I loved this book! The story was well written and the banter was top tier. I loved the character growth throughout the book and it was a heartwarming read.

Reckless by Kimberly Kincaid was SOOOO GOOD!!!

I didnt know what to expect but the writing blew me away.

Let me tell you - Alex Donovan IS MINE AND I WILL FOREVER OBSESS OVER THIS MAN!!!!

Zoe was PERFECT for him!!! I love how they met !!!! Zoe Westin works at a soup kitchen and Alex decides to work there too. The chemistry between the two of them was SO GOOD!!!

It was a little bit of a forbidden romance as Zoe is the daughter or Alex's boss!!!!

I loved that they decided to be "Reckless" and give into temptation.

Overall, I loved this book and I WANT TO FIND MYSELF A FIREFIGHTER NOW!!!

This is another Kincaid story with a strong woman and a fine man who enter a slow burn relationship. She’s great at writing them! Of course, the reader cheers along the way, but this was one where I finished and thought “in real life, they’d end up broken up.” Adrenaline junkies and play-it-safe people in real life are probably going to have problems. But- in the book- wow did they make things work out.

Kincaid is always a must read. She writes stories that are interesting and have women who don’t let someone walk all over them. The men are strong, too, and have demanding careers, as do the women.

This was such a fun book. I have been on a firefighter kick lately and this was prefect. Alex is pretty reckless (hints the title) and Zoe very much plays it safe. Plus her dad is the captain of Alex’s firehouse. When he has to do community service he ends up in the soup kitchen she is in charge of. I haven’t read anything by Kimberly Kincaid before but I really enjoyed her writing style. I will have to go back and read the other Pine Mountain books, but I already can’t wait to get my heads on the next one.

I’m really glad this story was extended to full length. I love this trope and this series. This originally was a novella. While I don’t care for super deep forbidden, this little step into it is wonderful. It’s also an opposites attract, which is always a good time. What starts as punishment turns into a blessing. Alex fights it. Since everyone knows the Captain’s daughter is a no go. I loved the combination of the firefighter and chef trope.

Reckless was such a easy sweet read.
I am a huge fan of the show station 19 so I knew this book would be something I'd love to read. It absolutely did not disappoint. This was a first read of Kimberly kincaid and it certainly won't be the last.

The premise of this book gave me high hopes. But sadly I was disappointed with the characters and the writing.
The characters didn’t develop like I had hoped. And while the writing was decent I had hoped for some more “inbetween” writing, where there would be some reflection.

But if you like a slow book with forbidden romance, between an arrogant man and a fierce woman, with HEA then this book is for you.

Zoe wanted more from her career as a chef than to work at a five-star restaurant as she wanted to help feed those who need it. This is why she started a soup kitchen but trying to balance the needs of her clients and the cost to run it is difficult, but she isn’t certain that one of her father’s firefighters who has been forced to volunteer is the answer.

Being a firefighter is more than a job for Alex it is who he is. When he finds himself suspended for not following a superior’s orders at a fire, he is now tasked with volunteering for the next month at Zoe’s soup kitchen. Not only doesn’t he believe it isn’t a good use of his skills but the fact that she is his captain’s daughter, and he is attracted to her doesn’t make it any easier.

Zoe already has her reservations about the dangers of her father’s job so getting involved with a firefighter was a complication she wasn’t expecting however the chemistry and connection is undeniable and now they must decide what happens when his volunteering ends and he is fighting fires once again.

I liked Zoe and Alex's story, I think that their story progressed realistically. I think the Zoe and Alex together were able to help each other grow and open up, however separately she seemed really strict on following the rules and he was an adrenaline junkie. I really enjoyed these characters and thought they were a lot of fun. I missed seeing the future for these characters in the epilogue, but the build up for the next book made me want to read it. I cannot wait to see where these characters go in the future.

Reckless by Kimberly Kincaid, is the first book in the Rescue Squad Series, Alex Donovan is a firefighter who works at Station 8, being a firefighter has allowed him to feel part of a family, since he lost his when he was a teenager, since that moment he realized the ephemerality of life, so he is always doing things that remind him that he is alive, only in some cases these can be considered risky, and although risks are part of his work, he always has the support of his colleagues makes these risks controlled. We find Alex when, on a call about a fire, he questions the orders of a superior, which leads him to face punishment to avoid losing his job. This punishment leads him to complete hours of community service, but what he least expected was that the director of the soup kitchen where he was sent to do his community service is none other than his Captain's daughter. Zoe Westin is the director of Hope House, she runs her kitchen with strict controls, but everything is to comply with the rules and she can help those who need it. Her father is the Fire Captain of Station 8, but she has a somewhat tense relationship with him, she feels that he does not approve of her life decisions and she resents him a little because she feels that he put his job before his marriage, which led her mother to ask for a divorce, so now when the “volunteer” assigned to them is a firefighter she is not very pleased, and much less when he does the minimum, for her it's important to do something and make a difference. Although at first they constantly clash, the moment will come when Alex will realize that he must take this seriously and will end up becoming a help to Zoe, but as they spend more time together it's inevitable that the attraction they already felt begins to evolve, but Alex feels that if he lets herself go he will be betraying the man who gave him a family, and for Zoe a relationship with Alex would put her in the same situation as her mother, with a man who risks his life every time he goes to work and sh is not ready to puts her heart into risk.
This is a beautiful story with wonderful characters that will take you on a beautiful journey of growth and love. Alex will be the perfect complement to Zoe, with a beautiful heart, willing to help and teaching her that it's worth taking risks. Zoe is sweet and when she meets Alex he helps her blossom even more. I'm really in love with these two and the other characters too, I can't wait for Cole's story. A story you won't want to miss. Highly recommended!

Alex is considered reckless by many. He does something unacceptable during a fire call and ends up being removed from duty and sent to do a month of community service. Zoe runs a local soup kitchen. She agrees to let a volunteer come work for her for a month but is stunned when it turns out to be Alex. They have history but she needs the help, so she decides to be an adult and allow him to finish his community service. As the two of them get to know one another better, will they want nothing to do with one another or will they discover that they have started something special?

Alex is shown early in the story to be a bit of a loose canon but during the course of the story the author gives him layers. I thought the author did a good job slowly peeling back all of his layers and making all of it make sense together. He doesn’t really need a growth curve because he is a good guy at his core, but he does need to open himself up to people so that they can better understand some of his actions. He is just reckless. Zoe starts the story as a fully realized adult with a demanding career running the soup kitchen. The author does a really good job showing how insecure Zoe is in some aspects of her life and career. I enjoyed how the author allowed Zoe the chance to grow some confidence and take some chances. There are side characters in this story that are critical to the growth of the main characters.

My one complaint is that I thought the beginning of the story was a little slow. It’s a strange observation considering that Alex makes his poor decision, and he is sent to do his community service during that part of the story but the pacing and feel of that part of the book didn’t match the remaining 2/3 of the book. Once I got into the meat of the story it read really fast.

This is a contemporary romance between a firefighter and a chef. Both characters have demanding careers and homes. This story is tied to another series written by this author. I will definitely read more from this author in the future.

Absolutely loved this book!! Alex is a firefighter and he is reckless while doing his job and this latest stunt could cost him his job, Zoe runs a soup kitchen and is the daughter of the fire captain and when Alex shows up to do his shift things start to heat up between them. Can she get over her fear of him being a firefighter or will she lose him?

Reckless is a steamy opposites attract that hits all the right notes. Both Zoe and Alex have strong opinions on life, with Alex being the risk taker and Zoe the take no chances chef who is working hard to make her charity Hope House a success. I love the way Alex was written-cocky yet sexy with a sweet side and a heart of gold that would win over anyone who spends time with him. I also love how Zoe comes across, strong in what she believes in but also vulnerable when it comes to her supposed failures. These two have chemistry that sparks off the page and amidst the backdrops of the fire house and Zoe's kitchen it works out to a satisfying happily ever after.

At one point does one not want a firefighter romance? The answer is never. You ALWAYS want a firefighter romance and I was here for this one.

I also love how she was his fire chief’s daughter. The forbidden aspect of it is EVERYTHING!

It was a very light/easy read that I never wanted to end.

Make sure to grab this one ASAP!

My first Kimberly Kincaid novel and I have to say she writes opposites attract spectacularly.
Zoe and Alex couldn’t be more different, as far apart in life as their names are in the alphabet, they clash over everything. But that fiery chemistry makes for wonderful passion.
The plot is so well written I couldn’t put it down. Hooked by the action and realism, the wonderful characters, their banter and dirty talk, and the challenge each brings to the other.
Emotional, unpredictable, realistic, sweet and steamy and a beautiful HEA.
I look forward to reading more Kimberly Kincaid stories and hope there’s more from the Station 8 crew.

I liked both characters, but I really wanted to knock some sense into Zoe when she walked away from Alex. At sone point, she had to realize her relationship was not identical to her parents and might not have the same results.

If you looking for a fun, flirty read, this is the book for you!

Zoe and Alex have a great story to get to their HEA. These two have great chemistry together, but need to keep it in check or things could get complicated. A good read!!

Intriguing storyline! It has been several months since I’ve read something written by Kimberly Kincaid. Now I remember why I loved her work so much. Each chapter leaves you unable to stop reading because you’re just dying to find out what happens next.

In this first book of a new series, we meet Alex Donovan and Zoe Westin (aka the captain’s daughter)! Zoe runs the local soup kitchen called Hope House and Alex’s non-compliant attitude earns him a months long community service stint helping Zoe out. With this book, you not only get heat from the kitchen and the fire station, but the action in the bedroom is smoking hot!!!!

Rating 3.75 rounded up to 4.

Alex is a fire fighter and Zoe works at the local Hope House and soup kitchen and is also the captains daughter. After disobeying orders, Alex is told he needs to do four weeks community service as his job is at risk. They get off to a rocky start with Alex making it clear he doesn’t want to be there and not following the rule book. Zoe threatens to kick him out but he pleads her to let him stay. She gives him a second chance Alex gives her a challenge that if he plays by her kitchen rules, she must do something risky with him.

I liked the characters and the setting but I wasn’t completely hooked with the story. I found myself getting annoyed with Zoe at the end when she left Alex in the hospital and the last couple of chapters felt predictable. The writing was good I just found nothing really exciting happened in this story to keep me wanting more.

This is the second book I’ve read by this author and although I preferred the other, I would still like to read more from them. Thank you to NetGalley for sending me a copy to review.
