Absolutely loved this book would 10/10 recommend! It had everything I needed in a book at the time to get out of my reading slump
This book was a bit slow paced for me but it was good. There could have been a bit more romance. The editing was poorly done (sorry editors) the typos made me cringe. Overall it was a good read.
I received an earc of this book and I can say I thoroughly enjoyed this book and just found out that the rest of the series is on kindle unlimited and very excited to see where the journey takes me. Little to no spice. I recommend this book to everyone!
Loved loved loved this book. To the point where I actively searched for the next book to read. It had everything I look for in a book, action, romance, fae.... a must read for the romantasy loving people.
I DNF’d at 30%. The characters felt very generic and I I wasn’t into the magic system/ world building.

This book had me hooked early on, it was so good.
I really enjoyed the background of the fae and the magic and religion aspects of this. The characters background was really well developed and interesting. The interactions are really fun and make you feel things.
I cannot wait to read the second one.
Thank you Starpress for a copy in exchange for an honest review <3
I picked up this book and couldn't put it down. I loved the overarching storyline and the world building of this book. a spin of Camelot is an interesting idea for a book series. I loved the male lead Kairos Draven. He respected her and her decisions, I even loved the villains, I think with Arthur and Orcades the next few books will be very interesting.
I was not a fan of the main character, i had to keep telling myself that her sheltered life, was the reason she was so naive, because some of the time she just made stupid decisions. I didn't feel there was much growth from her.
I hope we get to see much more growth from her in future books, or they shift to another character perspective.
overall i give this book 3 stars. It is a great start to the series, the worldbuilding the over arching storyline, and the male lead, even the villains are interesting. What i want to see in the next books to give it four stars would be the main character to show growth and maturity.
Thank you Net Galley and Publishers for letting me read an arc of this book in return for an honest review.
This was a King Arthur/Camelot retelling that was packed full of adventure. It was entertaining and the world building was fantastic. I could picture every town and building they came across or entered and it all sounded beautiful and enchanting. I liked most of the characters enough. Florian was a piece of shit and deserved what happened to him. Draven is a great morally gray character that I can't wait to read more about. Morgan was just annoying at times and almost too submissive. Like girl, you were supposed to be queen but you're fine with everyone else making decisions for your life. Her brother, King Arthur, is a tyrant of a king and I hope he gets taken down in the rest of the series. And then there always has the be the sweet and cute guy that you want to fall for that ends up betraying the group. The cliff hanger at the end is brutal so I'm glad I've got the rest of the series to start immediately. Overall I hope the rest picks up and is even more exciting.
I really enjoyed this book. Thank you so much Netgalley for an arc of this book. I apologize for the late review.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for the e-ARC!!
Absolutely loved my journey through this book. In my opinion it did quite start slow and dragged but nonetheless, if you continue reading it despite it's slow pace in the beginning, you are then rewarded with such an amazing flow of journey and world building.
THIS IS BOOK FALLS UNDER DARK FANTASY - so I absolutely recommend looking up trigger warnings before diving into it.
Other things I loved in this book is how there was a certain harmony between the romance and the fantasy. Usually, some authors go a bit too fantasy, or some delve into more of the romance part. But this book has a certain harmony of both which makes this book a perfect fantasy romance. As this is advertised as a Dark Fantasy Romance, I can certainly say that it lives up to its genre. If you are in need of a dark fantasy romance retelling, definitely recommend this book and together with the next books in the series, I believe it'll be a whirlwind of emotions, storytelling and lore.
Thank you Netgalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
3.5
This book was fun. It's a very stereotypical Romantasy (which to me is not a bad thing) and is very predictable at times but I still enjoyed my whole experience reading it. I've been reading a lot of King Arthur inspired books lately and I love how everyone has it's own take on the stories. Morgan did annoy me a lot of times because she is just so naive and sees the good in everyone even when they constantly prove to her that she shouldn't. A lot happens in this book and the story is definitely intriguing and I'm excited to see where the rest of the story goes. I have a feeling it's going to get really good.
I had high hopes for this book and really wanted to love it, but something about the story just didn’t resonate with me. While the writing was solid and the plot had potential, it ultimately wasn’t the right fit for me. That said, I believe others might connect with it in ways I didn’t, and it’s certainly not a reflection on the author’s talent.

I DNF'd this book. I like the premise, but I did not care for the writing style. I read for three chapters but couldn't continue. It is purely a matter of taste.
"Queen of Roses" by Briar Boleyn is a stunning, immersive read that blends breathtaking fantasy with poignant themes of identity and belonging. From the very first page, I was captivated by Morgan Pendragon’s journey of self-discovery as she navigates a world fraught with danger, temptation, and recurring shadows from her past.
Morgan is a compelling protagonist, expertly crafted with a rich inner life and a fierce spirit. Born into a life of duty yet yearning for freedom, her quest to reclaim her destiny is both thrilling and relatable. The dramatic tension between her obligations and her desires beautifully illustrates the struggles many individuals face in defining themselves outside societal expectations. As she embarks on a dangerous mission to find a legendary fae weapon, Morgan's character evolves in ways that are both profound and empowering.
One of the most enjoyable aspects of this journey is the intriguing cast of side characters that Morgan encounters. The band of outcasts she joins brings depth and vibrancy to the narrative, each contributing unique strengths and vulnerabilities. Among them is the dark, enigmatic warrior who stirs something deep within Morgan, adding an intoxicating layer of romance and tension that pulses through the storyline.
Briar Boleyn's world-building is exquisite, allowing readers to revel in the lush landscapes and rich lore of the fae kingdom—a realm teeming with secrets and peril. The stakes escalate as Morgan uncovers the dark truths about her heritage, and the foreshadowing of a power struggle that threatens to engulf the kingdom is both nail-biting and engaging. The author crafts an intricate web of lies and mysteries that keeps readers guessing, making "Queen of Roses" a truly page-turning experience.
With sharp, evocative prose, Boleyn does an amazing job of blending heart-pounding action with deeply emotional moments. The themes of sacrifice, love, and the quest for self-acceptance resonate throughout the novel, making it a beautifully layered story that leaves a lasting impact.
In conclusion, "Queen of Roses" is a captivating fantasy adventure that explores the complexities of love, loyalty, and the fight to reclaim one’s destiny. Briar Boleyn has crafted a tale that is rich with emotion and excitement, and I wholeheartedly recommend it to fans of fantasy and romance.
I am incredibly grateful to NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this outstanding arc; as I closed the book, I found myself yearning for more of Morgan’s journey—an indication of just how spellbinding this tale truly is!
DNF at 30%. This really didn’t hold my attention unfortunately. I felt the story wasn’t overly unique and original and so it wasn’t really motivating me to read it.
I enjoyed this book a lot with the strong characters and the inspiration from King Arthur. I was yelling at my kindle when some characters entered on the page. Those yells were fueled from anger at the character and also excitement. Excited to read the next!
I had to DNF Queen of Roses because, unfortunately, the content was too much for me to handle. While I appreciated the writing style and world-building, certain themes and scenes crossed a line that made me uncomfortable. It's a shame, as I was hoping to enjoy this book, but sometimes it's best to step away when a story doesn't align with your personal boundaries. If you're sensitive to heavy or explicit content, you might want to approach this one with caution.
I was so excited when I saw this one was a King Arthur imagining. I am a sucker for anything King Arthur. This is the first book in the series and there was a lot of world building as well as character introductions but I am interested enough to continue on.
I quite liked this one. The characters, especially the FMC were relatable and interesting. The plot was quite intriguing, and while it fell short in some places which made it feel like the book was dragging a bit, and becoming quite predictable the last 80-100 pages had my jaw dropping. The setting was immersive enough, not the best but still decent for a fantasy.
I would recommend this to my friends, but it wouldn't be one of the first.
Thank you to the author and NetGalley for an eARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I really enjoyed this book. So much that I purchased the paperbacks of books 1-3 before I'd even finished it. There is lots of world-building as it’s the first in a series, but it was super engaging with a really interesting lore.
If you're looking for a good chosen-one fae fantasy series with intriguing mystical creatures and quests, you should dive into this. The book has some queer rep, and slightly delves into homophobia, and there are a few possible triggers so please check the list if you're concerned.
Overall, I'm left with so many questions and cannot wait to get stuck into the rest of the series!
