Still intrigued and I liked the character breakdowns throughout but still feel like this is being dragged out into a series for no reason. Not much really happened in this volume.

I thought the first volume of Gunhild was a highly enjoyable start to the series, but sadly the second one failed to pick up the momentum. The pacing was completely off and all over the place, the writing was confusing and I have no idea why exactly any of the plot even happened. Panels were again often too busy and thus disorienting; I just didn't have a good time while reading at all. I know I'm not the target audience, and I don't judge a comic book aimed at teens the same way as one aimed at adults. But kids and teens deserve well-crafted media, and that can be created for any age bracket and judged independently. It's a bummer that Gunhild lost its steam so early, I was really rooting for it to become a cool series.

Since this was an ARC, I also wanna mention that some text was missing (indicated with a big yellow MISSING box) and one chapter was still titled TBD. I don't know if my expectations for ARCs are too high, but I feel like giving out editions that don't include all of the text is not the move at this stage. I'm sad to see the series take such a nosedive so quickly; hopefully it can recover in the third volume.

Gunhild is trying to prevent Ragnarok, i.e. The Great Battle and subsequent perishing of the Gods and the End of the World, with the help of Loki, trickster god par excellence of Old Norse mythology.
The art style of this graphic novel is pretty amazing, clearly Manga-inspired yet conveying the Old Norse/Germanic mythology perfectly. I found the storytelling to be confusing at times, however, this is a cool addition to the superheroes/myth retelling graphic novel universe. 3,5/5 stars.

a worthy sequel to the first volume, which i happened to pick up last year. it was filled with just as much explosive action as its predecessor, with the stakes mounting higher against our protagonist. i loved the greater focus on the core stories that make up the mythology, now made better thanks to the superbly rendered character designs. with the volume once again ending on a cliffhanger, i will be eagerly awaiting the next chapter in the saga.

I am going to start this review by with say that I have a BA in Classical Civilizations and have loved mythology on a whole from the time I was 5. I got the first volume in this series out from the library and since finishing it have eagerly been awaiting the second volume so I was very happy to get the chance to read an Arc copy of volume 2 in exchange for an honest review.

This graphic novel takes Norse mythology and puts a fresh spin on it. The graphic novel is a great adaption of this pantheon of gods making them seem relatable and relevant to modern day readers. I could see this series being easily used in a class room of book group as a jumping of point to talk about Norse mythology. This is probably tied with the Magnus Chase series as one of the best adaptions of Norse mythology I have ever read.

The art work is dynamic, energetic and detailed. there are certain panels that I would love to print out and put on my wall!

If you have even a passing interest in mythology you should give this series a look!

I’m a bit confused on the target audience for this bc I was under the impression it’s 10+ but there was at least one swear word used.

I know this is an arc but I found it took me out of the enjoyment to keep coming across unfinished parts where text was missing etc.

This is a fun graphic novel with familiar characters from Norse mythology. The situations are dark, and the artwork is fantastic. In this story, Gunhild needs to save Loki, and he is hilariously grumpy. This book is a lot of fun.

Loved!!! I had such a fun time reading the newest adventures of Gunhild. I had the pleasure of meeting the author earlier this year and I’ve been sold on this series since. The art is gorgeous and I absolutely love the color palette. This manga series is great for those who love Marvel and Percy Jackson, I highly recommend to all ages!!

This is an edgier, more modern look at the Norse mythology with pretty dark, ominous artwork. It is rated Y for Youth and is suggested for ages 10 and up. However, I would recommend it for mid to high teens and up. As Norse mythology goes — I read better interpretations, but am glad for an opportunity to read and review this book.
