffered a breakdown. Her mental health took a battering, which ended up in her being hospitalised, but she's finally on the mend. Not wanting to cause herself any trouble, she sticks to the safe options and never rocks the boat. So when her brothers best friend, Jamie, turns up on the family holiday, it takes every ounce of Flo's willpower to keep things normal and not attract attention.
Flo & Jamie nearly had a thing at Christmas, but after he stopped it going any further with a conspicuous note slipped under her door, Flo has been furious at him ever since.
It was obvious from the start that there was attraction between Flo & Jamie but they avoided each other like the Plague. Of course circumstances throw them together but there's a lot of bickering, stink eyes and just plain hatred from Flo that Jamie cannot win. And then of course there's Adonis.. the literal Greek God, who gets in the way!
I will say, Flo's family drove me insane for a lot of the book, I think her sister in law and dad were the only characters who didn't make me mad at some point. Her brothers reaction to the whole thing was a childish mantrum.
The story is one huge romance cliché and I was LIVING FOR IT. Enemies to Lovers is literally the perfect holiday read for this summer, packed full of laughter, sunshine and heat - the good kind if you catch my drift 😌 you don't want to miss out!

A fun holiday read.
Flo Greenberg is looking forward to her Greek holiday. Her whole family is going and while she expects all of them, she didn't count on her brother's friend Jamie being included. They have a bit of history, and Flo is determined not to go there again. So how will two weeks in the sun work out for them?
This is a feel-good summer romance read. I worked out what was going on with Flo and Jamie quite quickly so it was just a matter of waiting until it all came out in the book. An enjoyable read with a much needed visit to sunny shores - it's been a wet summer here in Scotland and I enjoyed the escapism. 4*.
My thanks to the publisher for my copy via NetGalley; this is - as always - my honest, original and unbiased review.

This is the perfect summer read.
It was giving Emily Henry energy which I ate up with relish.
Classic romance, it had underlying tension and the book was a very easy read.
Loved it!

After suffering a breakdown, Flo's life had not been going too well. Just when it seemed like she was recovering, she's jilted by her brother's best friend and left feeling foolish.
She's dodged further family occasions, knowing that Jamie will be there.
Thinking that the family holiday to Greece will be a Jamie-free zone, she agrees to go.
To Flo's dismay, Jamie has been invited—after all, he's almost family. The holiday devolves into a back and forth of misunderstandings, hidden feelings, and secrets. I loved how the Enemies to Lovers cliché was played out.
I struggled to connect with the characters at first. The Greenberg siblings' attitude in front of their parents reminded me of how people would behave among friends or peers, rather than how they would act around their parents. Some of the moments did make me cringe.
I also found Flo's mother-daughter connection to be quite peculiar. They appeared to be very close in one sense, but I didn't like how Flo would continuously make comparisons to her mother and would always come up feeling inferior.
These were just the points at the start of the book that I wasn't so keen on.
But as I read on this book really grew on me and otherwise, this was a wonderfully easy summery read, I devoured it in just a few days!
Thank you to Hope @centurybooksuk for getting in touch and to @netgalley for the #gifted e-arc.

✨Enemies to Lovers✨
It has:
🏖️Holiday Destination
👄 Miscommunication
🤼Brothers Best Friend
☠️Enemies to Lovers
🏡One Room
❤️🩹Mental Health Representation
I really liked this one! I have been a fan of Laura's work for some time and I was so excited to receive an ARC from Netgalley💖
Flo (FMC) goes on holiday with her family to Greece when Jamie (MMC and Flo's brother's best friend) shows up to spend two weeks with her family. After having spent last Christmas together, with things ending awkwardly, Flo and Jamie haven't seen each other for months and Flo is both angry and upset that her holiday will no longer be relaxing with Jamie being there.
Over the two weeks, both Flo and Jamie are cold towards each other due to what happened last Christmas but over time, they realise they both still have feelings for each other and they eventually give in to their emotions and needs.
There are a lot of unsaid things between Flo and Jamie and they have both recently gone through difficult personal difficulties but it's clear they both care for one another deeply and there is a LOT of tension. I really enjoyed this one!💖
I like that the book spans over two weeks, there is a lot of mental health representation and the strong family bonds that are lovely to read about.
If you are looking for a cozy romcom with enemies to lovers, then this is for you!🤩🥇

A Greenberg family holiday, joined by the best friend of one of the sons. Flo and he had a "moment" at Christmas until he suddenly left. Now Flo has to face him again. Can mutual dislike turn to love? Wonderfully written to keep the reader's interest. Loved it.
