Lauren soon meets and marries Alex, whose brother Clive also disappeared. Alex had never told anyone he knew Ellie, and Lauren travels to New Orleans to find out if Alex killed her sister. But Alex isn't the only one keeping secrets.
This was such an amazing thriller. It was a fast-paced read with twists at every turn. I couldn't put it down once I started and I was kept guessing throughout. This was my first from this author but I can't wait to read more.
We have all been talking about this at @thrillerloversthepulse and after finishing the book, I see why the buzz is real!
Lauren and her husband Alex have a unique thing in common: both of them had a sibling go missing when they were young adults. For Lauren, finding a man who understood what she was going through was a special gift; he completely relates to Lauren’s constant worry of what happened to her sister. Alex’s brother, Clive, has been missing almost as long and he beat himself up to this day for not reporting him missing sooner. When Lauren finally receives a call about Ellie, she knows this is it: the police report that they found her sister’s body in an abandoned house in New Orlenas. What they - and Lauren - can’t figure it is why Ellie had a photo in her pocket of her with both Alex and Clive. Is her husband hiding something from her?
What a unique mystery! My heart went out to Lauren and also her father, who spent a decade of their lives missing Ellie and worrying. As Lauren travels to New Orleans to try to find out what happened to her sister, there seem to be more questions than answers - especially when Alex also shows up in NOLA. I truly didn't know who to trust, and spent most of the book going back-and-forth with who I thought was responsible. As the clues began to come to the surface, the tension revved up even more and the ending - holy cow! If it wasn’t late at night, I would have screamed - LOL! Also, I loved the rich NOLA setting - I have never been there but it is a place I’d like to visit someday! The questions

Twelve years ago, Lauren’s sister Ellie went missing in New Orleans. Lauren and her husband Alex have spent the last twelve years looking for Ellie.
Then one day, a body was found in an abandoned house. A crumpled photo found on the body sent the detective on the case into overdrive. What does Alex know about the night Ellie disappeared?
This book had me on the edge of my seat wanting to know what happened to Ellie that fateful night. It was a quick read that held my interest the whole time!
Thank you to NetGalley, Bookouture, and Georgina Cross for this ARC. My Perfect Husband will be released on May 16, 2024.
My Perfect Husband by Georgina Cross reeled me in from the first page and did not let me go.
Lauren has spent twelve years grieving the loss of her sister. Luckily, she has the support of her husband Alex, who understands completely having lost his own brother years before. But Lauren's discovery of a photograph, along with the New Orleans police confirmation that a body has been found, will bring all of the pain to the forefront once again, and Lauren's premonition of yet another traumatic event will come to fruition.
This is a fast-paced twisty read that held me captive from beginning to end, and I was kept guessing until the very last page. 4.5 stars
Many thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for an ARC.
My Perfect Husband by new to me author G. Cross, published by Bookouture, is a full length thriller that had me right from the first page.
Lauren is married to Alex and belives everything is great when something comes up that opens a big big can of worms.
Her sister Ellie vanished 12 years ago and she never stopped looking for Ellie.
Alex brother Clive got lost too and that connected them. Now when a body is found, there're hints that something was between sis and hubby.
What Alex doesn't know is, Lauren hides secrets of her own. So let the games begin.
A thrilling, literally unputdownable read, raw and gritty, sinnister and full of unexpected twists and turns.

📚MY RATING: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
📚MY REVIEW:
I saw all the rave reviews about this book, and I'll be honest: I thought to myself, "come on, how good can it really be?" I mean, this is just another domestic thriller, right? WRONG! Y'all, I have to apologize to my own damn self - this book was really THAT GOOD and deserved every single word of the praise it's been unanimously getting from this Bookstagram community!
You've got an unreliable narrator, who doesn't even start off being unreliable. ✅ You've got a missing person. ✅ Two missing persons actually. ✅✅ You've got secrets. ✅ You've got the backdrop of New Orleans. ✅ What more do you want?!
This book got me. From the minute I picked it up, I could NOT put it down. I didn't even want to wait to post my review! It's late on Friday night - and I simply couldn't go to bed till I shared with all of you what a captivating thriller this was!
This book is the epitome of unputdownable. The twists absolutely blew my mind! Somewhere around the halfway point of the book, I started saying "what...the...f*ck?!" aloud, trying to figure out if the pieces of the puzzle I was putting together in my head were actually fitting together correctly. And I must have uttered that phrase, growing increasingly astonished, at least 10-15 more times before I got to the end of the book. The way Georgina Cross rationed her clues out to the reader, as each chapter progressed, was unequivocally brilliant.
Every single great thing you're hearing about this book is absolutely true. If you can request this book on NetGalley, do it right now! If you can't get an advanced copy, pre-order it. And for God's sake, if you don't pre-order it, just buy a copy on May 16th! I can't recommend it enough! A big thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for gifting me this advanced copy in exchange for my honest review!

I immediately got hooked by fast pace of this book, the ending was amazing, I finished it very quickly because I just had to keep reading.
Usually a fan of the author’s thrillers, this one was a miss for me. I guess I had a difficult time getting into the storyline. I look forward to reading her next book!
Have you ever finished a book and your head is like those bobble heads? Well this is that book! There were several twists that I did not see coming. Told in the past/present with tons of secrets to uncover.
Loved the twists in this book as Lauren tries to figure out what happened to her sister and if her husband was involved. Could not put this one down!
Lauren’s sister Ellie has been missing for years. Not knowing what happened to her. Her husband Alex is going through the same thing since his brother is missing! But when Ellie’s body is found and there were pictures of Lauren’s husband in her pocket. Lauren starts asking questions.
This book had soo much potential. I absolutely loved the plot. But I just didn’t fully love the twist! The book kept me on my toes until about the end.
I enjoyed the read but I don’t think I would reccomend this!
Thank you netgalley for the opportunity to review this book!
Georgina Cross does it again! This thriller is described as unputdownable and I can confirm that is definitely true. Missing siblings, a suspicious husband, and countless secrets combined to create a thriller that hooked me immediately. I couldn't get to the shocking conclusion fast enough. The final twists left me shaken. The plot is fast-paced and masterfully constructed with twists and turns throughout this original, page-turner! I look forward to reading more from Georgina Cross. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture for my copy.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This book had me hooked from the beginning. So many twists and turns that’s I couldn’t put it down. It has freida McFadden vibes with a fast paced mystery/thriller vibe.
Lauren’s sister went missing and she is absolutely wrecked. Alex is so helpful along the way and assists her in finding her sister, but soon Alex looks more like a suspect and Lauren doesn’t know who to trust and what to believe. I couldn’t figure this one out until the end.
If you can't trust your partner, then who can you trust?
My Perfect Husband is a fast paced and twisty thriller. This book had me pulled in from the first chapter. This book had it all; well written and well developed characters and a strong plot.
There are many red herrings, secrets, lies, and twists that will keep you guessing until the end.
This was a pretty good book. The storyline was interesting, but it wasn't quite as gripping as I was hoping for. She did have some neat twists and turns throughout the book, and I did enjoy how it ended. Overall, I thought it was enjoyable, and would recommend to others.
The beginning 25% was really hard to get through and took a few days to get through it. I don't feel like it flowed well and seemed more like the actions of an angry teenager than an adult. I just didn't care about the characters. It did get better at about 50%, which is why it got 3*.
I did get this from Netgalley, but these opinions are my own.
Lauren has been grief stricken since the disappearance of her younger sister, Ellie. Twelve years ago, Ellie attended a concert for work, and she was never seen again. In the midst of searching for her sister, Lauren met Alex. His brother, Clive, also disappeared twelve years ago. The experience of losing a sibling created a bond between Lauren and Alex. They eventually got married.
Suddenly, Lauren receives a call from the New Orleans Police Department saying they have found her sister’s remains. Lauren is overcome with sadness because it confirms Ellie is dead. To add insult to injury, a photo is found in Ellie’s pocket. Lauren views the photo, and she is in shock when she sees who’s in the photo with Ellie.
As more details are revealed about Ellie’s disappearance, more secrets are exposed. Was Alex and Lauren losing their siblings at the same time truly a coincidence, or are the disappearances connected?
This book took me on an emotional rollercoaster ride that I didn’t want to get off! And the ending left me wanting more. Ms. Georgina, will there be a sequel?
"I stare at my husband and wonder which one of us will confess first."
First of all, thank you Netgalley and Georgina Cross for the arc!
Coming to the book, the title fascinated me so much, and the description, my God, it's been so long since I have read a thriller, especially a good one and this lived up to every mark of mine. This is a quick read and raced through this in like 2 days. The writing was unique simple yet with such depth of sentences. For a long time, I craved this good writing and the author stayed up the expectations. This is my first book by the author, and I'm quite impressed and will surely read her other books.
"Denial can make you believe almost anything. Hope can also.
And so can those whispers in your ear."
The story revolves around the disappearance of Lauren's sister, Ellie who disappeared around 12 years ago. The story mostly goes for the present point, few times in the book, we will see glimpses of the past as well. The past references are perfectly situated around the story line of the present and as the story progresses, it becomes more clear. The characters, Lauren and her husband, Alex are the main leads and the author has justified both of them. It might seem Alex got a little spotlight, but in the latter half of the book, it is proven wrong.
" “I always knew you were the one who did it,” Dad says. “That day, the
lies you girls told. You can own up to it now.” "
Without giving much away, while the climax is narrated, you get an idea of what is going to happen a bit or so, but the before and aftermath are more surprising and more interesting to read about. Some revelations are big and some are not quite important. But the characters, especially Alex is very well written. The end is spectacular, could not ask for any other ending, as the one already is fitting and leaves the reader an open ending like some other questions unanswered.
"Because I’m buying time—that’s what this is. I know this instinctually. I
don’t want to go to this uncharted territory just yet."
I would recommend it to people who love thrillers, disappearances, and murder mysteries, and a quick and short read.
"and the not
knowing is often the cruelest of all."
A gripping page turner which held my interest in the storyline. Great characters that held my interest too and a twisty read.
Thank you to Netgalley and Bookouture for this ARC which I can thoroughly recommend
"My Perfect Husband" is a dark domestic thriller, and when I say dark, I mean it. As the cover suggests, the disappearance of Lauren's sister Ellie sadly ends in tragedy. But even more shocking than Ellie's tragic death is the story's resolution. I truly didn't see it coming. The plot is genuinely brutal, and I had no idea what would happen next. Auch. I read "My Perfect Husband" in one sitting, finishing around 2 a.m. Yes, it was that gripping and unpredictable.
