Saffy, while waiting to go in to an interview, receives 3 messages from her best friend Leona. "Dont text...don't call...please just come". The messages are swiftly replaced by "This message was deleted. Saffy rushes out of her interview convinced her best friend is in danger.

She arrives at her house to find Leona acting normally, saying she didn't send the messages, but something doesn't sit right with Saffy. Six hours later Saffy gets a knock at her door, Leona and her family have gone missing and Saffy was the last person to see them.

This was a twisty thriller that I really enjoyed reading. I liked that it had various points of view from different characters as they told the story. As a fan of K.L. Slater this book definitely didn't disappoint.

My only criticism would be that I guessed one of the twists fairly early in the book, but it didn't change my enjoyment at all.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for allowing me to read this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This was such a page turner! I devoured this book in a day. I loved the alternate narratives and the relationships between the characters were really well explored. The plot kept me guessing and there were plenty of twists along the way. A really good thriller! Would definitely recommend!

Lots of twists and turns. Great plotting and kept me reading later at night than I should
.sinister, thrilling. Never knew what was coming next.

A great premise, and I loved the hook and early chapters. After that it was a little slow and clunky, kept me intrigued, but feels like it hadn't quite figured itself out.

Saffy is waiting to go into a job interview when she receives a text message from her best friend, Leona:

Can’t speak… don’t text or call… please just come.

I really wanted to love this book but I struggled with it, it was slow burn of a book

When Saffy receives a WhatsApp message from her bestfriend Leona asking Saffy to come quickly, Saffy drops everything and races round to her best friends home, when she gets there she is greeted with a stilted scene of domestic happiness. Saffy knows all is not well in her friends marriage and with her husband there she feels Leona cannot say what she really wants to and denies sending the message to Saffy. Soon after this event, Leona goes missing.....

Having loved K.L Slater’s previous thrillers, I was super excited for her newest release and with good reason! This book delivers so much more than I anticipated! Highly recommended.

Thank you to Netgallery and the publisher for this ARC. The publication date is the 18th July. Wow, what an amazing read! I raced through this book within 24 hours. I was gripped to my kindle as I was dying to know what would happen next. The plot was addictive with many twists and turns along the way.

My favourite character was Leona as I felt sorry for her as the book progressed. K.L Slater has done it again she writes such intriguing and gripping books that keeps the reader on their toes till the very last line.

I’d highly recommend everyone to read this book when it comes it was amazing! I’m already counting down the days till the next book is released.

Saffy receives a message from best friend Leona while preparing to go in to an interview. Soon after Leona is missing and so are the messages she sent.

I wanted to love this one, but even though I was suckered in by the synopsis, there wasn’t enough in this to keep me gripped. While not everything is completely predictable, there is a lot of typical ground covered and I felt it a bit dull.

Waiting to go into a job interview really isn't the ideal time at which to receive an urgent but cryptic message from your best friend begging you not to call her, but to go straight over.

Which is exactly what Saffy does. But bizarrely enough, once she gets to Leona's home, her friend denies all looked of the message, insisting that all is well - before disappearing from her bloodstained home, along with her daughter, barely a few hours later!

What on earth has happened here? Saffy isn't the only one who wants to know. The police are conducting an investigation into her friend's disappearance, and have her firmly in their crosshairs as a person of interest since she was the last to see Leona alive and well...

This was a moderately entertaining read but not Slater's best. The story something of a slow burn, and uneven in terms of pacing - also, more than a little far-fetched. The twist was good though!

many thanks to NetGalley, Michael Joseph, Penguin Random House, and K L Slater for my ARC of 'Message Deleted' in return for an honest review.

Having read all of this author's novels I was delighted to receive my advanced copy.

Saffy receives two Wattsapp messages from her best friend Leona begging her to come immediately. Safe is waiting for a job interview at the time. The messages disappear but Saffy goes anyway.

This begins a series of events with so many twists and turns involving Leona's current husband and former boyfriends, Poppy who is Saffy's sister and a search for the truth.

Although I enjoyed most of this storyline I did struggle in parts.

I had been waiting to read this for ages and I was delighted when I saw it was on Netgalley. This blew my mind a little once I realised what was going on and that wasn’t till really close to the end. Well worth a read if you are looking for suspense and to be left with no fingernails.

Firstly thank you Netgalley for giving me the chance to read this ARC book.
This was a slightly slow burner for me from start to finish. I once read a book by this author and I haven't found any as good since.
That doesn't mean this is a bad read but it didn't grip me like I'd hoped.
A good book but not their best but regardless I will be rating it 3

After looking forward to reading and reviewing this book, I have to say it was a struggle to read. I skimmed most of the last chapter. I'm glad I stuck with it and finished the book, but KL Slater has definitely done better. Thank you for the opportunity to read this one.

Thanks to Netgalley for the opportunity to read this book. I really enjoyed Slaters previous books & was looking forward to reaching it. I am sorry to say but I struggled with this book. The storyline dragged & the characters were weak & unlikeable. I just felt that this book wasn't up to her usual standards

We have all been there at some point our best friend needs us and we drop everything but what if when you get there they deny ever reaching out to you what would you do?
Saffy finds herself in this situation and what follows leads her to having to save herself and those closest to her.
You can always rely on K.L Slater to provide a good read and this is no exception,a strong storyline and characters that are hard to like until their stories unfold and you get to understand why they are like they are and with an ending that wasn't predictable I found this the authors best book so far.

Kim is one of my favourite authors, she delivers consistently every time. This is another good novel from her, not my favourite, it felt lacking somewhere. It was an easy read however. Full of Kim’s lovely, flowing writing style.

For me this book was just ok. The concept with the deleted messages was intriguing, but for me it never really lived up to its potential.

I'll start with what I did like - I thought the book was well paced and I was intrigued by the mystery of what had happened to Leona and her family. The ending was good and all loose ends were satisfactorily tied up.

The dialogue was dreadful, especially in the 'past' sections. An eighteen year old boy would absolutely never compliment someone on their 'groovy' jumpsuit. All of the dialogue was pretty bad, but I genuinely laughed out loud at that. Also, the timeline was all over the place. Saffy was described as being 32 and Leona 34, but they were in the same year at school? Also, Saffy went to the shop on a weekend and said that the children in the shop should be at school. I appreciate that I read an advance copy, so hopefully some of these issues will be ironed out before publication.

Overall, this was a very middle of the road book in my opinion. I did enjoy the story, but I don't think it will prove to be particularly memorable.

Saffy receives a text from best friend, Leona, asking for help. But as quickly as the text is sent it is then suddenly deleted. Leona insists all is fine and that there was no message but Saffy feels something is not right and later gets a knock on the door. Leona and her family are missing. Will they be found?

I found the synopsis of this one very intriguing and felt that I would be in for a twisty ride which turned out to be correct! I am ashamed to admit this is my first K.L Slater novel but it definitely will not be my last. I found the writing style engaging and enjoyed trying to work out what was going on, my mind kept changing. I found this was easily readable with an interesting storyline. The characters were well written but not wholly likeable. I found myself getting very frustrated at Saffy sometimes, wanting to shake some sense into her! Overall maybe slightly unbelievable but an entertaining, twisty thriller and I’ll definitely be looking at this author’s other books. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this copy in return for an honest review.
