Totally page turning, gripping and thrilling! I read this book in a day because I just couldn’t put it down!

Amy jumps at the chance of a new role for Miles & June, and their two children, cleaning with the occasional help with the children. A clean break, just what she needs. Her new employers wonder if Amy is ok with just he remote their home is, but it’s absolutely perfect for Amy, as far away from her past as she can be, a roof over her head and a wage coming in.

But when things start happening in the small town, is there something more to this ideal little family? Or is Amy’s past catching up with her again?

Any is the main character in this story and we relive her past as she struggles with the present. All the relationships in this story were dysfunctional,I struggled to finish.

"Someone You Trust" proved to be a delightful read, characterized by its brisk pace and gripping narrative structure.

From the outset, the short, punchy chapters effortlessly drew me into the story.

While the premise—a grand mansion in a remote locale, a new nanny with her own secrets, and a family with hidden depths—may not have been groundbreaking, I found myself thoroughly engaged throughout.

The interplay between past and present timelines added an extra layer of intrigue, as I eagerly sought to unravel the connections between the two. The conclusion delivered a satisfying resolution, tying up the narrative threads in a manner that left me feeling content.

Overall, I found "Someone You Trust" to be an enjoyable read.

I extend my thanks to Netgalley and Little, Brown Book Group

Someone You Trust is a book you need to read!
It explores Amy's life flicking between past and present. She accepts a job as a live-in Nanny/Housekeeper for a family. When she arrives not all is as she expected.
At first, I was riveted by her present life and all that was happening but ultimately it was her past that kept me reading and desperate to know more.
A must read book that I would highly recommend.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publishers for the ARC

I really loved Ryan’s debut novel, HIDDEN LIES, (child talks to his imaginary friend but are they really imaginary?) so I couldn’t wait to read this one.

Chilling, unnerving + gripping, this was a super binge-able page turner at just over 250 pages, making it a super quick and exciting read. The plot switches between the past + present, as we unfold Amy’s mysterious, troubled younger years, and see her try to navigate a nanny job that’s not as straightforward as it seems. I was equally invested in both timelines and found them both pacy + addictive.

I didn’t love this quite as much as HIDDEN LIES, but I did read it in one sitting and would definitely recommend if you’re looking for a quick, thrilling, character-driven domestic thriller!

This is a different take on a suspense novel where both sides of the puzzle have something to hide. Amy arrives at the ultra modern home of June and Mike as a cleaner and part time child minder. The tiny village community is totally different to the city of Dublin she is used to. But Amy needs to escape her past. At first, the family appear to be content with their wealthy lives but cracks soon begin to emerge after the village is plagued by a series of crimes. Many villagers blame Mike's teenage son but what is really going on and will Amy's past catch up with her? This novel exceeded my expectations. An original plot that came eith several unforeseen twists.

Amy flees her old life, changes her name and gets a job as a nanny/housekeeper in the tiny village of Knockrea in Ireland. Strange things start happening around the village and all suspicion seems to point at the family’s introverted teenage son. Can Amy keep the low profile she’s desperate for? More importantly, can Amy keep her secrets hidden?

Aww, I loved this. In a really heartbreaking way. Amy’s story is just so believable. The author does a really good job with her flashbacks and the “before” sections.
Sensitive, and thought provoking at times, this book highlights the very real struggles of domestic abuse, whilst delivering a suspenseful thriller at the same time.
The “Why didn’t you leave?” chapter was incredibly emotive, and left a lump in my throat.

Many thanks to NetGalley and publishers for my advanced copy.

Wow!! So this is dark and completely filled with tension. You can feel the tension radiating off each page as the story progresses. It's perfectly plotted out with some really clever twists thrown in. The characters are well written with dimension and they're brought to life perfectly to make them believable and have you really wondering what people are capable of. I loved every second

The novel opens with Amy regaining consciousness, but the scene she wakes to is bloody and violent.

The story then jumps to 3 weeks earlier when Amy arrived at the Carroll’s house in an isolated area of West Cork. Amy is going to be the new live-in nanny for husband and wife, June and Miles, and children Tom, Poppy and Liam, the teenage recluse from Mile’s previous relationship.

We also learn that Amy fled her life in Dublin, but we don’t yet know why. The subplot flashbacks offer the reader snippets of Amy’s past life that slowly piece together the tragedies that Amy has faced since she was 14.

The way the author crafts the past, present and future to fit each other makes for a great story! The subplot of Amy’s life is tragic, while the main plot of her life at Sea View is jarring and uneasy. I enjoyed all aspects of this book.

The characters are diverse and each add to the story; how far will Mark go to get his own way? Can we trust Miles? Is the June we see the real June? Is Liam being honest or is he an expert liar? Will Catherine offer Amy a friendship she desperately needs? Will Amy always have to look over her shoulder or can she find peace?

One chapter in particular really makes you stop and think. Chapter 19 constantly repeats the question ‘why didn’t you leave?’ and agonisingly brings the reader through the thoughts of a victim of domestic abuse. It’s not an easy read, but it certainly is eye opening. Well done Rachel!

Amy jumps at the opportunity when she's offered a nannying job in picturesque West Cork. The assignment is for the Carroll family, whose stunning house is situated on a stretch of remote coastline. It's the perfect chance for Amy to start over - far away from her life in Dublin she is trying to escape. With two adorable children to oversee, a pair of generous employers and a lavish new home, everything seems wonderful. So why can't Amy shake a creeping sense of unease? Perhaps it's the husband's erratic behaviour. Or the strange messages that somebody has been painting around the local village. Quickly, it becomes clear that all is not well in the Carroll marriage, nor in their idyllic rural community. Whispered secrets and strange occurrences fill the breath-taking scenery with menace and, as the days pass, Amy realises that the refuge she has sought just might be the most dangerous place of all.
I loved it so much.

The build up from the perfect family into suspense and tension was really well done, especially with the amazing twists.

Amy's new job nannying for the Carroll family seems a great opportunity for moving out of her current circumstances and making a new start in a rural community far from Dublin.

But things are not as straightforward as they seem, and very soon Amy begins having doubts about her decision. The children are lovely, the parents charming, but something isn't adding up. What has she got herself into?

This is a fast-paced and suspenseful read that holds the reader's attention effortlessly. Recommended to those who enjoy psychological thrillers. It gets 3.5 stars.
