I found the writing style a bit clunky, i would of like to see more back story of Peter and Elena through the story.. It was a quick read , would like to read something more from the author to see if her writing style improves.

As for the story, the plot was ok but i felt rushed. Russians/poisoning/detectives all been done before,

This one is hard for me to rate.

I enjoyed Nia, but felt she was dealt too many bad hands over and over. It fell a little excessive. The story was interesting and it's a quick read. I found the twists to be fairly predictable, but that's okay too. I think there's a lot to like here. I'd like to have seen more character development of some of the side characters, but perhaps that will come later. I liked the story and I'm sure others will too.

I'm guessing there will be more books because several things are left unresolved.

I think the cover and the blurb, though, might need some tweaking. Nothing about this really felt haunted or hunted. Yes, there's some trying to find Peter but it's a fairly small part of the book. I didn't understand the haunted part, like maybe haunted by the sins of the past? But, that's Peter too and not really Nia. The roommate thing is part of the book, but fairly small when all was said and done and it was resolved by the mid-point of the book as was the mystery surrounding Peter. I didn't think the story was really about what the blurb discusses. If it were retooled to better match the contents of the book, I think people would have more concrete expectations of the story.

But, this is just one opinion. Thank you for the ARC.

This was a fun book! The characters were well developed and the story line was unexpected, I read it in 2 days. I cannot wait for Claire Phillips next book.

Ordinary life, ordinary girl. Until Today. Tedious job and vindictive housemate. So far so dull. Nia works in a café: dainty cakes on a doily and a glass of prosecco. Every day the same. When world-weary stranger, Peter falls into her life, Nia has no choice but to accept his job offer. But why is Peter so interested in Nia? Can she trust him? And if she’s as extraordinary as he says, how come her life is spiralling out of control?
This book had a bit of everything! UT had suspense, intrigue, action, murder, mystery, Russian mobsters, and some crazy twists and turns! The storyline was very interesting and kept me glued to my kindle! I definitely recommend reading this book as it was well worth reading! Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for sharing this book with me!
