This was my first book by this author . The plot sounded great and it started off pretty good but then it just got too complicated with to many characters and a storyline that was all over the place. I couldn’t get interested in any of the many characters in the book and had great difficulty following the story. This book just wasn’t for me. Thank you to NetGalley, Evie Hunter and Boldwood Books for the opportunity to read and review this ARC. ⭐️⭐️⭐️

I was attracted by the cover and the storyline and really looked forward to this read, but it didn't quite deliver for me. Freya Addison has taken up a job as hostess on the luxury yacht Perseus, owned by rich businessman Julien Falcon. Falcon is a horrible character - arrogant, vicious and crooked. The story begins in the South of France when guests come aboard for a trip to Ibiza. Julien has no idea that Freya is on board to exact revenge for the death of her younger sister Polly. Little does she know there are others on board who also have issues with him.
This was one of those straightforward reads, well written but for me, it lacked real suspense. There were moments when I felt Freya would be discovered, but she seemed to have nine lives and slip out of danger quite easily. I thought both Freya and Captain Greg Larson's characters lacked depth and could have been developed more beyond just being attractive people. Julien was the best written character in the book - the archetypal boy from the backstreets who had made his money by dubious means. A truly nasty individual, he used people and threw them away - as he had Polly - in the most horrific way. His take down did not materialise as I thought it would, but overall I thought the story was entertaining..
I would like to thank Boldwood, the author and Netgalley for an ARC of The Take Down in exchange for an honest review

I was looking forward to The Takedown and the plot of Freya working on a superyacht was appealing. However, the reality was that I didn't find the yacht visual at all and could not imagine the surroundings.

I did like Freya and Gloria but I didn't like Greg or Chelsea. There were too many characters and there was too much goung on. It just felt chaotic.

The writing style was overly wordy and I could not get into the book. I tried, but it was a DNF for me.

Thanks to Evie Hunter and Boldwood Books for my eARC in exchange for an honest and voluntary review.

A good story though needed to separate the story lines a bit more so they weren’t all together. It did have a good message for anyone out there who likes to upset a lot of people and take advantage of others so I really liked that part.

This is my first read by Evie Hunter. The Takedown was a very slow start but picked up and was quite interesting. Money, deceit and revenge are some key elements in this story. Everyone has a motive but who gave Falcon what he deserved. Money and greed often leave to downfall. Highly recommend. Thank you NetGalley and Boldwood Books for the opportunity to read this book.

The Takedown is a book that keeps you on your toes! Freya takes a job as hostess on a luxury yacht owned by Julien Falcon who is used to using people and getting his own way. He is a nasty piece of work who ruins lives. Freya wants revenge for what he did to her sister and it seems that she isn’t the only person on board who wants Falcon to pay for what he has done. No one is who they seem and as the story develops each character’s story and why they’re on board is explained. I actually liked most of the characters and found that I could easily imagine them and the locations. This was fast paced and just when I thought I had it sussed another layer was unpeeled. A thoroughly enjoyable read that although I had my own theories I couldn’t be sure of the outcome. Thanks to Boldwood Books and Netgalley for the ARC

In The Takedown we explore the glitz and glamour of being rich through lies and deceit. Freya has taken a job aboard a yacht but it isn't the job she is after, it is revenge in it's most sneaky form. The more I read the more invested I became and I was wanting to get involved. The plot is gloriously built up to a explosive ending. I actually really liked the characters as they play there parts well and are just what you expect. The revenge is addictive and I could feel Freya's need to enact it through the tips of my fingers. It gets to you in a way that you feel like you want revenge for yourself! The glamorous lifestyle on the yacht is one I could picture and I loved exploring. Overall it's a great book of the rich.

“The Takedown” by Evie Hunter was a fast paced edge of your seat book. This book was hard to put down because you just want to know what happens. It was well written and had so many twists and turns.
Freya is the new person on the yacht of a wealthy man. She has taken the job to help avenge her sister. As she starts to work she is hoping the owner will not recognize her. Julian is the owner of the yacht and has some shady dealings in the past. As things come to a head for him will he figure out who is new employee is.
Highly recommend this book.

Thanks to Boldwood Books and Netgalley..
When Freya gets a hostess job on a super luxury yacht, everybody aboard begins to wonder why she gave up a very lucrative job in a country home, or did she?
Julien Falcon the owner of the super yacht is used to getting his own way, by throwing money at it, he invites some associates onboard and the men talk business, what is going on? There is more than one member of staff onboard who holds a grudge but who and why,? Can Freya trust anybody on board, or does she have more in common with some of them than she realises. Loved it. Not everything is as it is portrayed. Definately recommend

Quite disappointing really. The storyline was very well constructed, but unfortunately the start was very slow. Things got going when they arrived in Ibiza and the storyline got really interesting. It then ended abruptly and then all of a sudden we were back in England reminiscing about the events in Ibiza. Pity really as the idea was so good.

On board the super yacht Perseus, moored at the glamorous harbour in Antibes, Freya Addison is setting into her new role as hostess. The other crew members all like Freya, she is calm and diligent, and a hard worker, but what they don't know is that Freya has a secret and an ulterior motive for being on board. Revenge will be hers. Because Freya isn't there to travel the world in style. She has set her sights on one thing only, bringing sown the owner of the yacht - the rich and arrogant Julian Falcon. A man who ripped the heart out of Freya's family.

There were quite a lot of characters to keep track of, and quite a lot going on in this book. Freya has an ulterior motive for being on the luxury yacht. Freya is planning on getting revenge on the yacht's owner, Julian Falcon. He had ruined her family's lives. The pace is steady, the characters are well-developed, and it's a quick and easy read. I wouldn't categorise it as a thriller, but it's still a good read;

I have read and very much enjoyed most of the books by this author. What a very talented writer she is. The Takedown takes us on one hell of a ride.
Freya has a new job. Freya has taken on this job to seek revenge, closure, retribution. What Fraya doesn't realise is when she takes on this job she won't be alone in seeking out truth.
Freya's new job is on the superyacht Perseus. Once they set sail Fraya is stuck at see and while working can work out her plan. Not everything will be 'plain sailing'
There will be turbulence along the way and for some when they have so much to lose they have no fear of others.
Secrets, lies and revenge - on a Yacht. What could possibly got wrong?

Bravo Evie Hunter, another exceptional read. A good pace through out and interesting storyline.

In The Takedown by EV Hunter we meet Faidra she is the new hostess on the yacht the Perseus. It is not a sporting yacht but a luxury yacht only built to impress others and that is exactly what owner Julian falcon wants. When he arrives with his left hand man Eddie and his flavor of the month Chelsea he has no idea she is on board and her job will only be done when she gets her revenge but what she doesn’t know is there is someone else on board who wants the same thing and it is captain Greg Larson. When they join forces it makes Phaedra feel better to know she has someone helping her with her plight. When Thaydra first came aboard chef Sandy immediately didn’t like her in Sandy‘s mind she had laid claim to the captain but things get even more stranger when Sandy starts being nice to Phaedra. Things gets even more complicated long before they set foot in Ibiza and that is where they will find their best lead for taking down falcon he ruins anyone in his path but before it’s over someone is murdered. Is that it wasn’t complicated already Julian Faulkner thinks he recognizes Phaidra and that they’ve met before Will Phaedra and Greg find enough in time to take down the man who took so much from them or will he once again slither his way out like the snake he is. I love the way despite how Chelsea acted Faidra was classy and even tried to look out for the ignorant young Golddigger. I thought her and Captain Greg made a great couple I was going to rate this book four stars but after the ending it is a definite five star read! I really enjoy EV hunters books I was guessing until the last page because at one point I really thought he was going to ruin himself this is such a great read and one I definitely recommend. I want to thank boldwood books for my free art copy via NetGalley please forgive any mistakes as I am blind and dictate my review.

Wow! 20% into the book and so much transpired, you wonder what the other 80% would bring. A nice, fast paced, can't put down read. Quite a few twists and turns I didn't see coming. All in all, I really enjoyed. Considering I read it in 4.5 hours.

I really started to feel sorry for Falcon, but not for long. How devious and evil can one person be.

It seemed to be that everyone had a motive for wanting to see his downfall, but who would manage to achieve this?

Fast moving in places after a slow start. Great read, but not if you are going on a yachting holiday!

Thank you Netgalley for letting me read this book.

I wouldn’t class this as a thriller and the first few chapters were slow and then it took off, it was gripping in places but too many characters, most with the same agenda that I was beginning to feel sorry for Falcon but not for long.

A big thanks to Netgalley and the amazing Boldwood Books for the ARC of The Takedown by Evie Hunter coming out in May 8th. I love a good revenge story and one that takes place on a yacht? Hello? Yes please. This book was very entertaining and kept me reading. It wasn’t a bite your nails thriller, but still good. This would make a great summer read!

This is my first book by this author. I was attracted by the cover and the blurb, taking me into the world of the rich and famous.

People can have different reasons for taking a job. One of the most important things about such job is that it gives you the opportunity to do what you love to do and earning money at the same time. Sometimes though the most important factor behind accepting a job is revenge.

Once again a book shows how money makes the world go round and some think they can do everything they like or treat people the way they like because they are rich. But one of these days, they come eye to eye with karma...

I enjoyed the book, but for me it was not really a thriller. The intrigue was good, I would have liked a bit more pizzazz maybe.

Probably not entirely my cup of tea, but I am happy I had the opportunity to get to know the author's work. I would love to read another book in the future.

If you like the world of the glitter and glamour, lies and deceit, this is the book for you. 4 stars

Thank you

A good read but I think I was expecting more grit and seemed pretty tame. The book is well paced throughout and kept me engaged.
