Cute book that can be read or sung along with the rhyming pattern of “Here We Go Round the Mulberry Bush”. It focuses on dogs getting up, eating, going to school, getting ready for bed etc. The pictures are very cute. The rhyming is catchy and I can see this being enjoyed by preschoolers or very young readers.

Originally published in the UK in 1988, this engaging picture book is a variation on the nursery song “Here We Go Round the Mulberry Bush.” The setting is a town filled with various breeds of dogs, living in houses, and going through their day getting ready for school and work, performing daily activities, and finally getting ready for bed. The detailed cartoon artwork was achieved using watercolor, gouache, pencil, and collage, depicting dogs wearing human clothing as they go about town. Although the rhyming chant can be a little awkward at times, the repetition and chanted actions, such as “brush, brush, brush,” make this a great choice for storytime.

I found it very hard to rate children's books so everything is a 5 star read for me!!
I really loved this book, the illustrations are so beautiful and captivating that I found myself smiling through every page I read.
The story itself is very beaitiful and inspiring <3

There isn't much of a story to it. It's mostly a fun little book to sing along to, with vibrant colours for very young children. Cute illustrations, but very surface-level in terms of content.

So are we suppose to sing this book? Because it will be weird if we just read this book. A bit disappointed of the content but I give this book 4 stars because of the amazing artwork.

This is an adorable picture book. It is easy and fun to read, with lots of different things to notice and talk about in the illustrations. Using the familiar tune, readers follow dogs throughout their day as they wake up, go to school, come home, and eventually go to bed. This would be a sweet book for any child - especially one who will soon be going to school or daycare for the first time.

In 'This is the Way in Dog Town,' young children learn what dogs in Dog Town do during the day. This book is set to the familiar melodious rhyme, 'Here We Go Round the Mulberry Bush.' This familiar tune will help children follow the activities of a Dog family as they get dressed, brush their teeth, go to school, do their work, play a game, eat lunch, paint a picture, go swimming, go home, eat dinner, take a bath, and go to bed.

This book is both written and illustrated by Ya-Ling Huang. Using watercolor and colored pencils, Ya-Ling's hand-drawn illustrations have a transparent look with layers of color.

"This is the way we paint a picture, paint a picture, paint a picture.

This is the way we paint a picture, in the afternoon."

Splat,

splat,

splat!

This picture depicts various breeds of dogs sitting, lying, and standing around a room, including bulldogs, poodles, and collies. In the corner, the teacher wipes the sweat off of his forehead with a cloth. There is a dog painting a wall. Several dogs hold up pictures of their artwork while smiling. A dog is laughing while holding a paint brush and a can of spilled paint at his feet. A second group of dogs is creating art. Another dog sits with a palette of paint colors. The room is a complete mess! Nonetheless, the dogs are having a lot of fun.

It's such a cute book. Toddlers and preschoolers will love this book. You should check it out.

Dog town is just like our town, and dog has to do everything I have to do!

After reading the book you can use the song to encourage reluctant children to brush their teeth, go to school, have a bath etc.

Cute book but nothing really new, but I'm sure the kids will love it especially the song.

Vastly detailed and friendly artwork. Rhythmic writing inspires a variety of song-like reading. Emphasises repetition that emits a playful tone. Depicts the importance of routine and daily life. Light narrative that is clever and effective. Engaging characters that have a humorous side to them. Silly atmosphere that leaves no room for seriousness. Overall, a great read.

Very funny pictures in the book, but the story wasn't really anything I can tell much about because there was little text and a lot of repeating text.

Because I read the book in under 10 minutes, I didn't even put it on my Reading Challenge.

Too bad though, because I thought this could have been a wonderful book.

This is an adaptation of The Wheels on the Bus and This is the Way We Do nursery rhymes. The artwork is incredible! The style is authentic, innovative and cute. The situations described in the images and words are relatable, easy-to-understand, diverse, and accessible. A very entertaining and educating addition to the children’s books, especially preschooler books library. Enjoyed the book plenty.

My son really enjoyed this sing along book about a day in dogtown! He'd wait for each new page and loved the little action words.
Cute pictures and the words flow well when singing the song. This will be well read over and over again!

This book will definitely be a hit for the pre-school/kindergarten set. The familiarity of the song, with the relatability of the daily life, and the cuteness of the dogs is a perfect recipe for an excellent classroom read-aloud.

The illustrations in this picture book are absolutely adorable. They are detailed, engagingand gently colorful. They will be enjoyed by both kids and adults.

For dog, toddler or pre-schooler could be substituted. There is a simple story with rhyming words that goes through some of what might happen over the course of a little one’s day.

This title offers an enjoyable quick read for the youngest children and their adults. It is a book that may well be looked at more than a few times.

Many thanks to Quarto Publishing Group and NetGalley for this title. All opinions are my own.
