This is a 2nd chance love story.

Maya's first love, Cameron, enlisted in the Army to set a path of his own, not one his wealthy parents want for him. When Cameron comes to see her after basic training, they spend a week of bliss together. But when Cameron springs marriage on Maya before he's supposed to be deployed, she panics. Cam loses her temper and walks away from her without even a goodbye.

Five years later, Maya works on Wall Street and she runs into her old friend/roommate, Cam's sister, Olivia. Liv never forgave Maya for her brother's multiple deployments. When Liv tells her brother that she saw Maya, he desperately wants to reconnect with her. He never stopped loving her and regrets the way he walked away from her years ago. But Maya is a completely different person today.

Cam doesn't realize how his actions really affected Maya back then. She's a shell of the woman she once was. But he keeps pushing to get to know her better despite her many walls.

Can he revive the love that they once cherished? Or is he too late?

3.5stars--ON MY KNEES is the first instalment in Meredith Wild’s contemporary, adult BRIDGE erotic, romance series focusing on the Bridge siblings: Cameron, Darren and Olivia. This is gym owner Cameron Bridges, and twenty-five year old, Wall Street Analyst Maya Jacobs’ story line.

NOTE: Due to the nature of the story line premise, there may be triggers for more sensitive readers.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Maya and Cameron) ON MY KNEES follows the second chance relationship between our story line couple. Approximately five year earlier, Cameron Bridge proposed to his long time girlfriend Maya Jacobs but Maya refused, pushing away the man that she loved. Fast forward to present day, Maya comes face to face with Cameron Bridge, and in the ensuing aftermath, Maya continues to spiral with memories from the past. All is not well in our heroine’s life, and in this, the fall-out threatens her relationship with everyone going forward.

The world building focuses on the rekindling romance but Maya struggles with many issues including threats and manipulations at work, late night binge drinking that threaten her own safety, and secrets she refuses to reveal to the man she still loves. Maya’s take on their original break up differs greatly from Cameron’s view and heartbreak, and in this, Maya continues to place the blame on everyone else.

The relationship between Cameron and Maya is one of second chances but Maya doesn’t do relationships, and in this, her attitude lies somewhere between spoiled child and angry teen. Maya’s personality and temperament leave something to be desired, and her ongoing reactions and perspective on life, place her in the direct line of fire for all sorts of threats and heart break. The $ex scenes are intimate.

We are introduced to Cameron’s siblings : firefighter Darren, and sister Olivia, as well as their embittered and controlling parents Frank and Diane; Maya’s roommate Eli; friend Vanessa, and co-workers Jia and Dermott.

ON MY KNEES is a story of secrets and lies; power and control, betrayal, acceptance, family and love. The premise is engaging and dramatic; the romance struggles in the face of perceived betrayal; the characters are desperate and broken but from the outset of the story, Maya’s overall mindset, behavior and reactions are questionable at best, and unlikable most of the time thereby making it a struggle to enjoy the read.

I always love a book about second chances and redemption and setting things right. This one has it all - a sexy and understanding hero in Cameron and Maya, who is trouble, but does her best to act with integrity, even if it costs her everything. A great story!

Where do I start with this book! I don't usually like books where one of the characters are continually pushing the other away, but darn if this story didn't have a great storyline. Lots of chemistry between Maya and Cameron, but lots of angst too. Your heart goes out to both of them with their history of being in love and then losing each other for 5 years. Loved the writing in this book, definitely kept my interest, and the secondary characters played nicely in the story. Definitely a page turner and definitely worth the read.

I voluntarily reviewed an ARC copy of this book.

This book was not my favorite, the beginning of the book kind of made me annoyed with our main character Maya right away, it got better from the in the perspective of second chance romance but overall this book was lack luster to me. It was not terrible and I can see people thoroughly enjoying it, but I’m not one of those people unfortunately,

Loved reading the entertaining and engaging romance story. After five years, Cameron wants to reconnect with Maya, but Maya is afraid Cameron will hurt her again, and Cameron is hesitant; yet, Cameron wants Maya in his life again. Read the highly recommended, wonderfully written, and a must read riveting love story by the amazing and awesome author, Meredith Wild.

Not sure why I waited until this year to read this book. It was pretty good. Loved Cameron and Maya. No spoilers. I received a free copy of this book NetGalley and I am voluntarily leaving a review.

This happily ever after story was laced with so much sadness that it's not for someone looking for a bright rom-com. The author has done a fantastic job and hence we could feel the heaviness all along the story. Though Maya was portrayed to be struggling with a lot of baggage in her life, somehow it missed to hit the mark emotionally. I felt something was lacking. Also the second chance for Maya and Cam felt a little rushed and seemed to be relying only on the steamy part. Going with a 3-star.

Book One in The Bridge Series,
an absolute must read. Fell in love with characters and story pretty quick.
Blurb:
Haunted by the responsibility of caring for her family, Maya Jacobs gave the only answer she could when Cameron asked her to marry him. Years later, entrenched in a soulless routine, she distracts herself from the lingering regret of her decision with a lifestyle that guarantees no man will ever find his way into her heart again.
Cameron Bridge has spent the past five years in the military, trying to escape the painful memory of losing Maya. After fighting his own war in the desert, he starts a new life in New York City, with his siblings, Olivia and Darren, by his side.
When fate brings Maya back to him, can Cameron find the girl he once loved in the woman she’s become?

I received an arc from NetGalley and this is my honest opinion.

Wow this was a hot and steamy second chance romance with a HEA ending. The heart wrenching beginning and the road to finding each other again will motivate you to read more.

Can’t wait for Darren and Vanessa’s story and the boss and employee sparks that will fly there.

What a heartbreaking, angsty 2nd chance for Cameron and Maya! This one broke my heart for both Cameron and Maya and their journey sure was full of potholes. The love was there but was always just out of reach for one reason or another. If you love sad, angsty, all of the feels romance then be sure to grab this one!
