My thanks to W F Howes Ltd and NetGalley for an audio copy of “ Not That I’m Bitter” for an honest review.

I remember Helen Lederer well from so many tv shows in the 80s, so it was really interested to read how she started her career and how her life has progressed.
As a rule I don’t listen to many audio versions of books , but hearing her talking about her own life added something more to the book.
She doesn’t shy away from some of the low points in her life , so her story isn’t all laughs .
A very entertaining and engaging book

This book was very funny, you look into Helen’s world and her hard life to success in the actress/comedian world. It was great to read about her journey to fame, a lot of bumps in the road to get there. It shares her life with the reader, giving insights to her diet, her relationships and her child.

I listened to the audiobook read by Helen which I loved, it’s her own story she reading and she does it really well.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for a copy.

I was delighted to have the opportunity to listen to this pre publication. I’ve admired Helen Lederer for over forty years and she’s adept as a narrator of this audio title. Her delivery and timing add to the pleasure of hearing her story.

In some ways, she seems to have been in the shadows, but equally, I consider her to be a forerunner of the female writers and performers like French and Saunders and Ruby Wax. This account gives the listener valuable insight into just how hard it is to work your way to the top. She’s self deprecating and never boastful about her achievements. She’s made me laugh out loud a few times whilst listening and she doesn’t shy away from more difficult issues around mental health. Informed, entertaining and totally engaging. I loved every minute of this which I polished off in a couple of evenings.
