I've followed Estelle's career from the beginning and with each book she just gets better and better. Her writing is charming and loveable, and it's so easy to lose yourself in her stories, they're so fun and romantic. 'Somewhere in the Sunset' is her first new adult title and it feels like it has been a long time coming! Estelle is also a star at building hype for her books - the amount of times I've checked her Instagram for updates is wild.

Gracie and Weston juxtapose each other so much, but their chemistry is sizzling hot, even if they refuse to acknowledge it for a while. But the ending: absolute whiplash! I wasn't ready for it at all! It's going to divide readers, for sure. Still, I look forward to her next release.

An emotional read, especially the ending which I was not expecting. I liked how it was from both points of view but wish it had a different ending.

This is tough for me because it’s been ages since I gave a book a one star rating. And, unfortunately today seems to be the day. I have had read recommended other works of this author, and I still do. But, grudgingly I have to admit I didn’t like this book. And in my opinion, it shouldn’t be shelved merely as a romance rather women fiction or fiction. However, I hope other folks like it much more than I personally did.

Somewhere in the Sunset by Estelle Maskame
Rating: 3/5
Tropes: Strangers to lovers, opposites attract, lessons in love.

Somewhere in the Sunset follows the story of Gracie and Weston, both of whom find themselves spiralling after long term relationship break ups. We watch them navigate what it is to be independent and what it is to love themselves first before ever thinking of loving anyone else.

The characters were so relatable and normal. So many times I watched them make decisions that I, as the layman, would have taken myself instead of the normal route that most romance writers believe their characters need to go.

The hug scene in the beginning of the book *chefs kiss*. Her jumping into his bed and needing to be held *chefs kiss* The end… just a flat out disaster.

This book was so good until the last 10%. I wanted to rate it higher, but the ending just fell so incredibly short and flat for me. I mean why? Can anyone just answer that for me? Why would you end a really good book like that? So much potential, but all we’re left with is a wham, bam, thank you ma’am. We’ve been left devastated by the author, and not in a good way.

Unfortunately, I do not recommend this book and will not be looking at reading any of this authors further works.

Thank you to NetGalley and Black and White Publishing for this ARC in exchange for an honest and fair review.

This book broke me and had me crying into my pillows in the early hours of the morning as I finished it. Estelle has this gripping and amazing way of storytelling that I cannot help but devour, resulting in me reading this book in one sitting. I could not put it down and I didn't want to.

Our two main characters have gone through a lot in their lives and now find themselves heartbroken as their respective relationships fall apart. They are two completely different people but I love the way their relationship blossoms. The journey these two go on is such a tough but wonderful one and I loved seeing how good they were to each other. Gracie and Weston are such relatable and realistic characters that really resonate with you.

This book isn't just about the romance, it's about healing, finding yourself and taking chances. While this was a beautiful book be warned it doesn't exactly have the happily ever after you expect. This book was at times so heart-breaking and one I know will sit with me for a long time!

Thank you so much to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Very well written, with relatable characters and well-constructed dialogue resulting in a very engaging — but also satisfying — storyline ⭐⭐⭐⭐

I wanted to love this, I really did and I was so excited to see Estelle take on a new genre, however this story just wasn't what I had expected. The way it has been promoted is to be quite sexy and bold, however the story we get is one filled with a lot more depth which isn't a bad thing, it just doesn't match up to what readers are being offered. Whilst this story is spicy, it was more focused on two people moping/getting over their previous partners and finding comfort in one another. If I've estimated this correctly, we get about 20% of the book where feelings between Gracie and Weston start to develop into something further than just comfort and all of that is taken away with a plot twist I hadn't expected, nor did I believe fit the story at all. Just to clarify, this book should not be labelled as a romance. I'm trying to be really gentle with this review because I love Estelle and I absolutely adore her previous books, so my review is not to be hurtful in any way. I love Estelle as a YA author, I think that's where her writing skills and talent really shine, however this is the first book in a new genre and there's going to be hurdles and a lot to learn, to separate from being a YA author and I am still really excited to see what Estelle has next and to keep supporting every book she releases, whether I get on with it or not. This all being said, I still absolutely flew through this book within 24 hours and with the right reader, it is a fun and beautiful story of two right people finding each other, just at the wrong time.

This is a review that includes spoilers.

I was enjoying this until the last twenty pages - it wasn’t too serious, cute premise, terrible sex scenes but that's not totally unforgivable. I ignored the insta love because it was a page turner and I saw potential. That was a massive mistake.

The ending was completely nonsensical. What do you mean he died in the line of duty as a cop so that she could move on and go travelling and profit off his death on the internet!!!?!?! The intense pro cop stuff appeared absolutely out of nowhere.

Putting aside the fact that I just didn't like the narrative decisions, the last chunk of the book got too heavy too quickly. The shift in tone was jarring.

I also thought that Luca's character was odd. Not because don't behave that way once they're not getting anything from you anymore, but making him remorseful and apologetic at the end? A tasteless decision, in my opinion.

A really disappointing read.

I absolutely love Estelle Maskame. I think, she is so talented and all her books are just so good! I’m so excited for this one. I love the contrast between our two mains and I love how they help pull one another out of the darkness, a sexy bad boy definitely with tattoos with definitely do that, haha! JK. I love the heart, great storyline, and meaning behind this book. I look forward to sharing much more soon. I apologize as I am coming off the back of some major health issues but I know Estelle’s book will be the best treat.
