⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ AMAZING i started this book and finished it the same day. Ex-girlfriend follows sadie and her husband ted and their 2 girls as they go away for a christmas break. Suddenly there is a knock at the door and his ex appears!!!
This book kept me on the edge of my seat and was packed with drama and plenty of twists and turns!!! Once i started it was hard to put it down!! The final twist at the end just WOW. This is the first book i’ve read by Rosie Walker but it certainly won’t be my last! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

My first recommendation is DO NOT READ THE SYNOPSIS OF THIS BOOK. I didn’t, thankfully, until after I finished it. The synopsis ruins some surprises that made this thriller as twisty as it is.

This is a family Christmas vacation gone so very wrong!

I didn’t really like any of the characters, but I don’t need to like them to enjoy the story. And the story was CRAZY!

I love how it begins with one crazy event, but then, like the slow unwrapping of the biggest Christmas gift, everything slowly unwinds to reveal so many crazy secrets, lies, and events! Everything you’ve ever wanted. Happy Holidays!!

I had no idea what to expect of this book as I’ve never read anything by this author before. Now, I can’t wait to read her other book (Baby Monitor)!

My second recommendation is to read this book.

Instagram review to come on May 4th for the Books on Tour.

3.5 stars for this thriller.

What initially sounded like a heart-pounding thriller, turned out to be exactly that. This was a fast paced psychological thriller book that didn't fail to include great plot twists.

We follow along from the perspective of Sadie. Her marriage is in pieces and she decides to book a secluded cabin for her and her family to spend over the Christmas holidays. They suddenly get a knock at the door from a woman and her child. The woman is a past girlfriend of Ted, Sadie's husband. All kinds of events spiral out of place and Christmas doesn't go as planned. Alice, the ex-girlfriend, appears to want to steal Ted away from Sadie for herself and Sadie isn't going down without a fight.

Throughout the whole book, I had ideas of what was going to happen next and was wrong every time. The plot headed in a total different direction than I had expected and satisfied my needs from a thriller. Almost all of the chapters ended in a cliff-hanger so it was impossible to put the book down even when I needed to go to bed. I really enjoyed this book and the pace of it all. There was a little bit of lead on sentences within the chapters that I felt would've been better left out of the book. Nonetheless, this is a book I would recommend to everyone who loves thriller books. It's that great, edge of your seat type of book that leaves you thinking about it long after you finish it.

Sadie and her husband Ted are hoping to work out their marriage by having a Christmas party at their highlands vacation home. However, while relaxing and celebrating, Alice, Ted's ex-girlfriend along with Alice and her daughter Natasha crashes into the party. Alice claimed that Ted sent a message to her on Facebook, inviting her to the Christmas party. Ted denies any of his involvement. Sadie tries to get the light of the situation but as the hours go by. Sadie realizes that Alice and Ted weren't entirely honest to her and that one of them is lying to her.

This was to me was an OK thriller. There was pacing in the book, although the first few chapters were slightly slow paced and boring. The writing was well and in the first few chapters, there was the sense of anxiety in the air. There were not much of twists or turns in my opinion but it wasn't really bad either. However, the middle of the book, things started to get interesting and the twist at the end was kind of unexpected which made the story more compelling and interesting to read.

The only thing I was confused about was if author forgot Sadie's initial feelings towards the beginning of the book and then towards the middle, her feelings suddenly changed to a drastic level. But other than that, this was a locked room mystery and you could really feel the tense atmosphere in the story while reading the book. Overall this book worth 3.5 starts.

Many thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for the ARC. The review is based on my honest opinion only.

I personally found this book difficult to read and to immerse myself in. The storyline was ok but unfortunately nothing stood out to capture my interest.

Unfortunately, I did not like this book. I will not be leaving a positive review of this book. I liked the premise, but was very disappointed by the lack of follow through. I am very sorry that I did not like this but I am sure other readers will love it, therefore, I will not post my review to social media or any review sites.

Thank you for the opportunity to review.

This started off strong and your thrown into the story from the first word and it builds momentum. Some aspects I found a little unrealistic and others predictable. The characters were likeable enough but I felt I didn’t really get to know Ted that well whereas Sadie is very much a well developed character. It’s a little drawn out when it comes to the pace of the storyline. I found the outcome and how it all came together a little bit of a blindside and it felt like it came out of nowhere. It was an ok listen but it did feel like the ending belonged to a different book.

Thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture Audio for the opportunity to listen to and review #ExGirlfriend

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Ex-Girlfriend by Rosie Walker is a total madhouse! This book is tense. This was a page-turner. This definitely is a thriller packed with twists! You will change your mind 100 times about who to trust! I don't know why but it felt way too much for me! It was like you wrap your head around something and the next minute it's something else and something else, and then even more! Every page seems to bring on a new development. Literally, my head is spinning! This was a wild ride! Seriously wild! I liked it but didn’t love it.

Sadie and Ted are ready for a family Christmas. They feel that a trip to Scotlands Woods would be a nice break for them to fill the cracks in their 12-year-old marriage. Unfortunitelly this Christmas will never be forgotten, this Christmas will become a nightmare for everyone!

It's a seriously good and busy thriller!

Thank you, NetGalley and Bookouture for this advance copy!

Rosie Walker's "Ex-Girlfriend" is like diving into a whirlwind of emotions, but in the best way possible. Through the eyes of Sarah, Walker takes us on a rollercoaster ride of love, heartbreak, and self-discovery. You can't help but root for Sarah as she navigates the messy aftermath of a breakup and embarks on a journey to find herself again. Walker's writing feels like chatting with a friend over coffee – it's honest, relatable, and hits you right in the feels. From the highs to the lows, "Ex-Girlfriend" keeps you hooked until the very last page, reminding us all that healing and growth often come from unexpected places. If you're looking for a read that's equal parts heartwarming and gut-wrenching, look no further than "Ex-Girlfriend." It's the perfect pick-me-up for anyone who's ever had their heart broken and lived to tell the tale.

Ex Girlfriend is an excellent read and the first book I’ve read by this author. It’s a domestic thriller and one which completely captivated me right up until the very last page. Of course I thought I knew how it was going to pan out but I will admit to being completely off track. The author takes you on a rollercoaster of a journey and I was left open mouthed at times. An unputdownable read with a great cast of characters.

Sadie wants to spend Christmas with her family in a remote cabin when suddenly her husband Ted's Ex Alice shows up and she wants to take what belongs to Sadie.

The book was very easy to get into but I couldn't really connect with it or the characters. I honestly can't really say why that is, there wasn't anything in the book which I would say has bothered me so that I didn't connect with the characters.

I still enjoyed it, even though the twist didn't hit as hard as it would have had I been fully immersed.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC**

Stuck in a storm in the Scottish Highlands with your husband's ex girlfriend and her child--No thanks. But that's exactly what happens to Sadie our FMC. I was invested in this story from start to finish and wanted to scream at the characters through the pages. The chapters were longer than I liked and it dragged a bit at times. Overall a great story full of twists you would never see coming.

I’d like to thank Bookouture and NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read ‘Ex-Girlfriend’ written by Rosie Walker in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.

Sadie, Ted and their two daughters arrive at the rented house in Scotland hoping for a relaxing Christmas holiday with their respective parents. Then Ted’s ex-girlfriend Alice and her daughter Natasha arrive unexpectedly and it’s clear that Alice wants Ted back and she’s willing to do whatever is necessary to lure him away from his family. Sadie wants Alice to leave but as the storm gets worse with the road underwater, she realises that their unwanted guests are staying for the foreseeable future.

‘Ex-Girlfriend’ is a dark psychological thriller with characters whose personalities are not particularly likeable and a plot that changes with each twist and turn making it difficult to know who to trust. It’s well-written, full of suspense, and grabbed my attention from page one. The concluding twist comes as a shock and isn’t what I was expecting and although there’s a fair amount of repetition that isn’t necessary it’s a good sound novel with tension and drama that pulled me in so I couldn’t stop reading.

Sadie and Ted need some family time and a perfect Christmas after going through what they describe as a “speed bump” in their relationship. Heading off to a secluded cabin with their two young daughters, everything seems perfect until there is an unexpected knock at the door.

Ted’s ex, Alice with her daughter, Natasha.

How did they know that Sadie and Ted were there and why have they come?

I was totally hooked and as the tension built and the secrets all emerged, Alice dropped a massive bombshell putting them all in danger, and then a storm rolled in. Brilliant! Totalling gripping and twisty right up until the very end!

4 ⭐️ Thanks to Netgalley, Rosie Walker and Bookouture, for an ARC in return for an honest review.

It’s not often that I read a book were the negatives out way the positives.

I found the whole book repetitive and messy. The characters were unlikable, especially, Sadie.

I’ve read other reviews and am glad it has a lot of high scoring ones as it’s not often I write a negative review.

Thank you for the opportunity to read this ARC

What a great read 🥰 I did not see this ending coming. No spoilers from me but Wowzer - sucker punched when I least expected it.

Sadie and Ted are off to spend the perfect family Christmas together with their daughters and parents……. That is until the ex-girlfriend turns up !!

If you do one thing this week ….. order this book. You won’t regret it.

@rosiejanewalker what a book! Thank you. And thank you @netgalley for allowing me to review.

This has all the ingredients of a great domestic thriller and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The setting in the Scottish Highlands in a storm is described beautifully and dramatically heightens the tension. Yes, there are some conversations and plot twists that stretch credibility, but for me, these didn’t detract from a great story that had me flipping pages well into the night. It’s fast-paced, easy to read and I look forward to reading more by this author.

Thank you to Bookouture, Netgalley and Rosie Walker for the opportunity to read this advance
