This was such a fast-paced, twisty thriller! I flew through this book in one day! I had to know what happened to Ellie and if Alex really did have something to do with her disappearance! I loved that it was set in New Orleans. It really added to the mystery!

Thanks to @bookouture and @thrillerbookloversthepulse for the #gifted e-arc!

I love thrillers like this where the author makes readers think one thing for most of the book and then reveals a big plot change which really adds a punch to the story.
I thought Lauren knew more than she was telling all along and that Alex was a bit fishy,
When they descend ion the Big Easy they both discover nothing about the crime or disappearance of their siblings was easy.
It’s a good guessing game.

This book started out pretty slow and repeatative, bit stick with it! I did NOT see the twist at the end coming!

This book was truly a book that was hard to put down. I turned the pages as fast as I could to get to the end of this domestic thriller.

Full of lies, deceit, marital secrets and drama this book had me reading late into the night.

This book was well written and the ending was a shocking twist. I look forward to reading more books by this author

Thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for an advanced copy of this book

The premise of My Perfect Husband is a good one and the book started out quite interesting. Both main characters met in a grief group because they had missing siblings, fell in love and got married. Then when the missing sister is found dead, 12 years later, she has a picture in her pocket of her sister's husband.

From that point the book was steadily downhill for me. I did not find either character to be likeable and there seemed to be lots on unnecessary description. The storyline dragged until about the 80% mark. The twists didn't make sense to me and I was left going "huh" rather than feeling surprised. And the end was a cliffhangar of sorts which I do not like.

The characters' behavior in the second half of the book didn't seem to follow with the first half and none of their actions made sense to me.

Overall, I can see how this book could appeal to some people. It just did not work for me but if you are a fan of this genre I wouldn't discourage anyone from checking it out for themselves.

I'd probably say 2.5 stars.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

I had to DNF this book and I really wanted to stick with it but I’m not interested in the past of the sisters when I would been more interested in the past of Ellie’s murder. It was going so good til I was getting back stories of the past that didn’t seem to go in the reasoning for Ellie’s death.

Many thanks to NetGalley, Bookouture and Bookouture Audio for gifting me both a digital and audio ARC of the latest thriller by a favorite, Georgina Cross, with the audio perfectly narrated by Stephanie Cannon. All opinions expressed in this review are my own - 4 stars!

Lauren has struggled for 12 years, since her younger sister, Ellie, vanished in New Orleans. But when she met Alex, she felt she had met a kindred spirit. Because Alex's sibling was also missing. But when police find Ellie's dead body, they show Lauren a picture that was in her pocket - a picture that shows Alex with Ellie on the day she died.

Wow - another twisty thriller that will have you second guessing everyone! The story is told in multiple timelines from Lauren's POV. The author really put you in the New Orleans atmosphere, and those familiar with the city will appreciate all the love. The narrator did a great job with all the voices - pack this one in your beach bag!

The only way Lauren has been surviving the disappearance of her sister is with the support of her husband, Alex. When the police called to tell Lauren they found her sister's body with two photos in her pocket, Lauren's world shatters. In that photo, Lauren sees her husband and her sister sitting together at a table with her husband smiling at her sister. The problem with that is that Alex told her that he had never met her sister before. Except that photo was taken at the place her sister was last seen the day she died. How did Alex know her sister, and did he have anything to do with her death?

I just finished this one, and I can't even think straight. I'm speechless and shocked, and I want to chuck my Kindle across the freaking room. This one is steeped with secrets, lies, and deceit. Lauren's sister Ellie has been missing for years, and when Lauren receives the phone call that her sister's body has been found, it's not the news she was expecting. She finds out her sister is dead and her husband has been hiding the fact that he had met her sister before. Lauren travels to New Orleans to do some digging of her own to find answers to what exactly happened to her sister the night she disappeared and died. My friends Lauren uncovers some twisted, convoluted mess. Your head will be spinning. You will not believe what happens the night Ellie went missing. This is some twisted crazy mess I did not see coming! Then the ending! It's just as wild as Mardi Gras!!

This book is awesome and just couldn't put it down!

I read this book in one and day i just wanted to find out what was going to happen. As always the writing was great, fast paced and the short book was great. There was so much in this book and will read anything from this author.

The only frustrating part is that the end was just like yeah right why would you would write a great book then have the ending having you roll your eyes. I would still recommend but the end should have been different.

Thanks NetGalley for letting me read and review.

This book is un-put-downable!

I read it in one day, and was totally wrapped up in trying to figure out the ending. The writing was good, the pace was quick and addictive, and the length was perfect. There were so many twists and red herrings, I don't think there was a single character that I didn't suspect at some point.

So why not 5 stars? The ending was SO farfetched. The suspension of disbelief required was too much and kept taking me out of the story in the final sections. That said, I'd still recommend it for when you want an easy, addictive read. Great escapist fiction!

This book was ok but not one of Georgina Cross best books. There are some twists but the end leaves you hanging. Will there be a sequel?

Synopsis - Lauren's sister Ellie disappeared when Ellie was working in New Orleans. Lauren's husband, Alex's brother Clive also disappeared along with Ellie as well. Both Lauren and Alex seemed to have a hard time moving on. Then one day, Lauren received a phone call from a detective in New Orleans. Ellie's body was found in an abandoned house. And it was believed to be a possible murder. Through Ellie's remains, the detectives recover some pictures that were there and the detective forward those pictures to Lauren to see if she recognized anyone. And as Lauren carefully studied the pictures, she was shocked to see her husband, Alex posing in a picture next to her sister. Is her husband after all responsible for her sister's murder?

Good points - The writing was really great and I like the setting--changing sceneries between Lake Michigan and Louisiana. The pacing was fast and also I like how the author left with a small cliff hanger at the end.

Bad point - I actually have read books from this author before but usually she has couple of other main characters POVs. However in this one, we only have Lauren's POV which in my opinion doesn't really work well with this book. I think if we have Alex's POV in this book would have made the book a little better.

Overall verdict. - This was a quick read and also good for ones who like to read pop corn readers. If you are a fan of Freida McFadden, Mary Kubica, then this book will be perfect for you. Worth four stars.

Many thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for the ARC. The review is based on my honest opinion only.

I was happy to find that this book pulled me in right away! I was thrilled that this book had twists and turns that kept me guessing. It is hard to find a story that I can’t figure out pretty early on but I was pleasantly surprised to find I was never entirely sure about my hunches.

Here’s a quick summary (without giving anything away); missing siblings, a questionable husband, clues that take you in and out of the past, and writing that keeps you enthralled! I had never read a Georgina Cross book before but I’m sure I’ll read her again.

Quick listen with super juicy secrets! I thought this book was really good but I did not care for the somewhat of a cliffhanger ending.

The book title is confusing. Usually, when there is a perfect anything in the title, it’s anything but. Here? Not the case, really. Nobody is perfect in the book, but if I had to pick one person who was the most perfect of them all, then it would be the husband, actually. I guess I’m just used to seeing anyone labeled perfect in the book titles turn out to be the most horrible person ever. But not in this case.
I’m still rating this one 4 stars. It was good still. I’m still recommending it to anyone who asks for a weird thriller or who is looking for a thriller with a mentally not-quite-there MC. It is just a very, very different read. Trauma is a weird thing. It plays weird tricks. Mind is an even weirder thing, it plays even more weird tricks. This is what this book is – a trickster. It seems to be one thing, then it morphs into something else, and then it turns into something else entirely.
I’m not sure how I feel about the story, how I feel about the characters, how I feel about the twists. It all was fairly unique, that’s for sure. I’m also not sure if it matters if there was at least one likable character (there were none, btw), I’m not sure if this was a strange case of an unreliable narrator (I think it wasn’t, it was the way the narrator was, not them being deceptive). The ending was… something else also. It’s nothing like your regular thriller twists.

Thanks NetGalley for the ARC of My Perfect Husband by Georgina Cross, published by Bookouture
This book had me from page one, I did not want to out it down! I loved the plot, the characters, the twists. And I did not see the ending coming. This is a gripping tale of two sisters, Lauren and Ellie, told from Lauren's point of view, mostly present day but some past to give history and details. Lauren is living her life married to Alex, needing his constant support as she waits to hear news on her sister's disappearance years ago. Alex also has a brother who has gone missing. As the story unfolds we learn the truth of what actually happened years ago.
I loved this book, the plot, the characters, I was on the edge of my seat! Just awesome!

My Perfect Husband by Georgina Cross is an outstanding psychological thriller which left me lost for words in its brilliant twist. Seriously, a "no waaaay" moment

Lauren is married to Alex, a man she met at a grief management meeting. Both were attending due to the loss of their siblings; Ellie, Lauren's sister had been snatched while in New Orleans, Clive, Alex's brother had disappeared one day without a word. Alex and Lauren had built a friendship, begun dating and eventually married. The Audiobook opens on their usual morning routine of Alex bringing Lauren a mug of coffee in bed, her favourite mug.

Lauren was the envy of her social group. Alex always did the most thoughtful things here and there, coffee, flowers, support. He was even there when her fear of heights took over and soothed her anxiety every time the phone rang. The phone rings, it's a New Orleans number, is this finally the answer Lauren had been waiting so many years for? The question that broke her mothers heart and was still unanswered when she died. The question that was still unanswered when the couple admitted Lauren's father to a care home as they were not able to look after him as well as they could have

Yes, this is the answer, but it also comes with a photograph, a photograph that will change Lauren's and the couples lives forever

Oooooof! This is not even the half of it and I will stop the describing so as not to give anything away.

Georgina Cross weaves a very intricate web, delicate, graceful, but strong as steel and snags the reader in like a spider does with a fly and likewise, there is no way out, you are gripped until the last page. Sorry to use such a cliche, but they exist for a reason. The tplot twists were blinding and will leave your head spinning in the best way. And what is more, they don't stop til you close the book or press stop on the audiobook. Is Georgina Cross going on the "auto must read yes indeed" list? Um yes!

Brilliant, simply brilliant

Thank you to Netgalley, Bookouture and Georgina Cross for this exceptional ARC. My review is left voluntarily and all opinions are my own
