i thoroughly enjoyed the back and forth and found myself constantly wondering who was going to break first. i always try to imagine what i would do in a situation and in this case, i genuinely have NO clue. definitely makes me consider being single the rest of my life so i don’t end up in a similar situation 😂

ᴛʜᴇ sᴛᴏʀʏ: Lauren and Alex have bonded through shared grief, each with a sibling that has been missing for twelve years. When Ellie’s body is found, all of the secrets buried the last time Lauren saw her sister unravel.

ᴍʏ ᴛᴡᴏ ᴄᴇɴᴛs: Georgina Cross has done it again! I love her fast-paced thrillers and read half of this book in one sitting.

The first half of the book was giving me Pretty Girls vibes (one of my faves by Karin Slaughter), but that book is a bit too gruesome and disturbing to recommend lightly. THIS book is my new go-to recommendation for anyone who enjoys a fast-paced domestic thriller!

Alex and Lauren seemed like such a solid couple, starting with their cozy morning routine of him bringing her coffee. It threw me off that Lauren was so quick to accuse Alex and go off on her own. I could understand the suspicions and mistrust, but I think I would’ve still traveled with him to Nola, if only, to hear his side fully before throwing away twelve years together.

I have SO much more to say, but I don’t want to get into any potential spoilers, so I seriously need my book friends to read this so I can talk about it. 😆

Gripped from the very start of the story, with Lauren finding out that her beloved sisters', who has been missing for twelve years, body has been discovered, and her supportive husband, Alex's brother is also missing. That's how they met. In a grief support group, a few months after their siblings went missing. But they didn't know each other... Did they?

What a twist! The only thing that disappointed me was the ending was left slightly open... A very good read though.

Review for 'My Perfect Husband' by Georgina Cross

Wow!! WTAF?!? JUST WOW!!!! Where do I even begin? What an absolutely gripping, intense psychological thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat, flying through the pages and full of suspense!! Filled with twists, turns, red herrings, lies, family, secrets, shocks and explosive twists you won't see coming!!! I have read hundreds of books and this has been the one that has shocked me the most this year and it has definitely hit my top 3 biggest twists of all time!!! I WAS absolutely hooked from beginning to end and just could not put it down. I started it in the morning and couldn't put it down until 2am. Georgina's writing and Stephanie's narration of this fabulous book kept me wanting, no needing, more!! Georgina is a fantastic storyteller and I have loved each and every one of her books and how she comes up with unique storylines and characters for each and every one of them! She draws you in and keeps you hooked from the very first sentence to the very last page! When the big reveal came my mind was absolutely blown away which I loved!! I read the audio version of this book which is narrated by the absolutely fantastic Stephanie Cannon. I have listened to several books narrated by Stephanie and she does an absolutely amazing job of really portraying the characters feelings and emotions every step of the way helping to bring the story to life!! I just cannot wait to see what Georgina comes up with next!!

Do not even attempt to start this until you have cleared your schedules as you will not be able to put it down!!!

The characters were strong and realistic and I was completely invested in them from beginning to end. Georgina's emotive descriptions and Stephanie's fantastic narration really do work perfectly together to ensure the characters come to life in front of you and it feels like you are right next to them throughout the book feeling and seeing everything that they are. It is also one of those fantastic books where you question yourself about the characters constantly not knowing whether you believe them or not and still i was shocked by the ending!

Congratulations Georgina on an absolutely explosive page turner!!! Also a HUGE CONGRATULATIONS on writing a book that has shocked me the most this year!!! I read about 30 plus books a month so this is no easy feat but you managed it!!! This is exactly why you are one of my favourite authors!!! Here's to your next success!!! 🥂

Overall a mind blowing, suspense filled psychological page turning thriller with an explosive ending you WILL NEVER SEE COMING!!!

I really enjoyed this super twisty thriller by a new to me author. I was hooked from the very beginning, and I read it in 2 sittings because I couldn't put it down. I loved the family drama and the unreliable narrator that added an additional layer of suspense.

The ending was shocking, but I kind of wish it went on for a few more chapters so it was tied up a little more neatly. It felt a bit rushed and abrupt to me.

I still loved the book and can't wait to check out this author's other books.

I was not expecting the twists and turns in this book. There are a number of suspects, but you'll never guess what actually happened. Lauren's sister, Ellie, and Lauren's husband, Alex's, brother, Clive, have both been missing for years in separate incidents. When Ellie's body is found, all the secrets come out. This book will keep you on your toes! Thank you to NetGalley for letting me read this book in exchange for my honest opinion.

Having never read a book by this author before now, My Perfect Husband was a brilliant introduction to her writing.

Lauren is the main narrator throughout the book and she takes us on an absolutely crazy roller-coaster ride through what can only be described as your worst nightmare.

I flew through the book, it's fast paced, super twisty and will have you hooked from the opening chapters. It's narrated across dual timelines, allowing us to see both the lead up to the 'incident' and the now.

Highly enjoyable, entertaining and definitely one to recommend.

Wow this really is a twisted story full of liars and secrets and just as I thought I knew what was going on I was hit with another curve ball I did not expect. This is a great story around two missing siblings and the discovery of a body that turns everyone’s world upside down. Loved it!!

My Perfect Husband starts out as a slow burner of a story but once it gets going its hard to put it down. It had just enough twists and turns to keep me turning the pages wanting to know more.

Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for my ARC.

Gripping and it kept me guessing!

When the beginning of the story already kept my hooked, I knew I had to finish this. One of the sisters was killed, a photo was found. The other sister recognized the man who was in the photo was her beloved husband. The story then led you to trust your husband or not.

The secrets behind which created the perfect backbone of the thriller. The characters were smartly crafted. The sisterhood and the husband. Who to trust?

The twists were great and exciting and surprising. I love the storyplot and such an enjoyable read.

Many thanks to NetGalley, bookouture and the author for my copy.

This was a light psychological suspense with secrets and drama. I was hooked from the beginning and enjoyed the story building. It was a dual-timeline book that kept changing between the present and childhood flashbacks.

There was a murder mystery, a disappearance, marital secrets and lies. The narrator became unreliable halfway through the book and I could not trust her or anyone else anymore.

As more clues were found and new discoveries were made, I was second-guessing everyone. I enjoyed the pace of the book and the ending was unexpected.

It was my first book by Georgina and I wasn’t disappointed. I would recommend this book if you enjoyed The Housemaid, The Wife Between Us or The Woman in the Window.

Thank you so much Bookouture, Georgina Cross and Netgalley for this ARC copy!

Lauren has never gotten over the disappearance of her sister Ellie from twelve years ago. She is able to share her grief with her husband Alex whom she met at a support group. Alex can understand because he lost his brother. Lauren’s marriage is suddenly threatened when police find her sister’s body. A picture is found in Ellie’s pocket of her, a strange man, and Alex. Alex swore to Lauren he didn’t know Ellie. What else did he lie about?

It’s clear right from the beginning that Alex lied, but what isn’t clear is why or exactly what happened to Ellie. Lauren travels to New Orleans (where Ellie went missing) to speak with the detective on her case. Lauren reminisces a lot about Ellie and specifically a traumatic event in the sisters’ lives that bonded them. My favorite part were the scenes from the past while getting to know the sisters. Stephanie Cannon’s narration of the younger version of the sisters was excellent. She also did a great job with the male voices, though a New Orleans accent for the detective would’ve taken the audio up a notch.

The Perfect Husband is a light suspense drama with unfolding secrets. Some parts felt overly descriptive but I enjoyed the slow reveal of the story, and the immersive New Orleans setting. If you like domestic turmoil mixed with secrets, lies and not knowing who to trust, then this is for you!

I love her books and this one was great as well! Lauren and Ellie are close and as sisters do a lot together but Ellie is the daredevil and Lauren is reluctant until goaded. As the novel opens, Ellie's body has been found underneath an abandoned and rotting house and although Lauren is devastated, she is relieved as her sister has been missing for years. Now married to Alex, she is beginning to wonder if he's hiding something from her as he also has a missing brother, Clive and she discovers he's been seeing her dad in his senior-living home without telling her. Alternating in time between past and present, the novel shows us how Lauren and Alex met and all of the circumstances surrounding their relationship--its pitfalls and successes. Another one I raced through as I couldn't get enough!
Thanks to NetGalley for this ARC!

My first book by Georgina Cross and I wasn’t disappointed!

Laurens little sister, Ellie, went missing 12 years ago after a night out. Despite Lauren, her family and Ellie’s friends and colleagues looking for her, she has never been found. Lauren meets her husband Alex at a grief support group, Alex also has a missing brother, Clive, and so that brings them together and they are able to support each other through their shared experiences. Then one day the call that Lauren dreads comes in, Ellie’s remains have been found and things start to get strange, Clive’s remains have also been found…..at the same place as Ellie’s and then the police find a photograph in Ellie’s pocket of Alex, Clive and Ellie, this was taken years before Lauren had even met Alex and shocks Lauren to the core. She flies to New Orleans to bring her sisters body back home, but sinister events start to occur; dead flowers and menacing notes are left for her at her hotel room. She doesn’t know who to trust and by trying to find out about Ellie’s disappearance may very well put herself in mortal danger especially as she has a secret of her own to keep. Will she find out what happened to Ellie and get safely back home…. and will she be able to keep her own secret intact?!

This was a good read albeit a little slow to begin with, but I understand that it was setting the scene and giving the reader a good background on Lauren, Ellie, Alex and Clive. By chapter 17 the pace was really picking up and I was addicted not knowing how the story would end, the last few chapters were so teasing and Georgina Cross definitely fooled me good- which I loved!!!! I also really loved all the details and descriptions of New Orleans as they made me feel like I really was there with the characters and storyline.

Ultimately a good solid 4 starer from Georgina Cross. I definitely recommend this one for any readers who enjoy psychological suspense novels.

Thank you to NetGalley, Georgina Cross and Bookouture for my advanced reading copy. Out now.

There was a slightly slow and repetitive start to this book. But I persevered and it developed into a good paced story with lots of twists and turns. I didn’t really feel that the characters were that likable but maybe this was because for me they weren’t developed well. Although I liked the style of writing if I ignored the repetitive narrative.
I had no idea how this would finish but I wasn’t expecting the anti climatic ending.
Overall this was an okay sort of book, but not one I loved.

I sped through this book in no time! I loved that the setting was in New Orleans and that the author used such vivid descriptions I felt like I was there. This was a quickly paced and very entertaining popcorn thriller. While being fast paced, there were points where I felt it dragged and was slightly repetitive. I would've liked to have heard more from the husband's perspective. The story was told in dual timelines, which I absolutely love! They added to the suspense building, and kept me guessing about what would happen at the end. The characters were well developed. I found myself questioning everyone at one point or another. Overall this was a fun and entertaining read.

Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture for the ARC. All opinions are my own.

Lauren's sister Ellie has been missing for years. During this time, Lauren has held out hope that Ellie was still alive and met her husband, Alex, in a support group. Alex has been the perfect husband as he understands what Lauren is going through since he has a missing brother, Clive. Unfortunately, Lauren gets the phone call she's always dreaded- Ellie's remains have been found. In Ellie's pocket was a picture of Ellie, Alex, and Clive. How did Alex and Ellie know each other? Why was his picture on her body when she was found? What other secrets has Alex been hiding?

I really wanted to love this book, but I didn't really feel the urge to pick it up. I felt Lauren was annoying and didn't understand her motivations of keeping Alex's secrets. Of course, this made sense to me in the end and I completely understood- so I forgive this, but I still didn't feel compelled enough throughout the book to want to read it as much as I usually enjoy reading. The ending did save it from being a complete bust.

My Perfect Husband
Georgina Cross

Special thank you to @thrillerbookloversthepulse and @netgalley for my the opportunity to read and review this book!

Twelve years have passed since Lauren’s sister, Ellie, had gone missing. Each day she waits for any piece of news that could explain what happened to her. When the call finally comes it isn’t good news. Ellie’s body had been found. Photos were recovered as well. Photos of her husband, Alex, with Ellie the day she went missing.

My thoughts:
Any book that has someone go missing immediately catches my interest. Especially when you add in the mystery surrounding the sister’s husband.
I do have to say that this is more of a slow burn thriller. So, if you make it through the slow moving middle the ending will most likely shock you! At least that was the case for me!

The description of the New Orleans setting was so fun. It was so immersive and really made me feel as if I was there again.

I’m lucky I had to opportunity to listen to this one as an audiobook. The narration was done by Stephanie Cannon and I felt she did an amazing job with the many characters.

Lauren’s sister, Ellie, has been missing for over a decade. Lauren’s husband Alex has a missing brother as well. For years, Lauren and Alex never give up hope that their siblings will return. When the police inform Lauren that they have found Ellie’s body, she is devastated. But when they show Lauren the picture they found with Ellie’s body, Lauren recognizes her husband and his brother, and she knows she needs to get to the bottom of this mystery. Suddenly she wonders if she can really trust her perfect husband!

This proved to be a quick read with a few twists along the way. I enjoyed the flashbacks to Lauren and Ellie’s childhood, and as the past was unveiled I began to develop suspicions about the present. However, the conclusion was stunning and unexpected! I will definitely read this author again.

Thank you @thrillerbookloversthepulse @bookouture @georginacrossauthor for the opportunity to review this advanced copy. My thoughts are my own.
