This story follows Emelia, a human who is heir to the vampires. Due to the risk of being a human amongst vampires, Kyle is assigned to be her body guard. While Emelia contemplates excepting her fate or leaving to live another life she falls for her body guard. I did enjoyed this book, however it wasn’t too high fantasy. It is an easy to read and fast paced with plenty of twists and not too much world building. If you’re looking for an entry to romantasy definitely give this a go!

I could not finish this book because the FMC and her bodyguard both fell flat for me. I needed more depth from her and I didn't understand their weird, mean to each other but attracted to each other relationship. Not for me.

Emelia Ravens is the sole heir to the House of Ravens, in a world ruled by vampires. But there’s one thing different about her… She’s human..
When a new guard is tasked with protecting her, she learns to open up to him about not wanting to be heir. She wants to be free and live among humans. Can she trust Kyle and can she convince him of her plan?
A rebellion is coming… Emelia may find danger where she least expects it.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Where do I start.. I was blown away by this novel and became hooked with wanting to know what would happen next!
At first, I had difficulties at the start because I dislike the guard but I did continue on and am so happy that I continued!
I loved Emelia so much and understood how she felt to feel different. She definitely made me proud towards the ending at how you can be different but be strong!
Thank you so much NetGalley, Helen Glynn Jones, and HarperCollins UK for the chance to read and review this e-arc in exchange for an honest review! All thoughts and opinions remain my own.

This sadly just wasn't a book for me.
The premisie was interesting, however, I was put off by the romance being very insta-love & I found the writing quite clunky. At times it felt like actions were almost bullet pointed.
Because of the above I just couldn't get into the book as much as I had hoped.

The Last Raven by Helen Glynn Jones is a rollercoaster of suspense, dark secrets, and jaw-dropping twists that kept me turning pages late into the night! From the first chapter, I was hooked. Jones has a real knack for pulling you right into the thick of things, and her characters are complex and so well-drawn that you feel like you know them (and maybe wish you didn’t!).
The plot unfurls with such clever pacing, keeping you guessing and second-guessing where it’s all headed. Just when you think you’ve got it all figured out – bam! – Jones throws in a twist that leaves you reeling. It’s like being led down a dark hallway with only a flickering candle, each page casting just enough light to keep you going but never enough to reveal the whole picture.
This book is a must-read for anyone who loves a good psychological thriller with an emotional punch. Huge thanks to NetGalley – The Last Raven is one you don’t want to miss!

"When I was born, my father tried to kill me."
Wow. Great hook because I was immediately curious and wanted to keep reading to find out why. The blurb gave me From Blood and Ash vibes (I love Poppy and Casteel!!) and I was excited to start this book. The premises are similar, the FMC is someone of "power" and the MMC is a guard. Emilia and Kyle's relationship was marketed as enemies-to-lovers but it was very very brief. They were kinda instantly attracted to each other?? There also wasn't much spice and I couldn't really feel the romance but I think it will definitely be more developed in the next book. Some of the premises were confusing (why is Emilia the heir when's she so young AND a human??) but again, I'm hoping it'll be explained in the next book. Overall, I think it was a light read that sets the scene for upcoming books.

This books was great! I absolutely love the cover. It is one of my favorites of the year. And the story was great! I loved the main couple together!

Tropes: Vampire x Human, Forbidden romance, forced proximity, Bodyguard
Emilia is a human in the world of vampires and heir to the Raven throne. She is supposed to have coronation on her 18th birthday but she is reluctant to take Raven crown and making a plan to escape to human world. Kyle is appointed as her personal bodyguard in view of growing tensions between vampires and humans.
I enjoyed reading this book as it fast paced and engaging, but I can’t say I loved it though. The world building is confusing like why a 500 vampire couple has an only daughter who is a human ? Emilia & Kyle connection seems to be instant but the fact that the author sprinkled an enemies trope for a bit baffled me which didn’t even last a chapter and they made up.
While all the plot happened in last 5 chapters seemed rushed to me. The betrayal cut deep but it is kinda predictable.
However I am curious to see what Emilia does next !

This book had a unique plot, but the execution was not well done. I do look forward to reading book two, I just wish the pacing was better. I thought the character's arcs were unjustified and fell flat.
However, I look forward to seeing where Emelia and her love interest go next. Thank you HarperCollins UK, one chapter for the arc in exchange for an honest review. I wish the author much success.

this was enjoyable. i liked it and i liked emelia. I wish the world could’ve been a bit more explored upon because with such a cool setting more world building would’ve tied this entire thing together. I’m not going to spoil about the plot twist because it had me shocked half to death. I found Emelia’s inner monologue to be so funny though, she’s such an interesting character.
“That’s sad. I remind myself what a bitch she is. And the fact she’s basically condemned me to death. Actually, you know what? Fuck her.”

4 Stars 🌟🌟🌟🌟

So, at first, I was a little sceptical about reading this book. Looking at the reviews, I was worried I would not like it as there are a lot of comments about insta-love. And it does indeed have insta-love, but let me tell you, it is needed and I believe intentional by the author for the last 30 percent of the book when everything starts to unravel and there is a plot twist. Our main female character definitely starts off as a bit juvenile and a tad annoying; however, she comes into her own by the end of the book, and you see how the world she is faced with changes her for the better. This was a super quick read for me, and I really enjoyed it, and AGAIN I emphasise that all is not what it seems. I'm excited to see where the author goes with this and will definitely be picking up the next book 🙌
Thank you to @harpercollinsuk @onemorechapterhc and author @helenglynnjones for the early ARC copy through netgalley, I very much enjoyed this book and much appreciate the opportunity to read this one early.

I heard the word vampires and ran!
This was a nice fall read, gothic and vampires all in one.
Theirs love, betrayal, growth and so so much more!
My only real complaint and it’s not against this book but books in general is I just wish once the fmc was a little older especially when dealing with vampire/other immortal types. So all in all the book was really good!

Before I get into this review, can we please just take a moment for this stunning cover!?
Now that, that is out of the way, I loved the blend of ancient and modern times in this book. One moment you're in an ancient realm, all dark passages and ancient gowns, and then the next thing you know, you’re thrust into a modern world, and suddenly there are cellphones and modern technology.
The rich mix of human and vampire characters adds incredible depth to the already captivating story. AND THAT PLOT TWIST!? Was it the most shocking plot twist? No, but dang, I was still in shock when it happened!
I loved the pacing of the romance in this one, I think the characters meshed well together and you could clearly see that in the way they reacted and spoke around and towards each other. I only wish there was a little more tension between the two, but other than that I absolutely adored the romance.
I highly recommend this one to those who love vampures in their fantasies!
Thank you to NetGalley, the publishers, and Helen Glynn Jones for providing me with an e-ARC in exchange for an honest review! I am eagerly awaiting the sequel!

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this eARC.
The Last Raven follows Emilia Raven who is the sole heir to the vampire throne because of her family. The only problem is, she's human. And in a world where humans are highly looked down upon, that is very dangerous. when a new guard is assigned to her care, Emilia sees her way out. Emilia must decide if she wants to stay and accept her fate, or leave and live the life she desires.
This book is pitched as a hot forced proximity paranormal romance. HOWEVER, it was not hot and quite honestly ended up not even being a romance. I didn't like the "plot twist" whatsoever, and can't imagine the rest of the series would be any better.

The Last Raven follows Emilia, a human living amongst vampires, set to rule the House of Ravens as soon as she turns 18.
I thought the premise of this book was super interesting and couldn’t wait to dive in. The main character Emilia had a great arc. I found her to be incredibly naive and slightly irritating at first, and then remembered, well yeah, she’s only 17. I feel like the author really captured her age and inexperience well in the first part!
The last 30% of the book was full of twists and turns that I was not fully expecting - love when a book isn’t predictable! Emilia also really comes into herself and starts growing up and making better decisions, making her much more likable.
Overall I thought it was an entertaining read, and would be interested in continuing the series to see what happens next!
Thank you to HarperCollins UK, One More Chapter and NetGalley for the ARC!

This is fast becoming my new obsession! I loved every single second of it! I cannot wait to see where this goes

I just finished this book and I rate it 5/5 stars! I absolutely loved this book and couldn’t put it down. The Last Raven is book one in The Ravens series and I can’t wait for the rest of the series. As soon as I read the synopsis I was hooked. Emelia is a human in a world ruled by vampires. The Last Raven is releasing January 14 2025. Thank you so much to HarperCollins UK, One More Chapter, Netgalley and Helen Glynn Jones.

Well! i was not expecting that to be as good as it was! absolutely amazing and probably one of my favourite books so far. You really really have to give it a go!

A human daughter of vampires falls for her body guard amid a growing rebellion which threatens both her safety and her future as heir to her family's empire. I enjoyed this book but it definitely felt more YA than I'd expected and I'd also have like a bit more depth to the romance which went from enemies to lovers to besotted love in the blink of an eye. Despite this, I'd say it's a good one to pick up if you fancy something that engages you quickly, is easy to read and fast paced with plenty of twists and not too much world building.

The vampires and lore are interesting and the concept was so unique. It was a bit predictable but I didn’t mind. The only reasons I didn’t give this a higher rating was because I found the character to be naive and repetitive. I understand she’s supposed to be like that as a teen but the fact that her best idea, as a human, was to go to the human camps and live there when she is the next heir and could change things for humans was ridiculous. She kept repeating the same things about her situation to the point it was annoying and would bore me. I also found the parents, particularly the mom, to be so naive especially when it was so obvious who was behind the attacks. The plot twist at the end was predictable but also shocking, I just wish the boy at the end had shown a bit more chemistry with the FMC when they first met.
I’m not sure if I would recommend this book but I do invite people to read it if they think they might like it.
Thank you to the author, HarperCollins UK, and NetGalley for this e-ARC and audiobook
